Medvedeva leaving Eteri

Orser simultaneously makes sense and doesn't make sense.

For the backing, the packaging, leaving Russia after the split, perfect. And he does great work, has coached two OGMs, etc.

OTOH, I'm not sure if he can pull a miracle with her? Javi's jumps were bad, and while Orser turned him into what he is, they were never truly fixed. He did package him and polish him perfectly, and there's also Tracy Wilson for the SS there. Will she still be backed as heavily by the RusFed for this to help?

I'm in favour of this. Just have to see how it works out. Medvedeva does seem to have the will-power.

...because of believing in her ( as a skater/potential). I don't. Wish to be wrong. I am more than sure, Orser will prove me to be wrong .

He said he takes every opportunity to do master classes abroad because they help him earn money, he's not that rich to afford a foc student. He's not Mishin after all and there are different conditions who pays for what in Canada and Russia. Let's be fair.

Is it really such a stretch to believe in a 2-time world champion and olympic silver medalist? That's just common sense.

I respect this. She senses that she's gone as far as she could in Eteri's group and is willing to turn her life upside down to seek a stepwise change.

Her and Orser personally doesn’t seem a good fit to me. Just because someone is a good coach, it doesn’t mean they work for every skater. She needs a technician the most. But good luck to her either way.

Idk, I think Orser comes off as a pretty easy personality to work with, and Evgenia is a hard enough worker (it seems to me) that she doesn't need a stereotypically "tough" coach to push her. Now that she's an adult, it might be more difficult to train under a more controlling and strict coach, which we know Eteri is.

Personality-wise, Evgenia reminds me a lot of Yuzu, actually (and I'm not a weirdo shipper or anything, I swear - but she's a hard worker with a lot of confidence and she is able to have fun and deal with her mistakes and setbacks in a very mature and healthy way).

I'm very optimistic about this change. I think it's the best thing to stop her skating from going into decline, and to give herself a break from the tiny quadsters who are all snapping at her heels. While that sort of training environment is obviously motivating, it's probably not very fun once you're the "old lady" of the rink.

BOrser is going to fix her Flutz, that's for sure. Not as sure about choreography, DWilson is a big hit or big miss for me.

I think this is wise of Zhenya. I think Orser has a technique that works well with women. I think Eteri’s technique favors young girls. She’s extending her longevity with this decision. New eyes are always good too. I can’t wait to see her packaged differently. All the best!

Not surprised by coaching change. I figured she or Zagitova would change. Rare to see a coach successful in navigating having two top dogs, particularly in ladies skating. I have not been the biggest fan of her skating but she seems like a sweet young lady. Good luck to her

Weiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrd. Really. But good luck to her.
Now i don't have faith for Wakaba anymore. She will surely still in Japan.

Orser truly is selfless taking her. All my respect to him as a coach.

LMAO he's taking on a 2 time World champion, 2 time European champion + European Silver medalist, OG silver medalist, 2 time GP final champion... It's not like he's doing charity. She's going to be the most successful skater at his rink after Yuzuru and by far the most successful lady.

I wonder if all her bonding with Gabby in Korea was done already knowing they'll train together!

Oh Shae-Lynn for Zhenya !! That would be amazing !

(I wish in the future Alina, in order to keep her jumps, technique and everything, will expand too. If this means leaving Eteri/Russia, so it be...)

It is not about pulling miracles. It is about having a longer healthier skating competitive career. Many fans who have discussed this news for a few days already on Russian forums have mentioned that for Eteri Evghenia would be a safe variant to support possible flaws from Alina and to motivate the younger ladies who will join Seniors in a season. It is a very sad position to find yourself in. I think it is a risky but smart move to find a coach who can give her a boost when she's not a teenager anymore, when she needs a different approach to trainings and a more mature choreographer to create a new image that will develop her artistry, skating skills, presentation, etc, etc.

This is the only thing that is sad about this case, I hope she can despite everything be one of the best, but I'm glad that Evgenia has this spot

That is true, and is exactly why I'm in favour. I have NEVER liked Eteri's methods. NEVER. It's sad she's considered a famous or even a good coach, just because she gets results. NO.

Why? Do you thing the federation would be against this rivalry in TCC? It didn't stop Yuzu from winning two OGM...

Well i guess that she didn't want to leave a threat to go train with another threat everyday. And maybe it will be hard for Orser though he had Yuzu and Javier.
Remind me when Orser said that he will never train Mao. Even if the situation was different.

The thing is- as long as her teenage ladies bring great medals... I wouldn't say nobody cares but very few would question the methods. But... if the new ISU changes would give preference to ladies over 17- who knows how the podium landscape changes. I just hate, I really do hate when girls have to retire being 18-ish. It is not normal.
