I thought the performance/program is definitely worth its own thread!

I haven't seen such an exciting program in a long time, Stephane Lambiel proves yet again that he's just SO talented! I'm so glad that he's back and competing at Worlds!

Is he going to do this in Tokyo? He will win.

Total flow, total musiclity, total character. Despite the few booboos, I watched it twice. He has some Iberian blood running through him.

He will surpass Evan's Carmen pasa doble. Oda will fade, Takahashi may come up to him with a 3A, but if Stephane still has the quads, not even Joubert can perform like that. But does he still have the quad and quad combo??? He will need them.

btw. Who was the pro flamenco dancer?? They looked great together.

Joe

He seemed doing more jumps in a show number than some others can do in competition:laugh: But it is the between jumps that makes him so special. Just love him:clap:

Definitely! I believe he is ready. He was ready the minute he decided he will go to Tokyo. He will be gold!

Wow! That was beautiful.

Just out of interest - that was a rotated quad at the start wasn't it? I've watched is several times and think it is.

Yes, exactly. Lambiel doesn't even really try to do a Triple Axle anymore. Without solid Quads (he turned his second one into a Triple in that performance) he will NOT overtake Joubert, Lysacek, or Takahasi.

Love the program, though. It could definitely be one of my 3 favorites of the year, along with what Weir and Buttle are doing.

Wow! That was beuatiful.

Is this definitely going to be his SP? The piece is currently too long for an SP so it would need re-working.

I would think that he was practicing his LP during the show. It has 7 jumps passes and straight line foot work and spins for COP so definitely a good LP for competition. I was wondering why he did so many jumps for a show and realized that this was pretty much a warm-up for the real thing. He might have this all planned out, using the show rather than competitions as practice for the World. When he could skate that well in a busy show schedule then I would think that there shouldn't be any problem for him to put things together before the World. Now it's getting interesting. It would be such a pity that he leave the competition so early in his career.

that was a rotated quad. If he could rotate and almost land the quad in this kind of show lighting, I believe he's still got it. Here's hoping he'll get the 3A back soon! If he skates cleanly to this program including 2 quads, I doubt anyone could beat it.

Emotion, Music, expressive... that was very nice. Fits him too, for he doesn't strike me as ever being all that "smiley" of a performer. Glad to see it and looking forward to seeing him continue competing.

Maybe you'll change your mind after you have seen this performance, where he just looked so happy throughout the entire skate. One of my favourite performances from Lambiel, and another one of those CoP programs before CoP even came along.
Ah, didn't mean to digress :p

Upon seeing this new LP, I was incredibly impressed. "Poeta" is a powerful, artistic program with the jumps and spins, everything! If Stephane can skate clean at Worlds, he and Joubert are going to be fighting for the top spot.

I love Stephane is back for this competition! :D

cool music. I love flamenco programs, so much drama and tension. I would love to see him skate competibly to somthig like this.

on another thoughth, Lambiel really looks like a gypsy or somthing there... he would make a WONDERFUL Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights no? sexy!

That was in Washington, DC. I was there and I was told to pay attention to Lambiel who I remembered from Euros as exceptional. Unfortunately, the LP did not go over to well and he dropped to 4th.

One thing about Lambiel, his routines are all about footwork - not just about a wide 3 turn, bracket, or mohawk into a jump. He's a skater's skater.

Heathcliff - cool. I meant to say that I love the shadow of a mustache! He looks so 1930s-Clark Gable-sexy!

Love his outfit and the choreography. Drags just a bit in places, but overall, really great! I'd luuuuuv to see him on the top step at Worlds...

He is great! Can't decide which one I want for gold medal, Lambiel or Brian?

gold medal at worlds you mean??? hasn't he withdrawn. I belive he is just doing shows until further notice.
buth that was a VERY difficult program just for exebitions. two planned quads? lot of of triples. IS he really going to worlds?
