WOW, that was amazing. Buttle and Lambiel - the two comebacks of this season - may prove to be the biggest threats for the podium at Tokyo.

Total flow, total musiclity, total character. Despite the few booboos, I watched it twice. He has some Iberian blood running through him.

Joe - I agree with you, the dude must have some Gypsy blood in him; I thought this was a masterful performance. Its great to see a skater displaying mastery of jumps in being able to time the landings to the exact beat of the music. I always appreciated Todd Eldrige's ability to control his jumps that way - its shows such care and mastery of the ice and ultimately respect for the music.

Also, Stephan's look is for me spot on; I'm also glad he didn't try to do exact flamenco steps on the ice; you know, that fake steppy-steppy thing skaters of lesser talent do to approximate dancing on the ice.

I totally respect Joubert's jumping ability - it is formidable - but Lambiel's performance here is on a different level creatively; plus the guy CAN jump - the 3loop was especially nice.

Is Lambiel going to World's? If he is, and can keep his combinations together - watch out everybody!

That was in Washington, DC. I was there and I was told to pay attention to Lambiel who I remembered from Euros as exceptional. Unfortunately, the LP did not go over to well and he dropped to 4th.

One thing about Lambiel, his routines are all about footwork - not just about a wide 3 turn, bracket, or mohawk into a jump. He's a skater's skater.

Joe, actually he placed 10th overall at Worlds 2003. Many thought he should have definitely placed above Goebel in the qualifying which would have made him 2nd in his group.
But I agree, he's a skater's skater. IMO there's no one out there today that has the same kind of running edges (Takahashi is great and I love his basic skating, but he does look like he's working hard). He is someone who I'd call "floats across the ice" and it is especially evident in his step sequences - so little pushes, but so much flow.

Excellent critique, Tenorguy. It is his musicality that wins over most fans. However, it is a sport and in the Men's Division, it means clean jumps at the highest level. Everything else is secondary. If all the elite men skate their best, it will be quite an event.

Beauteous- the program as well as Stephane, who my grandmother has been trying to get me to marry for quite some time now. (The gap between MI and Switzerland has come between us, though) .

Those last 30 seconds-ish with that beautiful footwork sequence and the killer spin are the best thing since sliced bread.

I adore S/Z but I think German S/S might give them some tough competition - so pairs may be exciting too!

Anyway, S/Z are always exciting. To be so ON at this point in their career - it's a mountaintop experience.

It was a pretty good program. He looks in better shape than I thought he would be; he can definitely challenge for a spot on the podium provided he works hard over the next couple of weeks.

If Lambiel lands all his jumps the title is his. IMO the only mens program (of those I've seen) that comes close to this one is Jeff Buttle's "Ararat."

I've missed both men this season and am glad they have returned in time for worlds.

Awesome programme and great choice of music!!! It is always such a pleasure to watch a skater who really can feel the music... Unfortunately there are not that many of those skaters who have this side combined with great technical ability.
