FFKKR appealed to ISU over inconsistency in judging at the GP stages

with all this talk about "how judging at Rostelecom cup is going to reflect these statements", i've to say so far judging was right and mostly in line with previous events.

(I complained about Samarin but he was overscored in components in France too)

If you count his scores, he actually got like 6 points less than in France, which just amounts to his score in France with deductions for his failed flip: -5 points for the fall on the flip, -1 a deduction for his fall.
so 98-6=92.

There was a home boost IMO, at least there was in men and ladies but no more than there was at Skate America.

Trusova had generous scores, she's sick, replaced her loop combo with 3T and barely made it around but she also showed very commendable improvements in her performance level too. I almost expected that 3T to be called
Sasha is not all about the jumps as her SP demonstrated.

It doesn't matter if there were things not called either, Zhenya and Sasha did not make serious errors. They were both very much heads and shoulders above the rest.
Mariah fell
Satoko had a rough skate with a very bad pop and no 3-3
Stanislava fell and only did 3-2

Not sure about that.

Here they were willing to give SB to the skater who skated clean .

There were a bunch of skaters at Skate America who got lower scores than usual because they really wanted to give that 1-2 medals especially in the Men's event, and the result was indeed controversial (we'll see in Russia, the event is not done yet)

Plus there was the awkwardness with the computer which made it all shadier than maybe it really was: not showing the tech box in realtime, the huge delays in the KnC,...

I haven't analyzed Trusova's Lutz, ever, but I think the understanding among GS members is that she is the one with the cleanest edge. It looked fine in the SP.

Other than Trusova, here we have Medvedeva, who has a bad Lz edge so an edge call shouldn't be a surprise, and Konstantinova. I don't know much about her Lutz, but I know she's not a medal or even a top 6 contender, and as such I don't think there will be too much debate about her calls. So Lz calls at this particular competition are likely not to be problematic.

Ice dance scores? :laugh2:

Ice Dance has always been so political, even more than the other categories because it's more open to interpretation which makes it for me less interesting to watch as competition.

That's also an argument against weighting more PCS.

The same technical issues that actually reduced Bradie Tennels score but many people refuse to accept because she beat Liza?

Sasha had overly generous PCS here, and her 3T was very tight, a stricter panel might have nailed her with a UR but I'm fine with it.
Mostly because she is visibly improving in performance and all her skills each competition and she's also got the flu! She is so strong!

Zhenya skated clean, I'm so happy right now nothing else matters. If someone else wants to pick apart her scores then let them, I do not care lol

The rest were lacklustre and made too many clear errors.

This was not the trickiest of ladies SPs for the judges or tech panel to score

Yes, that’s a very articulate way to interpret the emoji I used. Ice dance is more of a “we  ya’ll, now, let’s consider all other factors...”

Zhenya wisely doesn't have a Lutz in her SP, we will see what happens in the FS.
Sasha has a decent edge, her combo was very tight on landing though.

My issue was only with the Men's event: Jason Brown beating Aliev despite no quads, and big mistakes like a 1a in the short, the most important jump of his short program (which mind you only has 3 jumping elements by rules). In general that was a messy event too, in theory easy to judge as you say.

In Ladies you can always raise the argument about Liza's lack of artistry and that's a fair point, i mean if you want to give her a 5 in transitions in the free, it wouldn't be as shocking. That program was empty.

While here in the short, if they really wanted to downplay Satoko's score here as users suggested in this forum, she gave it more than a chance to do so and if you look at the protocols, they didn't. Judges gave her +3, +4 for the elements that were well executed and in general high components. She'd have probably been 3rd with a clean skate and still has a shot, which could be enough to qualify for GPF.

Satoko has fantastic steps, spins, SS and PCS in general. But with those errors she will still have a hard time making the podium, especially if nailed for URs in the FS

Yet and still, though, so far it looks like the ISU got the memo. (Well, they slipped in a ! on Kanstantinova's flip just to keep in practice -- NHK is comig up soon.)

Satoko is not a well rounded skater though, she has very poor jumps

Very poor jumpers are not capable of posting TSS of 200+ in a competition, let alone for 2 years straight (which she has done). Satoko is not winning any jumping awards but it's not like she can't rotate/land anything. And her jump content/scores aren't the best in the field but they're better than most, which is how she's able to place top 3 more often than not.

Which have either never been dinged or not dinged enough.

Comments like that make me wonder exactly how long you have been watching skating:confused: Satoko gets away with calls here and there (like all of them do:sarcasm:) but the tech callers hit her with UR calls all the time. She got 2 calls in the SP and 3 calls in the FS? How is that never being dinged?

I've been watching since 1989 with only minor breaks
Not too long ago Satoko's URs were getting ignored and sometimes some of them are still overlooked. That's really all I said

Well, the home cooking and dodgy scoring in the mens SP in COR showed exactly what the Russian federation considers 'fair' and 'consistent'. :laugh2: I'm now belatedly astonished Kolyada didn't win last year after all...

It'll be interesting to see how the FS goes.

For once it seems most of the drama in with mens not ladies.

Ladies was fairly quiet, a bit generous to Zhenya and Sasha but it hardly mattered, it is like both of them were in a different competition from the rest, and in a way they are. Battle of the Russian Queens.

Thank heavens Jason was scored fairly and took silver at SA. He got the PCS he deserved for that SP and he got dinged for the pop in the TES. He’s one of the very few who will get close to the PCS merited by a program without needing the ridiculous “quad PCS bonus”.

More skaters without quads should get the PCS they deserve and more skaters with quads should not get the quad PCS bonus.

Now *that’s* a proposal for fair scoring that I could support:yes:
