2017 Worlds Free Dance

Honestly if Madison were a little younger and ice dance in the USA weren't SUCH a bloodbath I'd think she should consider trying to find a new partner. It seems to me it's always him who's falling all over the place.

It's very odd what is going on with Mr Bates. He used to be Mr Dependable, and I always thought vastly underrated as a skater. But he and Andrew Poje seem to have gotten a big mental block about twizzles. Andrew, thankfully, seems to have overcome his. Evan needs to do the same.

Then again, the judges never really warmed to the Under Pressure program, because frankly they're fuddy duddies. Major major fuddy duddies. Yawn.

...and it's become so polite and sanitary. Instead of everyone training with each other and smiling when they get beaten by rinkmates who fell, ice dancers used to be full-on divas that got into barfights and trashed each other in the media. Those were the days.

:laugh::laugh2:

Madison has had her share of hiccups too so I can't put the blame squarely on Zach's shoulders. Honestly, I think I'm kind of done with rooting for them. This is Jeremy Abbott and Joshua Farris all over again for me. My poor heart can't take it again.

I still dont think Morozov is a good coach for Weaver & Poje. He is a good technical coach I suppose but even with that they have been making silly technical miscues most of the year so ever there he might not be their best fit. Their programs this year suck and dont suit them at all. While they were still blatantly ROBBED of the bronze to the perennialy way overscored Shibutanizzzz, had they had even slightly more interesting or suitable programs for their style they would have gotten the bronze even with the Shibutanis, Bobrova & Soloviev, and a couple of the other usual suspects typical Christmas gift exchange from the judges.

I would like to see them with a new coach next year but sadly am pretty sure that wont happen. Hopefully this 4th can still give them some momentum though.

I think it's less about W/P being Canada 3 (in bobsled terms) but rather that Piper and Paul are more likely to be continuing than W/P. With V/M and W/P gone G/P are our best team. They are probably trying to set them up to take over the Canada 1 sled for 2019. Skate Canada has to think ahead. G/P have more potential right now if they are staying in.

All 3 of those teams you mentioned are the locks for the U.S Olympic team. There is no way any of the trio miss it, including Hubbell & Donohue. Who is going to beat them, Hawayak & Baker?

I said the Shibs locked up their spot on the Olympic team "in the team event." This is important because in the last Olympics, the Shibs did not get to skate in the team event and missed an easy bronze.

If H/D had gotten the bronze here, the shake-up in rankings would've made the situation more interesting. Now, S/S is guaranteed, whether C/B get a spot depends on the whole team strategy and where they choose to use the substitutions.

With B/S getting 3rd in the Free Dance it is just setting them up nicely for next year. I mean what would an Olympic Dance event be without a RUS team getting a medal!

Maybe they will be beaten by the new Russian team, or rather the old Russian team lol - I/K. Rising from the ashes they come together. A story of fire and ice, black and white, diva and diva, passion and hate - back together I/K part II. Oops, sorry fell asleep. must have been a dream. Wink wink.

Was it her at Nats? I might stand partially corrected then...

I used to be a huge fan of these two 3-4 years ago, but I both saw them in person and was less impressed with them live (though I suspect/hope they've improved since then) and their inconsistency has started to wear me down. I do still wish the best for them but it's hard not to feel frustrated.

Yep she had a big splat at Nationals (not even on an element), although it was earlier on in the program. I just looked at their protocol--all 4's until that and all 9's in PCS :bang: They were literally two elements away from becoming USA #1.

I have to disagree with this comment. IMO, The Shibs are a bit like Rachael Flatt. They simply don't give anything away or leave points on the ice. From a judging standpoint, you have to give credit where it is do. This was a wild event in almost every element. With the exception of Med, none of the defending champions skated their best here. Dance still hasn't aired on the west coast so, I haven't seen any of the programs.....I am surprised to hear about Scott's mishap on twizzles.....

Scott did not have a mishap on the twizzles. He had a stumble elsewhere in the program that lost them a few points, but it was nothing catastrophic.

Catastrophic twizzles went to both H/D (with him wiping out spectacularly and invalidating the whole element) and C/B who were just a complete mess.

It was Madison's fall at Nationals that may have caused them losing 2nd place. But, I agree that Zach is more prone to incidents.

Bingo.

Ok, I wish they would bring back the Hitchcock program next year, because with Paul's massive ankle injury they never really got to skate it when they were healthy and fully trained with it. And it's simply one of the most brilliant FDs I've ever seen.

Well we have all spring and summer to post about what programs we want our fave rave teams to skate for the Olympic season. Let the kvetching begin!

oh la la gabriella and guillaume!!

so happy that this fd that so many dislike got a world record. you were the best tonight. thank you thank you. when i saw the tes score didn't believe it.

H/D too bad they were space for them.

W/P 4th!!!! bravo

now i knew that even if V/M made mistake the french will be second because of the sd score. but the score they got really? 116 with mistake. no
didier was pissed at french tv.

it seems that if you are virtue and moir you can:

- fall and not lose point
- have not perfect twizzles can get a level 4
-make mistake ang get 58 in tes
-make mistake and get 116

and the best (to me the worst) thing is that everyone is fine with it.

i'm not bitter or angry or a bad loser and the last thing i want it's to be mean. but don't want that to happen next year at olympic game!!! please please. that's all ;

What a farce. V/M getting pozitive goe and even +3 for the steps. P/C should have won

because the mistake happened where it did, some judges considered the steps were done and they didn't remove points, others did remove plenty of points when considering the misstep was in the sequence. I am not surprised to see disagreement here from judges not punishing at all, an others removing various amount of GOE

For every Swan Lake there is a Ghost.

People seem to forget that.

So, was Scott's mistake on the Circular Step Sequence? Because the GOE on that is all over the place, -2 to 3.

yes... either considered in the sequence... some judges saw it after the sequence, probably deducted in PCS but not GOE...
