2017 Europeans Ladies FS

Anna deserved to be on the podium at 2014 Worlds. She deserved to get silver at 2016 Worlds. Imho she deserved silver at GPF. She won't ever beat Evgenia. We get it. But is that a reason to ALWAYS lowball her so that other skaters get their podium place? Argh, just thinking about it is horrible.

Thanks Meoima for telling me what happened. That I couldn't watch it is really a disappointment. I wanted to see Anna's smile.

I agree. And thank you for mentioning another problem: that she won't ever beat Evgenia. I feel bad for Anna that even when she skates well she always has to settle for a placement behind Evgenia because of how the judges inflate the marks. Evgenia is a talented skater and the consistency helps too. It just doesn't mean that she is far better than the rest of the ladies field and should not be winning competitions by more than 6 points. Seriously, there are some parts in Evgenia's skating that other ladies could do better.

hehe Lakernik :agree:
congrats to all medalists!
Im of to listen to the anthem & happily go to sleep:biggrin:
esp congrats to our russians here:ghug: nice results for us :agree:
other nice posters here - thx!:thank:

TEAM MISHIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:points::points:
I hope Zijun is successful too under this team!

I wouldn't exactly say that Maria S was a total disaster She is young. Is she for sure a go to worlds or will there be a skate off with Radinova???

Their talking about The GPF when Evgenia fell on her opening jump. She added in a triple on the second half.

She did not fell, she stepped out. There is such a small amount of errors from Medvedeva that even little stumble people remember as falling

Must be terrible to skate during a time when there is a skater you probably won't ever be able to surpass

She placed 4th. I hardly think a skate-off is needed. Russian Nationals was the time for Elena to beat her, not depend on her messing up at Euros. And judging by Elena's performances, what's to say she would have done better (and I say this as a Radionova fan).

Technically Anna (and Kaetlyn if she's ever on in both SP and FB) can match Evgenia, imo. Sailor Honey Bear has the edge in terms of GOE and PCS (which is argued to death, so I'm not gonna do it besides mention that I look like the confused math meme trying to figure out how she beat Caro on PCS).

WoW what a perfect Ladies Result.. Evgenia Medvedeva , Anna Pogorilaya and Carolina Kostner :luv17: really high level #euroFigure 2017 :luv17: and really welcomeback Carolina such a great come to ice :luv17:  :yahoo: :yahoo:

I cant stop my tears..

For those comaining about Caro's score, please note that Anna got only a ! on her flip which was an obvious Lip even watching in real time. This resulted in her getting full base value and even + GOE. And I love Anna and am glad she won the silver medal

The judges take away enough points from Anna unfairly that they don't need a real reason to take away points. :sarcasm:

Sotskova should go. One bad FS shouldn't negate that. She made the GPF on her first try, after all. Maria is on the rise, while (sadly) Radionova is on the decline.

It's called consistency, the good kind, when you skate almost flawlessly every time.

Consistency is good but I feel extremely underwhelmed when watching her. I can never tell a difference between any performance. If she's on the roster then we already know her placement, her scores will be bigger and bigger for the same thing and arms flying overhead. It's just not exciting for me. Sorry.

For me, it's not a huge tragedy that Medvedeva made an extra combo, but it does leave a slightly bad taste in the mouth.

A competition is about seeing who performs best within a certain set of rules. If you want to flaunt (and doing something just because you can does count as flaunting in my book), there are many ways to do that within the set rules: as others have mentioned, trying out various different jump combinations, thinking of interesting transitions and other elements. Being technical and really original would achieve an even greater effect

Again, what happened is not a big deal, just sightly unpleasant.

Anyway, congrats to all the medalists, they really deserved it! :thank:

I just want to express my respect and bow to both Annas through happy and angry tears - for last 2 years they showed steely consequence and determination, Tsareva pursuing the path, methody envisioned for Anna, Pogorilaya - sticking with Tsareva and blossoming, developig in every area possible. There was grit, guts, fight, strenght and purpose in this performance, a mature widsom, a cool head and a hunger.

For me, while Medvedeva's real strenght is her jumps consistency and she expresses herself by them, Anna speaks, breaths and lives by her performance each time I see her, regardless of technical content. I can connect with her by her skating, there is no sense of unbalance and questions.

you can throw stones at me now...
