There is an archive, although it consists mostly of news programs and a show called "Alexei Bagin, St. Petersburg Detective" - I'd rather watch "Alexei Mishin - St. Petersburg figure skating coach" :ROFLMAO: .
I will try to record the show from the live stream, but I'm positive that clips of Plushy's performances will eventually also show up on youtube. He is still the Russian king of figure skating after all and well-loved by his fans.

Hello fellow Plushy fans!

Well as the weekend draws to a close Plushy continues his trip down memory lane:

https://www.instagram.com/tv/CLjBB5cKztE - The infamous Tango Amore from the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

Anyway the important thing to note is that this is, for some reason, my most favourite costume. Like I even wrote about in my LiveJournal about it. :laugh2: The only thing more amusing is that I seemed to be under the impression I was the first person to call Plushy... Plushy.

In other news I totally lost track of time and as a result I have to get to bed right now!

There are some other links I wanted to share, but they'll have to wait until tomorrow.

In the meantime let us celebrate the only Platinum medal ever awarded. ;)

Until next time!

Hello fellow Plushy fans!

As promised I return to post links.

I have to say though with the Russian Cup Final coming up, I'm sort of torn...I want Liza Tuk to go to Worlds so badly, but it'll be a huge disappointment for Aliona and Team Angels (plus you know, possible backlash). At the same time I'm annoyed at the thought that unless Liza Tuk wins by a big margin, Aliona will probably get the spot. Grumbles.

But here's the links I mentioned last night!

Coachshenko content!

https://www.instagram.com/tv/CLi7XMcKBzY - Working with Sasha P on his jumps. At the fact they still have those Viking cutouts with the coaches heads on them in the back there.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CLg2Ew3DBpU - At off-ice training - this is actually an ad for whatever that drink is, but I love how in the pause screen one of the lights in the studio looks like a halo over Plushy's head...how apt! :laugh2:

Yana and Little Arseniy

https://www.instagram.com/p/CLgzDpCFk5k - The theme is blue velvet. :)

Yana's breakfast:

Alas not many links, but it's early Monday in Russia.

Until next time!

Hello guys!

How Evgeni Plushenko is raising a new generation of figure skating champions on his own skating rink on Rublyovka

The great champion Evgeni Plushenko now coaches figure skating stars himself. Forges gold without leaving his home on Rublevka. He built his own skating rink there and told Albert Galeev why the carrot method is closer to him than the Russian national stick method.

Even in the dead for sporting events in 2020, Evgeni Plushenko managed to become a newsmaker. At the end of spring, two stars at once, two bright stories of Russian figure skating - Alexandra Trusova and Alena Kostornaya - fell out of Eteri Tutberidze's nest and became Plushenko's Angels, and they took coach Sergei Rozanov with them, who taught them record jumping. When the speechlessness returned to the bots on Instagram, it was discovered that the prodigy Veronika Zhilina was no longer #teamtutberidze either. Then the two Sochi 2014 winners Elena Ilinykh and Yulia Lipnitskaya came to put programs to Plushenko, who has been a coach for only three years, and only became a coach of the national team in June (one of sixty-four).

In direct proportion to the increase in the number of big names on square meters of ice at the Plushchenko Academy, the amount of dirt on square meters of the Internet grew. The white and fluffy sport has suddenly become the equivalent of Russian football. Plushenko found out about himself that he is a reseller, a hypozhorn, and after not the most cheerful starts of his wards at the competitions that survived the Rospotrebnadzor's reprisals - that he is also a bum. Tutberidze, as it suddenly turned out, has a factory and an inhuman culture. By the end of the year, the battles of the supporters of the two teams had become a separate genre of white noise and brightened up our covid life in the intervals between Artyom Dzyuba's video and the broadcasts from the courtroom over Roman Shirokov. People with the analytical abilities of the political scientist Nightingale even decided: Plushenko and Tutberidze specifically conspired to arrange this whole clickbait, in order to increase the ratings of viewing figure skating, and where the ratings, there, as you know, are advertising. And then the most titled Russian figure skater opened his own skating rink.
What is your own ice rink? This means that you can not pay anyone for rent, train when and how you want, and, which is important, hand over ice to some hockey players at night. For any coach, a personal platform is an application to become Irina Aleksandrovna Viner. Plushenko has a skating rink right at home, on the First Uspenskoe highway, with all the ensuing consequences. Now the champion and his wife Yana Rudkovskaya lead me through their five and a half hectares, half of which is turning into a communal apartment before our eyes. Here is the hut of the most virtuoso figure skater of our time, the queen of the quadruples Sasha Trusova and her mother, trimmed with a croaker: three bedrooms, a pond with ducks. Across the lawn is the cottage of the reigning European champion, world record holder in total points Alena Kostornaya (she has a pond with carps), finished with gray clinker bricks. Farther away is a two-story house for another twenty people less titled, but no less dear to the master's coaching heart. For the athletes, Plushenko and Rudkovskaya are now completing a separate bathhouse and even though they don’t bring them their signature breakfasts in bed.

I wonder if it is comfortable to take and let good, but still strangers, into my territory. No, of course, the whole country, like Pavlov's dog, developed a reflex to write, seeing Yana's pancakes with hydrangeas: "Plates from Ermes are very beautiful." But then Instagram, there you can stop feeding breakfast, and here there is already a whole construction and installation department number one. “Well, this is such an experiment, you know,” smiles Evgeny. - But we have a large territory. Athletes live in one side, we live in the other. Yana and I were in quarantine and we came up with it all. We bought plots from sixteen neighbors. Many had houses, we demolished them, some decided to reconstruct. It was necessary to give our girls the opportunity not to dangle, not go anywhere, not get stuck in traffic jams. So that they can walk from the rink to the house in thirty seconds, can recover longer, relax. There is no such thing that they come to us without knocking, without asking. The guys from St. Petersburg, who also live with us, come to me. They swim in the pool, sometimes we bathe together, our girls sometimes prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner for them. That is, train, work, show results, and you will be looked after. "

Plushenko is silent about how much this Cambridge has already cost. But she says that, for example, her own power plant was built: the ice needs to be frozen, and everything else on the rink needs to be heated. A whole staff of cleaners and driveway cleaners were hired. And the neighbors, of course, according to the Russian folk tradition, did not find the moral strength not to raise the price of land plots.

But the best, of course, is yet to come. “We are doing free training as part of initial training under the social program for children from large families living in the Moscow region,” says Evgeny. - They will study for free twice a week. A lot of children want to study, but, say, at Katok.ru in Gorki-2, an hour costs sixty thousand rubles. " “For the third year already, Zhenya has been working with a group of children with autism and Down syndrome,” adds Yana. - This is a project together with the Naked Heart Foundation of Natalia Vodianova. Nobody in the world works with special children-skaters on a permanent basis. "

It would seem that the fuel for this attraction of unprecedented generosity comes in smoothly. In pre-altruistic times, when Plushenko skated one hundred and twenty ice shows a year, he overtook Dziuba in income, and, which is now difficult to believe, Khabib Nurmagomedov. And now it's not that he lives on allowances for the honored master of sports and senior lieutenant of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Yana is one of the highest paid influencers in the country; according to Forbes, this is another half a million dollars for the family budget. Plus twelve million rubles, which the Dwarf Gnomech puts in the piggy bank every year. True, my mother says that her son's earnings are not thrown into the furnace of a steam locomotive called "Plushenko's Angels".

But figure skating turns out to be a black hole deeper than the third floor of TSUM. Take the same skater dresses. “The federation allocates sixty thousand rubles a year for an athlete's suit,” says Evgeny. - Sewing dresses for all programs with this money is impossible: you need two hundred - two hundred and fifty thousand. And if the suit is unsuccessful? In 2020, we sewed both Kostornaya and Trusova, not one, but three or four dresses. "

That is why Plushenko, who did not hover in the clouds even during the performance of the Olympic axels, seeks (and invariably finds) sponsors. Among the largest are the development giant LSR Andrei Molchanov and the distributor of food additives TFS Group. “Andrey Molchanov is our close friend,” says Evgeny. - He helps some athletes: he pays for training, choreographers we invite, inventory, travel, participation in competitions. TFS is Sergey Chernodedov, also our friend. I once invited him to see the school, the children. He looked and said: "Zhenya, I will transfer to your account." That is, these are our personal friends, businessmen, people who are engaged in such charity. Funding is needed: we are a private club, so we must pay for the travel of all coaches, all athletes to competitions. The Federation doesn't give us money,

Plushenko, in addition, pays bonuses to the Angels from his own pocket. “Not for everyone and not always, but for almost everyone. For prizes. Or someone made the first triple jump - I gave him five, ten, fifteen, thirty thousand rubles. " I notice aloud that this season the family budget is probably not too undermined: Plushenko's wards, even the best of the best, are, so to speak, harnessed. “A lot has worked out, a lot has failed,” Yevgeny comments. - There are reasons for this. We are working, we have set ourselves tasks, and now we need to implement them. The season was difficult, incomprehensible, but I immediately said that we are preparing for the future. We, as soldiers, must be ready for the World Championship, European Championship, Olympic Games. The Russian Championship is a responsible start, but not the most important one ”.
"Tatler" just decided to shoot the very future. Sofia Sarnovskaya has, according to the coach, chances of becoming a "big star". "She's already progressing, she can do almost all triple jumps, and she's only eight years old." The same age as Sonya Virsavia Kovaleva, who is simultaneously engaged in figure skating and ballet, “dreams of performing in Swan Lake both on ice and on the floor,” like Evgeny. Eleven-year-old Sofya Titova, junior champion of Russia in 2020: “She came to me two years ago with double jumps, took twenty-second place. Now he owns all triples, on the way - quads. " And of course, twelve-year-old Veronica Zhilina. For her, Plushenko from our pages, here and now, thanks Eteri Tutberidze: “For the first time in her career, Veronica made an axel in three and a half turns and a triple sheepskin coat.

I say that the world has completely gone mad. At twelve, girls shouldn't even know Juliet's monologue, but here's a triple toe loop. Plushenko agrees: “I made my first quadruple toe loop at fifteen, three and a half turns at thirteen. I trained only three times a week, there was one workout a day. The skates were shared with the boys: first one trains, then another, then the third. The shoes were so large that they had to wear woolen socks. Now everything is different, everything is there, a lot of training. And the children get hurt. This is a murder in reality. We need a measure. I don't chase them. There are coaches who need it today, tomorrow it's too late. It is not right. We need to prepare athletes for the future, for big starts and for longevity. So that they ride for a long time. Not a flash: some competitions won and disappeared, no one remembers them, they don’t know, what to do, where to run. In sports it is important to skate for a long time, but it is insanely difficult. I want the whole country, the whole world to know my athletes, to be remembered, to make a great contribution to figure skating. And so that everyone is individual. There are schools where they stamp the same thing: swing here, the leg went up there. For example, I have Sanya. Now he is seven, until he jumps two and a half turns. But I know that in two or three months it will jump. Every person, every athlete should have everything in due time. I rode with one athlete: he managed to learn three and a half turns in a week. And I taught for a year and a half. " And so that everyone is individual. There are schools where they stamp the same thing: swing here, the leg went up there. For example, I have Sanya. Now he is seven, until he jumps two and a half turns. But I know that in two or three months it will jump. Every person, every athlete should have everything in due time. And I taught for a year and a half. "

“I made a warning once, twice. In the third place, I fired all the coaches. ”

Those who pay for the right to be an "Angel" give from thirty thousand rubles a month. “It can only become a business if you rent out the entire skating rink,” explains Evgeny. - And if you support the groups that we have, and pay salaries to the whole team, God forbid, go to zero. When I was shooting a skating rink, every year I had minus twelve million rubles. This is in the presence of one hundred and twenty children. Twenty-four million in two years I just threw away. But we understood that we needed to do this, although it was possible to disperse the majority, to leave one group. But I needed to see if I could. "

“Probably, this business will take off when there are three training arenas - it will be possible to hand over some ice,” adds Yana. - Earn on advertising contracts, like on a show. Now all the shows are blocked, we lost a lot of money. We invest everything that we have earned in our life. But Zhenya always dreamed that the current athletes had conditions that he did not have. He lived in a six-meter room with rats, mice, even during the Olympics he slept in the car. There were no conditions then. Now is a different time. They say "Plushenko became Plushenko, because he tore and threw" - this will not happen now. Talented children need help. Our friends from Moscow, Peter ask: "What to give you?" We say: “You don’t need anything, if you want to please us, help talented children”. So, for example, Lena Weinstein, decorator, for the third year it has supported one athlete. They send her a video of this boy because he is from another city. From a very average family. And he knows he has a fairy godmother. Olya and Anton Smirnov began to help the little girl Liza. She is very gifted, her dad taxis at night just to fulfill her dream of being a skater. Figure skating is not a cheap sport. I'm looking at Sasha. He is a very talented boy, but if he was born in a different family, it would be difficult for him to get out. With his talent, he would lose to those who took the amount of ice. " just to fulfill her dream of being a skater. Figure skating is not a cheap sport. I'm looking at Sasha. He is a very talented boy, but if he was born in a different family, it would be difficult for him to get out. With his talent, he would lose to those who took the amount of ice. He is a very talented boy, but if he was born in a different family, it would be difficult for him to get out. With his talent, he would lose to those who took the amount of ice. "
Fairy decorators are, of course, good, but is it really possible that in figure skating as a whole, the national sport number two after rhythmic gymnastics, there are no people more firmly on their feet? As, say, Alisher Usmanov is a former fencer himself, he has sponsored the corresponding federation for many years. Or Suleiman Kerimov, benefactor of the Wrestling Federation. Surely there is at least someone on the Forbes list who, in childhood, did not take his eyes off Irina Rodnina in Lake Placid, or maybe even sharpened the Zhiguli blades? “Someone, maybe, did, but, apparently, didn’t do it,” smiles Evgeny. “But even more sponsors of the federation at this stage need good managers, agents who will find these sponsors. Recently, there was a stage of the Russian Cup in Kazan, Sasha Trusova won there. We missed the train and had to stay. But Sasha skated great, and I rented a presidential suite for her and my mother at the hotel. Because she deserved to rest in a normal room. And after a while I meet one of the leaders of figure skating. He asks me: “Well, why are you doing all this for her ?! Why are you spoiling them? " Well, the time is different, not Soviet. Will she skate worse because of this? On the contrary: she saw the attitude towards herself. "

Plushenko himself also remembers a good attitude. As a talented boy from Volgograd, he came to Petersburg in 1993. Alone, without parents, with a coach. “They rented a two-room apartment for us: the coach lived in one room, and the girl Tanya and I, who came with us, lived in the other,” recalls Evgeny. - It took an hour and a half to get to the rink, but everything was great. And then Mishin took me to him. Tanya went home, my coach also left. And I was left alone. Mishin settled me in his apartment, which he gave for students. There were three Spaniards, two Koreans, three Englishmen and me. And there were also two rooms. There I learned to speak a little Spanish - my neighbor Miguel and I are still friends, we have a birthday on the same day, he is now the head of one of the roller skating schools in Spain. Then my mother came, looked at me,

Tatyana Vasilievna moved to her son in St. Petersburg, dad Viktor Borisovich stayed in Volgograd, "worked three jobs to feed us." “My mother and I rented a room in a communal apartment with five neighbors. The room was very small: there was a sofa and one folding bed, there was a small table, one chair and a wardrobe too small. There was a man behind the wall who got drunk every day. And the wall between our rooms was made of cardboard. And so he constantly pushed her to us. But it was convenient to live there: it was literally five minutes to the Yubileiny Sports Palace ”.

The rats were in the next apartment. “We crawled out in the evenings: we lived on the second floor. Giant creatures, horror! Dad came to us, looked and said: "I'll put you mousetraps now." Well, the truth is, there was no way to pick us up then. Dad did his best. Parents, by the way, almost sold everything in Volgograd. Then it was possible to sell an apartment, a garage and a dacha there and buy a room in a communal apartment with this money in St. Petersburg. I was twelve years old, but I said: “Never do this. If I fail, where will we live and what will we do? So at least we will return to Volgograd. " It was a hard time. Mom and I collected bottles. She was very shy about it, I said: "Mom, wait, I'm running away myself now." We went to training or from training and collected the bottles. "

But he had his Alexei Nikolaevich. “When I arrived, Mishin had six athletes,” Plushenko says. - Urmanov, who won the Olympic Games at that time. Tataurov, who was fifth at the Olympics. Yagudin was there. Six adults already. If Mishin takes time during training, makes one, two, maximum three comments, it was happiness. I skated, looked at him and thought: "Well, Alexey Nikolaevich, well, look, I'm trying so hard." I dreamed that he would prompt me to start working with me. And he left for the competition and said: "I'll come in a week, you have to do this, this and this." And I understood that I had to do it. Now I have two or three coaches in each group - a fantastic luxury. And then Mishin came and said: "Well done, done." I was already fourteen years old we already went to the junior world championship with him, when he began to devote time to me. Now I think this approach is very correct. Earn the coach's attention with your work, your dedication to the training process. But Mishin has never been tough or aggressive. I could look, and everything became immediately clear. He never raised his hands, did not humiliate, did not insult. Many schools have this. When coaches come to me, I immediately tell them: "I will not allow insults, humiliation of children in my school." There was such a story when I rented an ice rink. The trainers beat the children. I saw it all, once I made a warning, then the second. On the third, they were all fired in FIG. You can do whatever you want with your children, but not at my school. Many resisted - they say, you need to motivate them somehow. I say: "You motivate with a word, with a look." when he started making time for me. Now I think this approach is very correct. Earn the attention of the coach with your work, dedication to the training process.

Personally, he started working as a coach because of his son. “We gave him to figure skating, I needed to be with him, and I decided to try,” says Evgeny. - At first it was hard: I worked with everyone, and the school grew very quickly, there were eighty children in six months. I was insanely exhausted: I came home, and I didn't care about anyone or anything. This was my first mistake. And I started changing the system. He divided the students into groups, appointed coaches, but did not start a group for himself. This was the second mistake. Many guys said: "Since you will not coach, we will go to other schools." I made two of my groups, started to train, and several athletes from other schools approached me. I said, "No problem, I have the opportunity, I give you ice." This caused some kind of panic, anger that I poached the athletes, that I bought them. And I never did this business at all. I just once said that the time will come, I will have a skating rink and good athletes will train, I have finances and conditions for this. "

“He stirred this swamp,” Yana comments. - With his arrival it became interesting. Before that, only the same girls of the same coach had won. And now Alexei Nikolaevich Mishin got involved in the struggle. Figure skating has become different, more shocking. Everyone discusses what kind of skater's costume is, who won there. We have builders on a skating rink from Chechnya and Ossetia, when I pass by, they ask: “Has Kostornaya recovered? Will she go to the Russian Championship? " Now figure skating is in the top. This happened, of course, thanks to Alina Zagitova, Evgenia Medvedeva, thanks to Yulia Lipnitskaya and Adelina Sotnikova. But now people are also watching the opposition of the coaches. Like twenty years ago, when there were Alexei Yagudin and Evgeny Plushenko and there was the camp of Tatiana Tarasova and the camp of Alexei Mishin. If the ratings of figure skating TV channels are higher, than football ratings, advertising contracts and generally everything related to figure skating will rise in price. And this is very important for the future of athletes. Our task is so that when they leave the sport, they do not disappear, so that they develop. So that they stay in the family. "

The wife-producer dreams that in a few years "Plushenko's Angels" will become the strongest private figure skating club in the world. The altruistic husband wants to lift his favorite sport in his homeland from his knees. “Three years ago, when I started, I fired fifteen coaches in seven months,” recalls Evgeny. - They came and thought: "We will now earn here without working." There are good trainers, but they are few. We need to train coaches. ”

"Angels" will also begin their circulation from Rublevka to the people, Plushenko is already negotiating with the governor of the Tver region. In the Oryol region he has already been, "there are two excellent skating rinks, and one coach trains."

"Sasha is a talented boy, but if he was born in a different family, it would be difficult for him to get out."

In May Plushenko and Rudkovskaya will open a new skating rink within the Moscow Ring Road, on Vostryakovskoye Highway. “There will be two full-fledged venues, large halls, and choreography and physical training. There is a park nearby, the guys will train there, run crosses. There will be a school - hockey, not "Angels Plushenko". At home, he wants to assemble a hockey team from among the dads of his charges ("Sasha Trusova's dad, for example, plays very well"). And he even completed the site for his beloved airsoft, with which he cheats even on a saint - Dior dinners in Ioann's House of Receptions. But both the clubs and the guns are gathering dust in the closets. “I wake up in the morning and go to workout. In the evening I come home and go to bed. I don't go anywhere, I don't want any events. No forces. I imagine that all this will turn into a routine, and sometimes I am even afraid. "
Well, at least to the "cordon", does he break out? To your hermitage, your wonderful island in the middle of the Karelian taiga, your oasis in the middle of the desert, scorched by Yana's energy, glorified in last year's reality show "YanaSuper". But Plushenko was not in paradise for six months. There is still his dad on the farm, but this is not for long: “I sell the cordon: no longer run over. I decided to buy a closer place for hunting, fishing, in the Tver region. And I'm taking my dad here, he will help me, babysit my grandchildren. I miss my past life. I was free, I did what I wanted. He performed on a show, made money, could buy a ticket, take a family and fly to the Maldives. Doesn't owe anyone anything. But now no, now - a big farm, children ”.

with very good pictures except Plushy

Hello fellow Plushy fans!

I hope you're all well.

Today the Russian Cup Final begins. I'm nervous and I won't even be able to watch the Ladies competition! It's probably for the best as I'm super torn...I want Liza Tuk to make the World's team so much, but I'm also worried that the backlash if Aliona doesn't make it will be huge and could really effect the Academy. You can bet the Russian Figure Skating Fed won't be happy that their top lady - who was (is?) the World Number 1 can't make the grade anymore, like can you imagine? Could Plushy's other skaters end up being punished for his "failings"? That would suck, but I could see the Russian Figure Skating Fed doing that kind of thing though.

And ugh, I just remembered Yagudin will probably be commentating the Final, oh Hell no.

*Slaps own hand* Stop catastrophising me!

Also there's links to share!

Hello fellow Plushy fans.

I woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep so I thought I better watch Liza Tuk and Aliona at the Cup Final to see how things stand.

I'm very nervous now, Liza looked strong (but I want Spartacus!), but Aliona, oh dear...

I don't know what to think...she has a new SP too, with a new costume...as I watched I thought...are they trying to make her look more like Kamila? Was that Lakernik's advice? I actually hope so because it's terrible and I hate to think Plushy came up with the idea...

Suffice to say it invites comparison and with Kamila on fire, a bad one. The YouTube video of Aliona's SP has almost as many thumbs down as up, which I didn't really notice at first. But surely this is the only time it's happened for Aliona...

Then of course there was Aliona being so upset after her skate, she was in tears. I don't think I've ever seen her upset after a skate ever!

Now regarding Plushy...I was talking with someone on Insta worrying about possible backlash if Aliona doesn't do well, who said that Plushy doesn't seem the least bit invested in Aliona and probably won't care too much.

To be honest this is probably true, as we all know, Aliona going to the Academy was totally unexpected, but it's not as if Plushy could have turned her down, well technically he could, but can you imagine? Refusing to take on Aliona, the top lady in the world?!

However, I'm super concerned that Plushy...kind of let his lack of investment show. And by kind of...I mean totally did. You can't do that! People are going to be p*ssed, people are going to wonder what's wrong with him, to prefer Sasha T over Aliona (I also prefer Sasha T, but as I've learnt my taste is wildly different from the norm) and more importantly for his career and for the Academy, perspective skaters and their parents will see it and not want to go because the Head Coach plays favourites so obviously. :(

I'm not game to look into the Russian Ladies Thread...

But fellow Plushy fans, did Plushy make a big mistake here? Should he have refused to take Aliona on? I mean, yes, the backlash and criticism would have been enormous, but it would have died away I'm sure...

Aliona may not have made the Olympic team anyway with the rise of Kamila, but to never make World's at all under Plushy's watch? It's going to be a black mark against his name forever, at least with those who don't like him (and those are many), I can see them still bringing it up in ten years time when the topic of great skaters come up...

"Remember Aliona K?"

"The most beautiful skater in the world? The one with the almost perfect season and the magical skating who in her second senior season decided for some dumb reason to leave the most brilliant and perfect coaching team? The one who never made World's and her new coach Plushenko didn't give a rat's ass? Sure do...I've always hated Plushenko, that career-destroying, money-hungry fraud."

It's the sort of thing that can sink a coaching career for good :(

IMO, it's a misconception that Plushy isn't invested in Aliona. His apparent lack of reaction to her skate for me comes down to two things:
1) Remember that he was coached by the Professor, who used to sit in the K&C stone faced, whether Plushy had a complete meltdown (ok, that almost never happened) or the skate of his life. It's only a recent development that Mishin shows some emotion in the K&C. I think Plushy might be imitating Mishin's behaviour, be it subconsciously or on purpose, because that's how he learned to do it. Anyway, the real coaching happens behind the scenes, not in the K&C.
2) Like many men, I think Plushy might have a hard time watching girls/women cry and showing the appropriate response in public. You could also see it after Sasha's meltdown at Rostelecom. Doesn't mean that he doesn't console the girls backstage.

This is all getting blown out of proportion once again. Aliona is in bad form due to various circumstances, and Plushy isn't a magician. He is doing everything he can for her. I also strongly suspect that her programs were changed on the advice of Lakernik, and while it will probably not be enough for worlds this year anymore, she will have two federation approved vehicles going into the Olympic season and plenty of time to polish the programs and even get back her 3A.

1) Remember that he was coached by the Professor, who used to sit in the K&C stone faced, whether Plushy had a complete meltdown (ok, that almost never happened) or the skate of his life.
Hmmm I'm not sure if this isn't a misconception in and of itself. Mishin was always stone-faced at the boards (even at the 2004 Russian Nats FS!), but I always found him quite engaged in the KnC, sometimes he even played with the plushie toys! And he liked to egg the crowd on to keep cheering.

And when Sasha was upset at Rostelecom Plushy looked uncomfortable, but tried to engage - remember how he offered Sasha an ice cream? :) But with Aliona not only did he sit further away from her, he folded his arms and leaned back like "Ho hum."

I mean I wasn't expecting him to give Aliona a big hug and hand her tissues, but like, it just looked bad. Even I, who as we know often defends Plushy, thought to myself "Man, he doesn't even want to be here."

I'm uncomfortably reminded of when someone on here, after I accused Eteri of being disingenuous when she was comforting Zhenya Med at the Olympics (Why is she acting surprised? She must have known Alina would win, she gave both girls their programs! She knew the base values!) asking what I would say if Plushy was faced with the same thing, Aliona and Sasha in the same competition and only one could win. Obviously this isn't the same, but... well no-one can pretend that if the Russian Figure Skating Fed came up to Plushy tomorrow and said "You can send Aliona to the Olympics or Sasha" he wouldn't send Sasha without needing to think about it. And while I think that would be the right choice, even if Aliona got her 3A back, I'm a fan and I'm allowed to play favourites.

And even though Plushy isn't responsible for Aliona's bad luck this year (although...he could have told his skaters they couldn't go to the banquet because of the Corona virus and it was against the ISU's rules for holding the event), I rather selfishly wish she hadn't had it once she came on the Academy. Because the human brain likes to make links, create a narrative...and the narrative my brain is making is Aliona left Eteri and went to the Academy and now she can't compete with the top girls anymore. :(

ETA: Speaking of dumb brain narratives, I'm also feeling guilty because in Liza's fan fest I speculated that the only way Liza could get to Worlds is if Aliona skated poorly and ended up more than 5 points behind... Which she did. And while objectively I know it has nothing to do with me, I feel bad that I even thought it.

The more I consider this, the more annoyed I get...like I've always accused the Russian Figure Skating Fed of being biased and mean, but I didn't think they were idiots.

So Lakernik - this man with massive influence and power rocks up to the Academy rink to see how Aliona's new FS is coming along and perhaps they show him the idea for next season's SP. And Lakernik, in all his wisdom, says he likes that one way more or even worse suggests they get a new SP because in his opinion the current one sucks too.

So what else are Team Plushy meant to do? They've been giving their orders, two new programs for Aliona...with the Cup Final and the possibile World's spot barely a month away.

So not only does Aliona, who's stamina is an issue since COVID, have to learn a new a new FS, but a new SP too?!

Did Lakernik actually believe that was possible? He was a skater himself wasn't he? Surely he isn't that much of an idiot? But if he's not then he basically sabotaged Aliona! He gave her and Team Plushy an impossible goal. And now it's all gone wrong and what's everyone saying?

"How stupid are Plushenko and Rozanov?! Expecting Aliona to be able to do this?! They're the worst coaches in the world. They've destroyed Aliona's career and ruined her legacy. And Plushenko doesn't even give a sh**, Aliona deserves better than that. What an actual piece of scum."

And worst of all, even if they tried to explain themselves, Lakernik would probably play dumb. "What? I never told them to change the SP now." Maybe not in so many words but his meaning was clear.

Look at the comments for this trainwreck of an interview the Olympic Channel put up

I could even read past the first two...but a skim read is enough.

It's a disaster. 😭

You do have a point, Plushy looked kind of withdrawn from the whole situation. I might be the opposite from you in that I always try to see everything in the most positive light, so I'll just say that he gives Rozanov as Aliona's main coach some space and does not want to interfere. I'm sure there will be a team meeting behind the scenes.
On the other hand, Plushy and Aliona just might not be a good fit personality wise when it comes to a fruitful coach-student relationship. That actually happens quite often, not all people work well together in professional sports, hence there usually is a trial period of a few months before a coach takes on a student. Aliona's coaching change was quite rushed and I guess we will never know all of her motives, but this is also an experience for her that will help her grow as a person and as an athlete in the long run.
This whole situation should not reflect negatively upon Plushy, IMO. Just look how many "failed" students Tarasova, Mishin, and even Moskvina have, and still they are considered some of the greatest coaches ever. Plushy is doing everything he can, providing all the amenities a skater could wish for. It is not his fault if it doesn't work out for Aliona. As I said, a magician he is not.
As for the sudden change of both programs, I still can't imagine that it was Plushy's idea. It is madness at this point in Aliona's season, and surely he knows that.

I can't sleep (which sucks because I had a super vivid dream and so much happened in it I was sure with I woke up it was like at least 6am, but nope 3am.)

Plushy is doing everything he can, providing all the amenities a skater could wish for. It is not his fault if it doesn't work out for Aliona. As I said, a magician he is not.
I know, but I feel like 95% of the board doesn't. I honesty can't imagine being in Plushy's shoes, he's literally not allowed to make a single mistake. Because if he does the pitchforks come out.

And often he doesn't even need to make a mistake for it to happen! Like the new Academy buildings and facilities. They're world-class, but people STILL find reasons to nitpick them "Oh, they're too far away from Moscow." "Oh, a truly talented coach wouldn't need these." "Oh, he's just doing it for show, PR is all he can do."

This is nothing new though, Plushy has never been allowed to be anything less than perfect. People praise athletes for going out and trying their best, like Aliona today or for attempting difficult layouts like Kamila. But did Plushy? Hell no! From figure skating fans to commentators perfection was demanded, all the time, in everything. That NBC 2006 Torino commentary haunts me...here was the best skater in the world, doing the MOST difficult (at the time) program in the world and how did they react? With sneering derision that Plushy didn't make it harder! That he didn't "have a program". It's breathtaking, utterly breathtaking in it's disrespect.

People wonder why Plushy wasn't over the moon when he got the gold, I can tell them why, because it was so damn expected no-one even thinks how difficult it was.

Imagine being in that position? Of knowing if you don't get gold, if you don't crush your competition you're nothing as far as the commentators are concerned. That the smallest weakness you have - like not being able to get low enough in a sit spin - outweighs your jumping and performance skills.

Every time Plushy paused in a program, every.single.goddamn.time he so much as took a breath the North American commentators would pile on! You'd think no other skater took a pause ever! Now I haven't watched every skater in the world, but I can tell you they did. But did Dick and co start squawking about it? Nope.

I don't know why these long ago events upset me, but they do.

As for the sudden change of both programs, I still can't imagine that it was Plushy's idea. It is madness at this point in Aliona's season, and surely he knows that.
Yes, but I didn't see a single person on the competition thread make that suggestion? See the connection between Lakernik's visit and the program changes.

Nope, it was a dumbass idea so obviously Plushy made it. He's full of dumbass ideas.

😞

Hello fellow Plushy fans!

Right *pulls up socks* I have not been posting very good fan stuff lately. In fact it's been decidedly un-fanlike. I wish to remedy that.

Coachshenko content:

https://youtu.be/iFRTMGDvI4U - I've been looking all over for this! Coachshenko and Aliona before the SP. This is not the behaviour of a coach who doesn't care less (part of me wants to link this in the Russian Ladies Thread, but I cannot, it leads me to poor outcomes :p)

https://youtu.be/6mwxcT7oh-8 - With Kirill Sarnovsky after the SP - poor Kirill popped his 3A so he currently lies in 10th. Coachshenko also gave Kirill a big hug when he came off the ice. (Hmpf! It seems the uncaring coach label is slipping....)

https://youtu.be/R7yOZQn33nk - Training with the Angels 🥰

Sasha P Shenanigans:

https://www.instagram.com/p/CLzRVMDooYH - On the pole off the ice!

Yana stuff

https://www.instagram.com/p/CL4i3z1l0l6 - New purse, new you.

OK, I'm actually at work so I better wrap this up!

Good luck to Kirill and Veronika Z in the FS's today!

Until next time.

anonymoose, you are so into Plushy that I can only pray that Trusova would be crowned champion on her first Worlds trip. If she made it, you and everyone else here would be on top of the world, so that all the worthless gossip will definitely be laughed off with a triumphant air.

Before she took to the ice for the FS at the Finals, Plushy's gentle & caring look at Kostornaya simply melted my heart. Oh my, he looked so good as a coach! :love2:

Lastly, I want to congratulate his mentor on securing 3 spots on the Worlds team, which is a very special and meaningful gift for his 80th birthday!Still, Semenenko's jumping technique looks so weird and all his hard landings are so painful to watch... :ROFLMAO:

Hello fellow Plushy fans.

Well, Hell.

It looks like Aliona is leaving the Academy, and there's rumours Sergei R is going to as well...Elena I has also left (maybe not entirely? :( But close enough...)

The Olympic Interview Plushy and Sasha P gave has reached the Russian Ladies Thread and it's all over Instagram. 😱

This is just awful 😞

I was already feeling down after discovering the top-liked comment on an article about the Junior ladies at the Russian Cup Final was a reply to someone's question about what happened to Veronika Z with "She's at Plushenko's Academy unfortunately".

My mood was not improved at the realisation that most the figure skating fans I follow on Instagram think Plushy is a joke. Like I appreciate they don't hate his guts, but it's still depressing to have constantly read "Whyyy did they give Aliona a new SP to do?!" As if Lakernik coming wasn't huge news?

I stand by a comment I made before...no-one should be happier about Plushy being a coach than Eteri. Hardly anyone speaks against her now, she can do anything she likes! Who cares if she picks on a kid for not smiling all through a program, Plushy is standing at the boards with his arms crossed and chewing gum!

I can't believe that Olympic Channel interview...my second hand embarrassment is off the scale. I know Sasha P is just a little kid, but...imagine if Aliona gets her 3A back (whether it's at Crystal or somewhere else), I can imagine people bringing that up... especially if Aliona makes the Olympic Team over Sasha Trusova. "Who's your hero, now, Sasha Plushenko?"

Although I suppose people won't blame Sasha P, they blame Plushy ("He must have made it obviously who his favourite is! What an ass!")

Now, I know I'm a catastrophiser par excellence (too bad it's not an Olympic sport I'd have about 10 gold medals now), but this all adds up doesn't it? No smoke without fire? The Academy is getting a reputation...of disorganisation, of people leaving. Perhaps the detractors are right... Who cares how good the facilities are when coaches come and go like it's a revolving door and results go down, fair or not (let's be honest Sasha T's results so far haven't got better :( She's got better, but not her results).

This is such a mess. Why oh why did you move so fast, Plushy? Why didn't you just concentrate on Kirill S and Sofia T? They can be amazing, they are amazing! It would have taken longer, but it would have been safer, it would have meant no "Plushenko takes ready made champions and rides on other coaches glory" narrative. Now it's too late.

The people I follow on Insta treat the whole thing very light-heartedly, like this is some sort of TV drama. I can't though, the Academy is Plushy's dream, he's put so much work, time and money into it. To see it become nothing but a punchline...it hurts.

And now I'm gonna be late to work...
