I think Vancouver was sad and sochi was sad but I believe Aljona would accept this possible third Bronze.

It would be a lot like Queen Khorkina! upset with silver in 1996, pissed off and angry with silver in 2000 yet thrilled and excited with bronze in 2004.

The journey this time around was a lot tougher with more challenges and obstacles so what ever color medal it ends up being it would be a victory even if one desperately wanted a certain one. She really should be proud no matter what happens tomorrow. Not a lot of skaters can do what she has

I know. Right now, I think pairs is the discipline with the most depth and all the teams actually give a performance. I hope more people come to appreciate pairs!

If you read Ice Network, they have an interesting article about how Pairs is uhm, "learning" (aka stealing) from Ice Dance:

And now Pairs is one of the two most exciting disciplines in skating (betcha can't guess what I think the other one is!).

They have a huge decision to make. A clean 3A could make up some of the difference if the other teams make mistakes.

Seeing 3 very serious intense routines and then being surprised by Aguilera?

Are you talking about T/M or D/R? I'm confused because despite their problems T/M have better lines (objectively) and are more aesthetically pleasing (subjectively) than D/R.

LOL t/m with the better lines and ss obv. But behind d/r on everything else

I think the Germans, Chinese and Russians are so much more polished in their skills then the Canadians that if the performances are close in terms of cleanliness it would be the Canadians that get left off the podium

I think D/R will need to be clean and hope for the other teams to make mistakes to get on the podium which is definitely not unrealistic and out of the question. It's far far from over for any in the top 4!

I can imagine Sui falling twice!

But I cannot imagine both.

I think they should try to be clean like in Nagoya and set the bar high.

Actually, I think that would increase the ratings. LOL. I suspect T/M are being paid by NBC or whoever holding the TV rights.

EEK. Yes, Sui/Han are the standard, but gosh did I wish that Aliona would finally get her gold medal. I'm sorry but if I was her, I'd be soooooo pissed off. Four years of all the hard work, just so he could DOUBLE a salcow?!??!?! Unacceptable. I was landing 2sals without a private coach decades ago. Completely unacceptable. A fall? Yeah, that sucks. A double? Don't EVEN speak to me. Aliona must be fuming.

It seems positively ridiculous to eliminate only 6 teams after the SP. Either eliminate more or let them all skate the LP. This is the Olympics for god sake, not worlds, there's more meaning to the competition for the skaters. Let them all have their moment :agree:
