2018 Olympic Figure Skating Pairs SP

Bronze means nothing to her, its all or nothing for Aliona. What a queen.

Some of them really try, but yeah, still too many programs ending in a painfully slow and seemingly never-ending pair spin...

For some years there, before they added the spins to ice dancing, I'd become so used to the terrible quality of the pairs spins that I'd more or less resigned myself that this really was the best the element could be. Then I saw the ice dancers do them and it was like the sun breaking through the clouds. They were fast and seamless between positions and change of foot. People were doing innovative positions. They really added to the programs, rather than being something that detracted. Pairs, take note.

I bet if a pair really worked at it and did a great spin it would get some notice, since most of them are at such a poor quality at present.

I won't say anything about the lack of chemistry or emotions (because it's here or not) but why on earth this SP for T/M that awkwardly constructed? Seems like this masterpiece music just has been shredded and attached in chaotic way. Still way better than FP though. But nothing, even Aguilera, will stop judges to throw PCS at them anyway.

Ohh S/M... Their FP is so amazing. Hope they will clean tomorrow!

And OK, but when you the only one who's giving S/H +2 for the throw 3F and 8's (which is totally ridiculous) for the components it leaves some questions. How do you think, judge No7?

The scary thing is that in S\Ms FS the first 5 elements are all the jump elements

So if those aren't successful the remaining 2 and a half minutes will be excruciating

So you think it's just scare tactics?

I think their coach will stop her.

The 3ATh is risky but they practiced it.

They have not practiced the quadtwist and the especailly the 4STh.... It is not possible for her to land the 4STh...

Will be two falls and a fifth place.

I really like T/M but please God, don´t let they win the gold medal :gaah:, S/H deserve it more than anyone :bow:.

No need to sheild yourself from unexpected halfpipe spoilers back then. ;)

Well, not halfpipe, because it wasn't in the Olympics. But I used to go to extremes to avoid spoilers. I used to take time off work for the Olympics and watch. In 1994 I got spoiled on the Nancy/Tonya results in MY DOCTOR'S OFFICE. Clearly I'm still annoyed. And it was so worth avoiding spoilers. WOW. At any rate, being an Alexa and Chris fan is kind of like being a Cubs fan before the championship. Very frustrating.

How do we know they haven't tried those in practice?

I remember them trying the throw Quad in competition last season, No?

Yes, it was the very last element in their Rostelecom FS. Hard for me to forget that surprise ending

Then in France, Aljona sprained her ankle in the 3ATh so they naturally didn't go for the 4Sth there, and didn't try a quad for the rest of the season (smart move).

Exactly...

If she want the 4tw. Ok. The worst thing could happen is that she collapses on his shoulders. They will miss 2 points and thats it.

But she will fall at the 3ATh and at the 4STh!!please not Aljona. please not.

I really don't wan't Aliona to self-implode. Their most likely way to get over 160 is just to skate their layout at GPF. And still, Sui/Han would have to make mistakes for them to win, EVEN if they do score 160.

Sad for Peng and Jin. They could have qualified with the fall, but the < made the difference. :( They're a beautiful team and I was looking forward to their free skate.

Five pairs had lower TES than Katia and Harley yet finished ahead of them. FIVE.

*curls into a crying bundle of sad*

SOMEONE DO THE MATHS: Can Aljona and Bruno place higher?

And I do not want to see Duhamel/Radford on this podium. Their gold medal is enough for their whole unartistic figure skating career.
Ihear you but one can argue certainly Aliona and her partner don't deserve a medal she has had her chance many times, Bruno is not an equal skater, she didn't exactl on best of terms with Robin and maybe sometimes too driven to win, the Italian teams and French don't deserve a medal here either flukng out of the olympics while others have been consistent on the world scenedoesn'tseem fair. The Russian secondary teams are very blah even more blah than T?M. The fairest solution and most obvious - give a medal to Stolbova and Klimov!

MAGNIIIIIIFICAT, MAGNIIIIIFICAT

I somehow always manage to justify this music choice to myself through a series of logical non-sequiturs which ends with the conclusion that Della Monica, Guarise and the Pope are all from Italy. :dance2:
