2018 US Championships Sr. Ladies FS

JUST WATCHED BRADIE'S LONG PROGRAM.. i AM soooooO hAPPY FOR HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SHE SHOWED THE OTHER LADIES HOW IT'S DONE!!!! gREAT INSPIRATIONAL PROGRAM, DREAMS REALLY DO COME TRUE......OLYMPIC WORTHY. I KNOW SHE'S GOING TO GET PICKED! USFSA ISN'T SO DUMB AFTERALL!

SHE DESERVES BETTER FANS THAN THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE SAYING SHE IS BORING, GENERIC, UGLY, ETC. WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE, HUH??? GIRL'S GOING TO THE OLYMPICS...JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO, SHE WASN'T EVEN CONSIDERED, A NO NAMER, UNDISCOVERED, AND YET NOW SHES STANDING ATOP THE US NATIONALS PODIUM, NO COMPANY SPONSHORSHIP, ie COUGH gRACIE, COUGH DIVA ASHLEY, JUST REAL HARD WORK, TALENT, AND SKILL.

She EARNED every point tonight. Haters can pout all they want.

Huge Congratulations to Bradie Tennell!!!! Good luck at Olympics, you wonderful lady!
:eeking: back away from the keyboard.... Back away slowly...

Go Bradie. Clean back to back!!
Congrats Mirai
Karen should go to the Olympics
Ashley is already complaining:palmf:

Do any of you who have commented on the last to or three pages figure skate? From what I saw, Ashley was over marked in the PCS marks in her FS. She should have been marked lower than Starr. Starr was absolutely clean and had good jumps. Starr was cleaner than Karen Chen in the FS and should have been 4th overall.

Actually, yes I have and do. Former elite competitive figure skater and now pro. Your turn.

Ashley will be an alternate won't she? I think she did a great job tonight, I hope she won't retire. I was very happy to see Mirai smiling again, she has looked so sad in past years after she skated. I think the US ladies have some great talents going into the Olympics and I hope they all do well. Maybe they won't feel as much pressure as they are all going in as underdogs.

judges were so ridiculous tonight playing their little games... that's why I say, just judge what you see in competition and the rest will eventually turn out so much better than playing all these mind games

1. Overlooking Mirai's UR in both SP and FS. She'd probably still be second overall if they had called her UR, because Mirai skated an (for her) exceptionally clean FS, but that SP score was not deserved

2. when did Ashley fall out of grace? Is it because she pulled out of SA? I know she was slow in the SP but it's not like that's something new and her performance quality hasn't regressed, so why that sudden dip in PCS?
So judges first put her down in PCS in the SP, then in the FS she brings it and they still are stingy with the PCS (for their standard).
Then they see Karen bring it too and changes their minds, showering Karen will lots of undeserved and shady UR calls, but it's no use, Karen still ends up above Ashley

So in the end we have:
- lost popularity and audience because of this shady judging, UR calls as they like and PCS as they like
- lost potentially young skaters because of this shady judging, UR calls as they like and PCS as they like
- not even a change in result as Karen is still above Ashley
- no clear message to fellow skaters of what USFS values in PCS. It's probably the SS, as Karen's PCS were a tick higher than Ashley's, but since all those years and historically the US also valued performance and interpretation quality (and now suddenly doesn't anymore), who knows?

Ashley has always gotten higher PC scores from the international judges; I don't know why our judges always gave her lower scores.

I....really liked Mariah Bell's performance today. Just off what I remember feeling, she's one of my top two tonight. Left an impression that she had some really clean and elegant skating.

I don't have a really strong opinion on tonight's final standings, but to all who say Ashley's PCS should've been higher... What do you think it should have been? I thought most were against reputation judging, and I felt that this program was not intricate--emotionally or technically. It was quite sparse in terms of transitions, and I just don't think the Interpretation and Performance were there.

Having said that, I have nothing but respect for what Ashley did here. I think performing LaLa Land for the first time was courageous, and I think it was the right choice.

Ok, so i will speak. In my own FS history (aka the time when i started to watch competitions) Ashley is the only American women who won the medal. Furthermore, i was watching FS on different TV stations, and Ashley skating was praised in every one of them, from Russian commentators to Japanese one. Every single one of them loved her... i deeply understand the point that Ashley probably wont win a medal for USA in next Olympic with tonights kind of skating, but if someone think that Karen, Mirai or Bradie can, then send them to the Oly, i have no problem with that. But i really think thats hardly realistic consedering the competion in the world right now, and because of that i would send the skater who all the world love to see the most.

Her PCS also beat Wakaba's bond... just no no no... they really held Wagner down in PCS and Karen in TES.

I like Bradie and she deserved to win, but not b as much as she did. Her pcs is still developing and should have been scored accordingly. Wakaba is definitely bette at this than Bradie at this stage of their careers.

She is a white girl attempting to throw shade on twitter. Weak shade without looking at her own self in the mirror. It is only harsh when she is genuinely trying. And in this case, she just wants to run her mouth.

Frank is that you? Lol the only person who she threw genuine shade to was Frank...all the others were honest criticism that wasn't super harsh.

I’m confused at who called Bradie ugly? I think that’s just you trying to build a head of steam.

Bradie is a consistent jumper. They don’t get a ton of height, but are rotated well. Her jumps remind me of Evan Lysacek. Quick twitch. More height and less free leg reach around than Satoko, but not enough virtuosity to get the praise she is receiving.

I do feel bad for Ashley. If this were 2016, things might have turned out differently. Or maybe if she had competed Lala Land during the season instead of waiting till the last minute. I like that so much better than MR. But she's got a World silver medal, plus Oly team bronze, and she's already had the Oly experience. World/Oly medal is much tougher for US ladies now, considering the strength of the Russian and Japanese ladies. Ashley is a very savvy woman, she'll be fine. I predict a commentary duo with her and Adam in the not too distant future.:)

My guess is Ashley will be an alternate.

But aren't scores at all countries' Nationals pretty much elevated? They are all on home turf, after all. And it's obvious some of our skaters need the ego boost, something to award the countless hours of hard work. What does it hurt?

It hurts the whole sport, because the scores go up when they aren't deserved. World records should stand for longer than they do (like my example of Tuktamysheva/Medvedeva), because unless the elements improve, the scores shouldn't go up. Which they do, when they're padded by a national fed like they're being thrown out of a helicopter with no parachute.
