2018 US Championships Sr. Ladies FS

True, she needs to fix it. I kept yelling, "Rotate, Karen, rotate!" [emoji23]

But the panel seems a bit... inconsistent in who they decide to hammer.

Right?!? I could have sworn most of her jumps were clean at first glance. I was screaming so much though maybe I wasn't the most observant audience member  her triple triple was the cleanest I've ever seen it though

Ashley has a hard time trying to smile at the podium.

Her PCS should be revised and given 10s for this performance. I mean, the last thing she wants to do right now is be polite and smile, but she is playing the part. Jagged little pill to swallow, the pewter medal is.

i don't get why people keep saying that either...they are both the reason. not just one...both their placements were enough, not just karen.

Sorry if u don't get it, Even Ashley said that Karen saved their spots last year.

Karen's performance at Worlds last year will probably give her the edge over Ashley.

She secured her own spot there it seems lol.

Mirai's story is one of perseverance, lovely to see her defeat her demons here. Ashley also fought a similar battle but she had her storybook ending in Boston :)

Both Bradie and Karen got higher PC's than Ashley (for both programs)...

Ashley deserved the bronze. She was very underscored and deserves to go to Korea.

I agree with you, but she doesn't deserve to go under these circumstances. I'd rather her not go than see a repeat of 2014.

Agreed so much. Karen seems so sweet, and I'm happy for her. Still, I think her results were wrongly inflated compared to Ashley, who was blatantly underscored.

This. I have nothing against Karen, and I think as an overall skater she is the most talented, but technically she is subpar. She got 4 technical calls and

I've never seen so much positive GOE given for < and e calls. Even her downgraded 3S got a -2!

I also think she was gifted the spot on her 2A+3S... it honestly looked UR in slow motion, but they must have given her benefit of the doubt.

They may think none has a chance for a medal but Bradie can use the experience for the next Olympics.

Not like she'll have a prayer then either. Look at the new generations, it's an even bigger gap than now and Bradie is actually older than Medvedeva.

Yet again another extremely important comp where Karen came through (last years nats and Worlds as well). Karen's the main reason we have 3 spots anyway, Ashley came in as the reigning silver medalist at Worlds and blew it:confused2:

Good call Yatagarasu. Pushing Bradie does seem like an attempt to secure the team bronze. Giving her the highest PCS of the event is still ridiculous, we have eyes judges.

Her PCS should be revised and given 10s for this performance. I mean, the last thing she wants to do right now is be polite and smile, but she is playing the part. Jagged little pill to swallow, the pewter medal is.

WHYYYYYYYY does the pewter medal exist other than sadism???

I am out of my mind happy for Mirai. But, oh god this will so tough in either scenario.... I love Karen and Ashley both so much and aghhhhhhhhhhhhh

I would send Ashley to Olympics and Karen to worlds. Pull a reverse Japan. Ashley got underscored in PCS in both segments, while Karen got the benefit of the doubt in the SP. Karen also got a salad of carrots in the FP, like she has all year. She did get placed in Bronze by the judges, so she should still get a good assignment, but if USFSA is smart, they send Ashley, the one who has been doing the press and advertisements, to the Olympics for her Swan Song, and Karen to Worlds, to prep for the future.

Because press and advertisements are so important, right? More important than the actual skating???????????

You are all fighting for who is going while Wakaba, Elena, Rika, Polina T, Mai and I don't know who other more exciting skaters I forgot will stay home. Think about that.

I actually don't care who gets to the Olympics. I just want to see a clean La La Land, which I surprisingly liked! I hope Wagner, who'll likely get a 4CC of something, decides to go and just skates it clean with no inhibitions.

Right. Because that's how PCS works. :rolleye:

well skating skills is what keeps Carolina Kostner still competitive despite the embarrassingly low jump content and its kept a number of men competitive as well so I guess seeing posters here think that isn't too strange :confused2:

although I agree it shouldn't work like that

Ashley wuzrobbed.

I'm emotional about it. I'll admit it. But who scores their only world medalist LESS at Nationals than they received that season internationally. (Also, I hate La La Land the movie and music, but that program felt fresh, and Ashley is the only lady who can perform as well as the best in the world.)

I'm over everyone on the internet treating Mirai like a victim.

At least I understand Bradie's overscoring, because I don't blame USFS for wanting to do like Russia and Japan and put their most consistent girls on top, even if they are lackluster in certain areas. Consistency wins in the ladies' events internationally.

I do think Bradie should try backloading next season. If any US lady can do it, it's her. So much solidity and confidence. It's admirable, and it's what's been missing from the US ladies for a long time. Plus, skating last definitely put her in the pressure cooker. Heck, I think she should do both team programs.

Well we all have pretty low standards from Wagner in terms of freshness considering the never-ending Moulin Rouge's we've gotten from her.
