Rika Kihira

Good luck to our darling Rika in a couple of days! Fingers crossed for TWO clean programs and THREE triple axels!!!!!!!! :dbana:

Practice notes (courtesy of Rocker Skating)
Kihira: 3Lo, 3F3T(fall), 3F3T, 2A, 3A, 3A, 3F3T, 3Lz, runthru (3A, 3F3T, 3Lz(step)), 3Lz(step), 3Lz2T2Lo, 3Lz, 3Lz2T2Lo, 3F3T, 2A, 1A, 3A

3A: attempted 7 times, landed 4 times, popped 3 times
3F-3T: attempted 5 times, landed 4 times, fell 1 time
3Lz: attempted 4 times, landed 2 times, stepout 2 times
3Lz-2T-2Lo: attempted 2 times, landed 2 times
3Lo: attempted 1 time, landed 1 time (lol)

Good to see no falls on axels. I hope the fall on the flip combination was due to a lack of warming up.

Edit: afternoon practice notes
Kihira: 3Lo, 3F, 3Lz(fall), 3Lz2T2Lo, 3F3T, 2A, 1A, 2A, 3A, 0A(step), 3A(ftdwn), runthru (3A2T, 1A, 1Lo(2ft), 2Lz, 3F, marked Lz, 3S3T), 3Lz3T, 3A, 3Lz2T2Lo, 3F, 3Lz3T, 3A, 3A, 3Lo(fall), 3Lo

3A: attempted 11 times, landed 5 times, foot down 1 time, popped 5 times, 45%
3Lz: attempted 2 times, popped 1 time, fell 1 time, 0%
3Lz-3T: attempted 2 times, landed 2 times, 100%
3Lz-2T-2Lo: attempted 2 times, landed 2 times, 100%
3F: attempted 3 times, landed 3 times, 100%
3F-3T: attempted 1 time, landed, 100%
3Lo: attempted 4 times, landed 2 times, two-footed + pop 1 time, fall 1 time, 50%
3S-3T: attempted 1 time, landed, 100% (LOL)

The positive is that every 3A attempt after her run through was landed, and I think she was finding her footing. The only jump she missed after her run through was her loop. She only actually missed one 3A that she went for, although she wasn't confident enough for any 3A-3Ts yet today. Perhaps we'll see them tomorrow or on Thursday.

More practice notes and numbers from Rocker Skating.

Kihira: 2A, 3Lz(step), 3Lz, 2A, 2A, 3A, 1A, 1A, 3A2T, 3F3T, 3F3T, 1A, 1A, 3A, 3A, 3A, 3Lz, 3Lz, 3F3T, 3A, runthru (3A, 3F3T(ur), 3Lz), 3Lz3T, 1A, 3A, 3A3T, 3Lz2T2Lo

3A-combo: attempted 2 times, landed 2 times, 100%
3A: attempted 15 times, landed 7 times, popped 8 times, 47%
3Lz: attempted 5 times, landed 4 times, step out 1 time, 80%
3Lz-combo: attempted 2 times, landed 2 times, 100%
3F-3T: attempted 4 times, landed 3 times, UR 1 time, 75%

If we assume most of those pops are just warmups, this isn't a bad practice at all, although I hope she doesn't pop the actual 3A, as she hasn't fallen on it today so far. Everything else is fine, just minor slips on the flip and lutz.

Edit: more practice notes
Kihira: 2A, 3F, 3Lz, 3Lz, 3Lz2T2Lo, 2A(step), 1A, 3A, runthru (3A3T, 3A, 3Lo, 3Lz3T, 3F, 2Lz2T2Lo, 3S(ur,fall)), 3S3T, 3Lz2T2Lo, 3S, 3A, 3A3T, 3A, 3F3T, 3F3T, 3Lz3T, 3A, 3Lz, 3Lz, 3F3T, 3Lz3T, 3A, 3F, 3Lz2T2Lo, 2A

3A-3T: attempted 2 times, landed 2 times, 100%
3A: attempted 10 times, landed 6 times, popped 4 times, 60% :agree2:
3Lz-3T: attempted 2 times, landed 2 times, 100%
3Lz-2T-2Lo: attempted 4 times, landed 3 times, popped 1 time, 75%
3Lz: attempted 4 times, landed 4 times, 100%
3F-3T: attempted 3 times, landed 3 times, 100%
3F: attempted 3 times, landed 3 times, 100%
3Lo: attempted 1 time, landed 1 time, 100% :palmf:
3S-3T: attempted 1 time, landed 1 time, 100% :scratch2:
3S: attempted 2 times, landed 1 time, fell 1 time, 50%

So, her least consistent jump this practice from data is.....her 3S. Didn't see that coming, did you? In all honesty, I'm not even concerned about that jump, even though it's her last one.

3A consistency is coming along very nicely. Just the one fall, no mistakes on Lo, Lz, F, everything is looking good. If she lands the 3A tomorrow night, she pretty much wins worlds.

Maybe Rika will NOT give us a heart attack this time and nails her short as magically as in GPF? A girl can dream... :scard8:

But in all seriousness, she has real potential to make history here. Land your jumps, get level 4s on errything, score 240+!!!

A clean rika with perfect performances in both programs I think I go with 245 points overall, 83 in the short and 162 in the free, please rika do your best! Its the final step in this season, you can win this and be the 2019 world champion I believe in you, you are already proud yourself your country and your fans worldwilde but I know you want to do your best in the most important event of figure skating because you are a warrior and I know you will impress us with your beautiful programs, enjoy this competition!

Rika needs to turn those popped 3A into a 2A, somehow, some way. An off-axis stepped-out 2A is worth more than zero points.

Well, Rika done Rika'd... she's 11.18 points behind Alina, which... for her, isn't a death sentence but she will have to 100% nail everything and the others make some mistakes. Don't want to throw a tantrum being like BOOOO winning all your other international comps wasn't good enough!!! or something juvenile... I just hope she can skate the program she wants in a couple of days

Rikkkaaaaa <///3
i'm so stressed out right now

But knowing Rika, she will fight in the free skate.
Good luck, bb! <3

Everything else being equal, Rika's extra 3As in the free should give her about 8 points technically over Alina. If Alina falls once, or pops a jump, Rika can skate perfectly cleanly to win. Now, we've seen Alina skate cleanly in the short and bomb this season before, so it's not impossible. However, Rika needs everything.

A psychological advantage Rika has is in not being in the last group. If she skates cleanly, she can put an imposing score to beat on the board. Suppose she requires the other skaters to score 150-155 to win. That extra pressure might help out. It won't be easy, however.

ah I'm so stressed. If anyone can overcome an 11+ point deficit, it's Rika, going to be tough though. I hope she will be able to give it her all in the free
