Patrick Chan

The SP scores are higher than I thought. Well, that's the magic of 2 quads. The LP scores are much lower than I expected. Why such low TES? 2 quads and 2 3As, right? And clean. technically, that is. Performance is far far more than clean.

only one quad... he tripled the salchow and second toe...

he also doubled the lutz and flip at the end... that's why the TES is very low... but nothing to worry about.

I actually find the SP score okay but the PCS is low IMHO... very low... perhaps the fall is reflected in there... but 92 and dust for Patrick in the SP (46.32) is NOT good enough.

94.9 is a bit better in the LP... though, and again, IMHO, these programs are worth 110 in PCS :)

LOL I was so taken by his performance that I didn't count rotations, which were just blurs. PCS? Judges were probably figuring he would get even better so they left room. After all, they can't give him 150 PCS at the Olympics! It's like judges put him in his own class without relation to other Men.

A life lived trumps precocious wisdom in its realness. The mature voice and feelings from real experiences.......

Yes, it fits right in with the 沧海桑田, 看破紅塵 theme.

VB, I can't think of any other better words rather than these 8 Chinese characters to fit in the theme of this song IMHO :agree:   :cool2:.

I used them because I couldn't think of any English word that would better portray the emotions, especially as can be felt from this version.

Wow! Just got back to see all of the pages of posts. It's awesome to see all active fans here!

Maybe he would wear some really dusty clothes and create a dust-in-the-wind effect as he speeds across the rink. ;)

He's worn a nice brown costume before, right? Even though I'd call him a dust devil or a tornado across the rink!

ETA: YAY! 1300th post made in Chiddy thread!:yahoo::dance3::dance2:

Congratulations! You did that on purpose, didn't ya? ;)

I'm glad that you like it. Here it is:

Great timing, lol! ;) I started working on this two days ago. I wasn't going to change my avatar until after Patrick debuted his Hallelujah program. I had no idea it would be this weekend.

Lol, great timing indeed! You just had that second sense about Patrick going! :agree:

Thank you! Glad to see the whole thing in one shot. I think both of these new programs just prove that Patrick can skate beautifully to just about anything. And I think they did a good job emphasizing the instrumental parts of Hallelujah at the beginning and end of the program.

Official score sheets were posted on twitter by SylviaUnseen

SP https://twitter.com/SylviaUnseen/status/899082203296129024
Patrick Chan SP debut 96.55 (51.23 TES/46.32 PCS -1): "4T+3T, 4S step out, 3A fall. Beautiful soft skating."

LP: https://twitter.com/SylviaUnseen/status/899075330266193920
Patrick Chan's FS score was 174.16 (79.26 TES/94.90 PCS) today in debut

Of course Patrick won hands down, but then again he only had one competitor... I do feel for #2, but hopefully Patrick inspired and encouraged him to be a better skater! :agree:

Hi, I hope it’s not a bad time to post this (I am new to this thread). Late notice, but I made a Patrick blog on tumblr a week or two ago. If you do use the site, I hope you’ll give it a look, and like it! It’s at http://fypchan.tumblr.com

Welcome, fcpchan! Glad to finally see you here.

Your site is looking good!
Thank you so much! It took time between our last convo because the videos page was embarassingly incomplete. There are still gaps unfortunately, but I'm working on them.

You may call me Aen, but if you remember me by my username, no worries! I enjoyed reading everyone's thoughts on his new programs. As for me, I especially love his free skate.

Sorry I spelled your name wrong. As usual, I notice mistakes when quoted. :o: It's been duely corrected, Aen.

I especially love Patrick's new LP too. As os pointed out, his programs and skating are gimmick free. It's pure. It's expressive. It's musical. It's sublime.

hehe OS and I ;) we both mentioned the gimmick-free zone that are Patrick's programs in back to back posts on page 682 LOL ;) sorry... but I claim this thing because it's so important to me ;) it's the sign of a true artist when one doesn't need to use cheap gimmicky crowd pleasing artificial gunk ... and Patrick is there ;)

So you must disapprove of my "suggestion" that he leaves real dust in the wind for the SP?

Oooooh, I like that. Diamond dust!

I've pondered about the synchronicity of Dust In The Wind and a Chinese fan's comment on his interview as being like he has 看破红尘. So what kind of dust is in Patrick's wind? Red dust? Diamond dust? Gold dust? Fairy dust?

There will be tears, of various kinds. I hope to see some in Patrick's eyes on the Olympic podium.

It is so unbelievable to see my comment on Weibo discussed in GS... I never have thought that “红尘” can be related with “dust”, but it is suitable unexpectedly...

Welcome welcome, Jeffchiddy, to The Fest! You're almost famous here before you honoured us with your first GS post! I'm glad by bringing your comment over here, I've spurred your presence. Join the tribe. Post long. Post often.

Yes, sometimes the literal meaning of a phrase or an idiom can be thoroughly forgotten when people only know and use it for what it represents.

P.S. As I originally didn't have access to the Chinese interview, I tried to get a gist of it by the comments posted. Yours was particularly interesting so I brought it here. BTW, Patrick had not chosen or revealed his new program music at the time of the interview. Your comment was also poignant as it seems to suit the theme of his programs for this season as well as his new Zen mindset.

P.P.S. Your comment also almost spurred 4everchan to become a monk!
