Johnny Weir has turned himself into a cartoon. I like his commentary for singles and pairs, but his commentary on dance is the equivalent of having a plumber doing brain surgery.H/B's RD makes me wish that they had stayed with Igor, or gone to Carol Lane, or anything else. But I'm so happy that they are loving this experience.
In other news, Weir does not think that ice dance is figure skating. Apparently, it is just cousin of real figure skating.
As long as the same "bad mood" is applied to all, it should be fine. The panel is not in good mood today. The score box often looks like "yellow brick road".
You do that, love. I'll toast to you when the moment comesi'm putting some rocks in my Martini
I don't know, the French commentators always make sure to emphasize figure skating and ice dance are two separate sports as well. So they're all getting this somewhere...What an interesting ( read incorrect) perspective. Figure skating is at heart about "figures" right? So, isn't ice dance closer than any other discipline to the original concept?
The funny thing is that he started by essentially saying that, before he made the dump cousin comment. He was saying that ice dance is focused on essential/base elements of figure skating (glide, performance) - or something sort of like that. I don't always pay full attention to the things Johnny says. What an interesting ( read incorrect) perspective. Figure skating is at heart about "figures" right? Tanith and Charlie are working with Greg Zuerlein. Bratti/Somerville are their first team for the school.Whaaat???? You just made my day. Did not know about either of these coaching developments.
The thing that gets me is that Tanith could be a pretty decent singles/pairs commentator. But no, it's Johnny we need everywhere, and Tara in 3/4 disciplines even though I just don't think she's that good at commentary itself.Johnny Weir has turned himself into a cartoon. Whoops dunno how that happened. You just gave me a deja vu ...
I really look forward to their future work.Tanith and Charlie are working with Greg Zuerlin. Bratti/Somerville are their first team for the school.
