2016 Skate Canada Ladies FP

yep overscored Osmond and Med and well really no different than Skate America. And really not different. These skaters are good but they aren't Yuna Kim or Sochi Sotnikova. The scoring is not really that inconsistent. I keep putting things into perspective nothing is as bad as the home nation inflation at nationals. ears ago une rth the 6.0 system the Americans would give 6.0 to their n ational champs even i they were second or third tier skaters on the world scene it was obscene, it was scandalous, it was an outrage but it was American nats and you just accept and expect it.

Kaetlyn only attempted 6 triples. She did 5 (inclusive of the ! she got on the 3Z) and fell on an underrotated 3Lo. I think Osmond is a good skater. But she shouldn't be beating world medalists in components and scoring over 132 with a fall. I think it'd be accurate if she'd scored about what Satoko scored.

its Skate Canada, what's her next event NHK ? she'll get a payback from Satoko, Satoko will not get UR calls in Japan and will beat Osmond there !

I'm sure after this Miyahara will win at the NHK with a huge margin, with no feedback to the skater to fix her jumps.

About her stsq even at Japan Open actually i wasn't sure how she got level 4 for this, but i would have not predicted zero points.

its hard because then you have to cut down on the spread eagles, ina bauers and such into and out of jumps and the list goes on. blame this on COP folks for every step forward sometie there are a few back.

Good point. But I don't think we've seen anyone try to do a program with a spread eagle, say, into four or five of their jumps in the same program. Or out of them, for that matter. I guess that's what makes the situation with the tanos different.

Like I said, I don't at all blame Medvedeva for doing it, since she can and it increases her points. But unfortunately, it becomes a negative for me artistically, rather than a positive because of the overuse.

she needs fresh and new choreo and better music. something fun that challenges her, because what shes doing now won't break her record anytime soon

O H~ do you really think this program is worth 144? Especially with the errors? It's not a matter of if she'll break her WR and Yuna's (total score), but which competition because she sure as hell will. A 76 for that clunky program? I believe thats a new personal best and it won't stop anytime soon.

Tano gets too much credit on the GOE in my opinion. Better to see speed, flow, height and tight rotations than awkward looking arm positions.
imo for me it's elegant arm position.
and don't forget about difficult entry and difficult exit from jumps!

Yikes... Medvedeva's program = such a hot mess! That said, I don't actually think it's offensive or exploitative of 9/11 (any more than skating to Schindler's List exploits the Holocaust —> though one could certainly make the case that any such program inherently exploits its respective tragedy, but I digress...)

What bothers me is that the program is tawdry and schmaltzy —> it feels like a cheaper and more gimmicky knock-off of last season's FS... And Medvedeva deserves a more sophisticated program than this exercise in obviousness. She's way too talented a skater!

I watched Mirai's program on youtube after accidentally falling asleep for a section of the competition. Looking at the repeat, I'm baffled how her 3-3 got an underrotation, and her lutz got a clear edge call, but I don't see any dinging I expected on Evgenia's 3Lz (getting only a !) and 2nd 3-3 which I would have thought would have been an UR. :/

I believe the 0 for Satoko was due to a rule that the stsq must cover ice from one barrier to another. She is going to have to move a few elements around if that is going to be a problem. sigh.

Look, I think Evgenia is an awesome jumper. But really her artistic presentation is sub-par. There is just the opening and ending over dramatic acting, just like the last season. The composition is almost the same too; arrangement of the jumps, transition between the jumps, step sequence etc.. Don't even get me started on the tune-less music with excessive sound effects. PCS is just ridiculous.

I thought Liza has roots in Udmurtia, not in ancient Egypt. :laugh2::rofl:

that's why she skates the Cleopatra FS :agree:

She became pharaoh at the age of 11 when she landed the 3A for the first time.

Remove the car and ambulance noises and the Sotnikova style acting, and I think we'd be getting somewhere.:ohwell:

Difficult entry, exit and difficult position daring jump?

Out of all that you mentioned, Medvedeva was only able to tick off the difficult position box (tano). I don't know if you saw Osmond's 3F-3T but the height and speed in/out of the combination was ridiculous.

Falls: 1/77
UR jumps: 27/77 -> 35%.
All the ladies (minus Hegelson, Tukt and Da Bin) got almost a !/e
Highest combo score: Chartrand's 3Lz-3T -> 11,40
Highest StSq score: Osmond's and Med's -> 5,40

I think the tech caller just got harsh starting with her and ending with Satoko. After them the bizarre scoring ended.
