2018 Olympic Figure Skating Pairs FS

Perhaps, but they also do a lot of transitions in and out too, so I suppose that's why they did it. But again, I'm looking at the overall program, not just the jump elements.

Transitions dont do a program
Anyway , composition is blah, they put those lift in weird places, where music has nothing to do with elements..Skaters look too anemic also. Music is too emergetic to them.

I was looking at the choreography, not the transitions.

S/M do all their big throws and jumps at the beginning of the program and then all the other, easier pair skating elements. In that way it's a poorly choreographed program and I'm glad the judges noticed that.

It is part of the concept. This program puts focus on transistions and is building up to this final lift!

The judges did not noticed that the Russian ladies put all their jump elements in the second half. From this point of view the choreography is just bad.

Finally caught up and I'm in tears!!! This was my dream result. A heartbreaker for Sui and Han, but I hope gold can be theirs in Beijing!

Can I just say what a wonderful person Megan Duhamel is? Watching her good sportsmanship has been an absolute highlight of the games. Her congratulations to Aliona was so heartfelt.

I'm seeing posts questioning the "hate" towards T/M. I can't speak for others but I adore them; they're my beautifully classical yet wonderfully dorky sweeties. The deserve to be stars and, with the right programs and fewer mistakes, they will be. They are not the pair who should be skating a program like Candyman. It doesn't suit them, they don't know what to do with it. Their choreographer needs to sit down with them and get to know who they really are.

I think this team could handle uptempo, modern music with the right choices. If that's the route they want to go, then I'd like to see their team think outside the box and send them out to someone known for helping skaters develop their own styles. I'd especially like to see what Marie-France Dubreuil, John Kerr, Misha Ge or Shae-Lynn Bourne could create with them.

Or, and this may seem an uninspired thought, what about Lori Nicol? When Lori clicks with a skater she creates signature pieces and T/M seem like the type of team that might inspire her. Evgenia has a similar quiet grace matched with quirkiness as Caro; I feel as if Lori would know how to bring that out on the ice.

I just want so much better for them than tacky costumes and poor music choices. They're an exquisite team, they deserve to look happy skating something they relate properly with. S/H's programs mean something to them and it shows; T/M need that too.

Agree. She has so much positive energy and was one of the first to jump to her feet when Mirai landed the axel.

Transitions are part of the choreography. Anyway, agree to disagree.

When I told my husband that Christopher Dean choreographed Savchenko/Massot's program. He's like "That explains it! It's like an ice dance program with throws and jumps!" He was really, really impressed. As I said, he doesn't watch much pairs, so the fact that program grabbed him really says something. I've said nothing.

For the record, I like Sui/Han too and their SP at Worlds 2016 is one of the highlights of watching live and I would have not been surprised if the math worked out in their favor. I don't think there was an active effort ot calculate or maniuplate, I mean that would take way too much work, honestly, especially in reviewing elements in real time.

Honestly, I know a lot of people complained about their Music/Prog Rock FS from last season, but in hindsight, I actually think that proved to be a good program. I think Prog Rock is an interesting genre and it did help them win medals last season.

Also Tarasova is at tough cookie-e-who can forget her medaling after getting stiches in the SP?! They'll be back.

Sorry but are these shades classier or inferior to the shades of Pemberley? :laugh2: Sorry couldn't help it :slink:

I love it! ;)
But it hurts that some people here think that there are people THERE that hate certain figure skaters and cheer when they dont do their best?????
If there are those here that hate, the moderators should take care of them. I am trying to think of a comp where there are haters applauding and cheering the failure of certain skaters?????
This really isnt like English Soccer matches.......
I am not an Ashley Wagner fan, but I certainly would not applaud her failures.....
It is one thing to critizise someone's skating technique....it is quite another to say "I HATE the person Ashley Wagner!"
I LIKE T/M. But the scoring in this comp was fair in reguards to the result.

I wonder what lays ahead for T/M. It is for certain that S/K are continuing and definitely leaving Mozer camp after the Worlds. Mozer is also fell out of favour with RusFed and will lose most of her state funding after this year. Will T/M bail? If so, where are both S/K and T/M will go?

My goodness, that's a shock, considering she produced champions. V/T won OGM, W, E, GPF. S/K medaled most places and won GPF & OG team gold. T/M didn't do well here but they also won GPF and E, have W bronze, OG team silver. That's hardly a reason for the feds to pull the plug!

As for other coaches, perhaps Moskvina's camp in St. Petersburg can do something. I hear Yuko & Sasha are coaches there now, with Artur Dmitriev they could continue the Moskvina school. Or would Plushy take on pairs?

This is out-there but since D/R are retiring, I wonder if perhaps they could hire Bruno Marcotte et. al.? I could see Meagan bringing them all healthy vegan cuisine and taking care of their diets, and taking them to yoga class for off-ice training (as well as helping them with their figure skating math). And hey if the North Koreans train with them, why not the Russians from time to time?

I think Sui/Han should also have a gold medal! Remember Salé/Pelletier... Sui/Han deserve it more.

wow. I think there is noone who deserves it more than Aljona. The judges did their best to give to S/H. But there was just one minor mistake too much from them today.

One thing I learned in all my years here is that there are ALWAYS people that disagree with the judging and the results. ALWAYS. Stay calm and enjoy. This medal cannot be taken away from Aljona/Bruno and this performance will stay for eternity.

A perfect, flawless, beautiful LP is worth more than a perfect, flawless, beautiful SP.

in vancouver it wasn't. in vancouver a perfect, flawless, beautiful sp won and a perfect, flawless, beautiful lp got silver even though it SHOULD have been enough for gold.

*grumpy*
