Jet lag seems always to play a big role to skaters, so that makes the prediction harder.

This is like an All-Star event. I want all of them on the podium!!!:dance2:

Most GPF qualifyers in Ladies are not determined yet except for Medvedeva. Medaling at COC would qualify Wagner and highly likely Osmond and Radionova, depending maybe on the any unexpected upset by Higuchi and Miyahara at NHK next week where Pogorilaya is almost a shue in to take gold and a spot at the GPF.

Let's hope for good ice condition at this event. No more Pretty Puddle Princesses Podium please.

What? How is Anna a shoe in to win the gold over Satoko at home? Her chances to win are good, but I would hardly call Satoko winning NHK an 'upset'.

Regarding this event, keeping all my fingers crossed for Kaetlyn to do well and get into the GPF! She would be such a great addition there

Maybe I shouldn't consider Anna a sure bet for gold on Satoko's home ice but her chances of making it to the GPF is better than any one else in the running. She has 15 points vs 11 for Satoko and so far she has all the tie breaker advantages over Satoko who has to contend with Kaetlyn, Maria, and Elena who each has 13 points along with 3 others with 11 points.

Yes, I look forward to seeing Kaetlyn at the GPF too.

That is definitely true. Anna chances of making the GPF are great - and I really hope to see her there!

I appreciate all the hard work Doris and the crew do on these GP threads. I copy and paste the info into a doc, so I have a "program" and then sit on the coach, plug in the laptop to the TV, and I can watch live or youtubes . The trouble is, once you sit on our couch, you are covered in dogs....:scratch2: (some of ours actually watch...they like the fast skaters....)

whose coach? :)

Does Hicks has any chance to qualify for the GPF if lets say, she manages to get a Silver here?

Courtney most definitely could qualify with a silver at CoC.

Medvedeva is the only lady with more than 18 points in the current standings. The remaining 5 GPF qualifiers will all be from skaters competing in China or Japan.

Courtney has a little chance for GPF, even with the second place. She had a few points. If Osmond or Radionova will be third, they are above it on points. I think in Japan 3 ladies will be qualified for the final.

She'd want Wagner to get a second gold here, and Pogorilaya a second gold in Japan.

If either of those don't occur, the point spread in the field will probably be too great for Courtney to have much hope, even with a theoretical bronze/silver.

She'd need a surprise to happen at these events... but we've seen a few of those this season. ;)

One of my cats also occasionally takes an interest, almost always when I'm watching on the computer so that he can come and sit directly in front of the computer, completely obstructing my view. In his case though his preferences are definitely music driven... he goes in for the fast music, and also, bizarrely, for Tchaikovsky...

The same cat also hides under the bed whenever Roxanne plays. I have no idea where that came from but I think it's hilarious that he hates that song for skaters as much as I do...

Cats are ruthless music critics. When I was a child, our cat would always come to swat at my brother's flute whenever he practiced. :)

Really deep field again, it will be interesting.
I'm routing for Lena and Kaetlyn! Shame that Rika ended up 6th at SCI, I wish she'd have more of a chance. Don't think Liza is in full shape, but I wish her luck. I'm confident Ashley will qualify and I'm looking forward to what Zijun Li can pull off.

I'm loving the cat stories! Before our beloved Betty Boop passed on in February, I was not allowed to sing anything but "Soft Kitty" in the house. She would run up to me and either swat at my head or put her paw over my mouth if I burst into any other song.

Our new tortie girl, Starlett O'Hairbag, doesn't mind if I sing, and seems to enjoy watching skating on the laptop with me.

Back to the topic - go, everyone! Skate so well the judges don't know how to rank you. :)

Pogo needs only a medal of any color to make the GPF. Satoko really needs that gold to seal the deal.
If Satoko wins gold, Pogo gets bronze and Maria Sotskova wins silver, they likely will ALL get to the GPF.
