I think he wanted on the record book of hopefully landing 6 quads in an event at world, because next year, the men only have 7 jump pass and it will make it very hard to do 6 quads then...

Prediction: We will see a +1Lo+4S before the 2022 Olympics and it will be hideous to look at.

Because the TES was higher. Yuzuru had 123, Nathan 128. Obviously Nathan didn't have the same PCS as Yuzuru, and got scored quite generously.

I think it says a lot Nathan had two quads more but only 5 points more in TES.

And he was already overscored on GOE... He is the epitome of quantity, not quality

Watch him go for a 4Lz-4T combo or something crazy like that :p

WR for largest margin between 1st and 2nd? 47 pts
Yeah, Hanyu's WR for LP is 220ish

223 from WC2017. Nathan almost edged out Yuzu's GPF2015 record of 219.48 but missed it by .02

Nathan has the largest point margin in a championship event.

No??!!! What?! Wang and Liu are breaking up?????

Rumor has it that S/Z are pressuring them to break up because of some internal politics. Yan Han and W/L's tweets have been... quite disgruntled to say the least

Many of the people who were a great at the olympics were a hot mess here, especially among the younger skaters. Osmond was the only one who wasn't and she is older. Skaters who had something to prove from the olympics did well - like Chen, ice dancers, as well as the Wabasha who was not chosen for the japanese olympics team.

The young kids can't handle both worlds and olympics back to back - Zagitova as well as Zhou are perfect examples of that. Chinese skater as well though I don't think he's that young. AZ and VZ are teenagers. It's too much.

I would add the German pairs did great as well - but AS and BM are in their 30s and she's a rock competitor. For many of the skaters especially the younger ones it's just too long a season and why men and pairs turned out ok, that women's result was odd.

Wait, so this skate nearly beat Seimei? The legendary Seimei?

I know scores accros different competitions can't be compared but this one is still recent and I can't believe Nathan got such PCS. Some GOE might be generous as well but blame the judges after the splats we got.

If Chen went just a bit cleaner today and got +1 GOE on his two quads with bobbles, he would've narrowly beaten Hanyu's WR FS score. That's staggering (and I'll put out the prediction that next season, he will have the WR FS).

Crazy to think that Chen need six clean quads with 4 lz and 4F to beat Hanyu 4 quads programs. And Hanyu didn't even get any +3. They have almost the same TES.

It's not Shoma's fault when others splat. Yes, this was a bad skate from Shoma. But you know what he did? He kept his very hard layout when he knew he wouldn't be able to do it. He fell on the opening Quads. And he fell again. And then? He hit his quad and his 3A sequence and his last 3-3 combi. Fact is, he didn't fall apart after the worst start he had, well perhaps in years. And that made the difference. He is so strong, I only can look on in awe.

I wasn't making fun of him. He's the silver prince this year. I know he kept his layout and props to him. Although some skaters receive much less praise when they keep their layout while being injured but that's for another discussion.

omg, I am just waking up and reading Boyang had 6 falls, how? 6 falls?
My theory, he is a gentleman, and he wanted that ladies did not feel so bad, so he did it even worse :slink: :sad21:

Yeah, that's nuts. A jumping clinic is a jumping clinic.

Nathan Chen must have worked really hard after the Olympics, he may have even improved his free program quite a lot?

If so, I hope they smash their personal best in the free dance today! No wonder they looked so determined yesterday in the SD.

Actually I prefer his costumes to the weird stuff other men are wearing. I think his subtly reflect the content of his programs. And I'm not in reference to the programs being "boring" or empty. The simple costumes keep my eye on the skating.
