2017 Four Continents Men SP | Page 26 | Golden Skate

2017 Four Continents Men SP

34 pages and the competition hasn't started yet.

:scratch2:  :dbana:
I predict the actual competition will take only about 5 pages (since most will be asleep), but then at least 15 more will be for heated debate over protocols and people being over/underscored.

(useless post to help the page count)

here's black bird kermit

how to dress kermit in black bird

journey jewel

i remember seeing kermit wearing the journey as well but cannot find anymore :(

Thank Gawd.............When I saw that first question about Patrick and Kermit, I thought Patrick was running around in a Kermit Costume......;) I used to have a Cabbage Patch Doll that I would dress in my costumes....I was such a dork.. This is not me but, that's my doll....http://liciabobesha.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/cabbage-patch-kid.jpg

I am eagerly awaiting commentary. Of any kind, English or Russian or Japanese or...just for the factor of them not quite believing what they're hearing.

Laugh and enjoy. It's super voidy and super fun.

Boo, I wanted BESP commentary on the Nokia SP.

Do you know if Mark will be at Worlds? Because if he is, then we will definitely get to hear their comments on it

Already 34 pages! Every time I check on the thread lately, another new GS record is renewed. :)

A news about Keven's ambition of 6 quads is shocking and exciting. I tried to watch the film Grand Piano before 4CC because its sound track is used for his FS, but couldn't sadly due to lacks of spare time these days. I love his both programs, so attempted to understand his LP. I kind of hope he can still surprise us just like he won the 2013 4 continent event. :)

well if yuzu doesn't win, there will be some pages written because it will mean that either
1) he didn't do well.. and that will worry everyone
2) he got beaten doing well, most likely by someone with higher TES... which will mean that people will wonder if he needs to improve his layout or if the winners deserved their PCS....

So i think that yuzuru not winning gold will bring the most pages ....

About 1 : when they worry, they usually do it over in the fan thread... which explains why the fan thread has that many pages.

About 2 : He's been beaten quite a few times for the past few years, but every single time, it was because he didn't skate well. If Yuzu skates well and is being beaten nonetheless, I think the number of pages will explode, but not because of that; rather because if someone beats a very good Hanyu, then chances are they also beat all Wolrd records. And that would get people talking

Discussion about how deserving the winner/medalists are will come later.

And I think I should find a bookmaker already, because I can already predict that the winner, no matter who it is, will invariably attract commenters saying he totally deserves it, and commenters who will prove to the world by A + B how much he doesn't deserve anything that's been handed to him in the past year/decade. At least one person will mention name+flation. Someone will get personnaly offended.
Maybe we should open a new prediction thread? Based on previous threads, I think I could get a muuuuuch higher score than I ever did during the GP predictions

It'll be an epic fight, with the GOE in front row, holding off the attacks of the PCS, but that's not counting of the Skating Sill afficionadoes, who will enter the fightunannounced, from the side. Of course, General IKNOWANINSIDER will have a few wise words to share to boost the moral of their troops. The battle will only break appart long enough to let The Protocols enter the scene (cue the Imperial March theme). After that, what was a full out war will become a mix of trench warfare and guerilla tactics. It will last 347 pages, and no side will win at the end, but they will all agree to disagree (well, they will, at page 250, but then, they will rescind that peace treaty on page 251...).

1) gosh, they worry a lot then LOL... we Patrick fans just swoon over other voluptuous things in the fan fest :laugh2:

2) valid point

3)

4) i hope the moderators will close the thread before it goes to 347 pages LOL

Really..................:disapp:

Don't get me wrong, i love Chan, but these things need to be planned at least 1 year ahead. And we are already in 2017 so... seems to make sense?

There's only so much practical reasons to keep up the good fight for the love of skating, especially when PCS is not adquately/proportionally rewarded. There's literally no room for him to compete on PCS, especially he deserve bigger gap to the rest of the field for sheer quality. His skating skills scores relative to others should deserve at least a quad or a 3A, yet it doesn't even make up 1/10th difference of a quad in numericals. Blame the system...

1) Oh, there is swooning too, about as much as worrying :laugh2: .

4) Nooooo, if they close the thread before page 347, I'll lose points in the prediction thread! (that said, if the thread is already 100 pages *before* the even actually starts, 347 isn't that crazy of a number!).

sure.. but if he weren't skating, the system would look okay ;) so he better keep skating and show the world that the system is broken... in the meantime, we enjoy the pure beauty of his skating and programs. You know, if Patrick wants 4 quads in his long, he has all the material to do it... he said two very important things
1) he doesn't want to remove too much of the program and adding a 4th quad would do that in his opinion.
2) he loves sports... all kinds of sports... and he wants to leave this one able to ski, mountain climb and so on....

He has made his choices and sure, the system may not reward him/his choices... but in some ways, it's even better that way. Win or lose, I enjoy every of his outings as I know there won't be that many until he is retired. I urge anyone who hasn't seen him live to try to go watch him compete. He is sublime. I am still in shock from Canadian Nationals and I was already a fan... but he is beyond reality.

The system has been broken for a few years (or rather has been exploited fully by the system architect to take full advantage of its inadequacies out of 'convenience'). The fact Satoko's 3lz3t practically equals Anna Pogo's 3lz3t or some of Yuna's best 3lz3t scores should send alarm bells, but most people just shrug with excuses say let's just enjoy it for what it is.

Until the current ISU governance finally has a change of guards, or until Russia get their very own Patrick Chan, Carolina Kostner or those who can compete on PCS. There will be no decision to fix the system until those in charge of the sport have reasons to, that can favour their own.

----------------

Actually, upon a 2nd thought, didn't they say they were going to increase the GOEs to + or -5. this is actually quite alarming... this further disadvantage those who deserves higher PCS, they should have also expanded the PCS out of 20 to make the scoring a bit more balanced.

We can only send one to Worlds . So it will be Brendan. Mark doesn't have the minimums either.

That's because the ISU uses logarithmic scale to score PCS. :whack:

Like the earthquake Richter scale or the long term stock chart, the highest values are squashed to be a tiny fraction of their true values relative to those at the lower levels. Thus a true difference of over 5 points in PCS may be shown only as 0.1 to 0.2 depending how high it is above 90. An equivalence of a quad in skating skills is given about 0.1 point above the equivalence of a triple jump.

Hah this thread is epic! Maybe it needs to be retitled to the pre-Men's competition and then the *actual* SP thread.

The amount of quads is astonishing. Like, wow, now a 3-quad FS is a minimum to have a shot of winning.

3 is not enough.... when so many do 4 and now 5...

But 3 landed is better than 4 or 5 not landed... we will see.

What I would like to see happen is that judges DEDUCT PCS scores IF (not saying it will happen here) programs are diluted to allow so many quads...

After seeing some skaters live, I am getting pickier... I did not like seeing skate skate skate to the end of the ice : JUMP... skate skate skate to the other end of the ice : JUMP...

it's so boring ;) looked almost like curling ;) (which I like btw) ... just from the feeling of skating from one end to the other...

We will see though...

PS... I blame Chan fans for at least 100 of the posts in this thread :) the funniest part is that we are not talking chiddy much if at all, just excited by the line-up :)

The clip of Brendan yesterday showed him lining up a 4T after his ChSq, which suggests to me perhaps he's giving a three quad FS a shot...
