I wouldn't have her close to Alena on PCS though...

I think they'll or may give her more than Alena. Judges seem slightly more eager to reward that outgoing & extrovert skating more. I've seen Trusova skating in more commanding & secure way already though like at JGPF for example ... I also noticed some sloppy-ish moments and lacking nuance. Both girls have slightly different strengths, and are distinct. I'd give edge to Alena in all components though today.

That having said I do find Trusova's speed & ice coverage very impressive for her age, as well as her cantilever.

Well, she got lower PCS. Better edge on Lutz, better jump quality and more difficult content... Placement seems fine to me. To me, people really overexaggerate Trusova's issues with PCS categories - The transitions are still very good and her basic skating is still quite good. I also think she's improved her artistry some. Not as good as Kostornaia of course but she did score less than her... Juniors have this soft cap thing with PCS so the gaps aren't going to be very large.

I will never understand why they couldn't just have substituted some other big band music for this song... it's even weirder since she looks so young.

There is another junior doing a routine to music from Sweet Charity- Lim Eun-soo. If you listen to it you can hear a relation to Big Spender.

The point is in motions there, not in holding the lines, because holding the lines is sometimes holding the speed, which means not enough ice coverage for level 4 StSq... just wanted to explain that..

That's a tight race! I agree with Trusova outscoring on the TES and Kostornaia winning on PCS, though.

Yes, but the PCS should not be that close. Trusova should ahead in TES but the gap artistically is far greater than the .5 points the judges decided on. Alena should be ahead of Trusova by 3/4 points in PCS. (at least)

I really don't know how you can give Alena Kostornaia 30.09 for components and give Alexandra Trusova 29.54. The all-aroundness of the two programs aren't even comparable

Well, Trusova's Lutz had the same air time as her 4T does ... not bad. Extreme outside edge also. Very soft toe pick which is a weakness of mine, really love it. Love her Flip for the same reason.

IMO, Kostornaia is the better skater, but Trusova's my personal favourite.

I'm not sure I find Trusova's jump quality to be better than Kostornaia. Both are excellent - though Trusova obviously has higher BV. Kostornaia has better spins.

I'm just frustrated seeing little to no differentiation between Kostornaia's level of expression, nuance, and the finishing in her movements compared to Trusova. Trusova is a cute little daredevil, but there's no depth or nuance.

Why did Kihira move her axel? Choreographically it was much better where it was. It's only 0.33 points to move it to the second half. Why make your program worse for 0.33 points? I guess that could be decisive but I doubt it.
