Ladies is becoming very hard to enjoy. You have performances like Zijun's and Rika's who barely score over 60, and then you have Medvedeva who scores 15 - 20 points more just because. It makes no sense to me / casual viewer and it damages the sport. Just IMO

Pretty simple if you ask me. The ISU is desperate for a star in ladies figure skating and that's what dictates the scoring. It's why they reward consistency so generously and seem partial to certain types of skaters (the charismatic/charming types).

I think that, for whatever reason, the judges just seem keen to drop Rika off the map. Maybe they are preparing for the new Japanese generation?

I think that's it. For some reason they want her done and gone. Her and Kanako, while I understand Kanako, to a certain extent Rika is still a top skater. What the hell?

I respect Tuktamysheva big time. Compared to Sotnikova who just seemed to disappear, she keeps on going and keeps on fighting even though it is hard for her.
