Yes, they are supposed to have Winter Spartakiad this season. This may sound awfully selfish, but I am a little worried with all that's going on at the moment in the figure skating community that the sport might fall out of favour even in Russia. What if 1tv and other streaming services decide it's not worth it anymore to broadcast all the Cup events and little local competitions? I have grown to love these events so much especially since the start of the pandemic and honestly, if I had to decide between watching a CoR competition or an ISU championship, I'd go with the CoR. I've kind of adopted the Russian skaters, firstly because I was a fan of Plushy and the SPB figure skating school in the early 2000s and kept getting more interested in Russian figure skating from there on, and secondly because they have so much to offer in terms of different styles and qualities. There are so many lovely skaters at the CoR events, both in the senior and junior divisions, who may in all likelihood never make it out of Russia but are still a joy to watch. Hopefully this whole mess will not impact these skaters and we will still be able to cheer for them from all around the world! 💙
I am worried too, but iirc small competitions like Spartakiad were always streamed by small accounts, like Studio 38 and MainStream. If Russia stops showing their regionals it would suck, because yup, it’s the only way to see 80% of them, even men. I hope it would not happen, and the results of the current controversy are positive rather than negative, with an ever increasing attention to the athletes’ health and well-being. I mean, how many times we, in this very thread, gritted out teeth at bashing of Russian senior and junior men? I want to hope that things would change for the best, no matter who gets which PCS and who goes to which competition. Because they are in many ways on a similar level, they should use their depth to replace more often and allow recovery from injuries, without playing blame games. In my opinion…

Then, I guess, the the Fed will broadcast it as it was before.
Yeah, I know they used to upload stuff to youtube, but at least as I remember it there was seldom a live stream (granted, I was not part of any FS forums back then and often had trouble finding anything myself), and performances only appeared piecemeal days later and without K&C. Of course, I will take anything I can get, but the broadcast quality and availability of events was so good these past years, I guess I've grown greedy. And, tbh, a part of my cheering for the Russian lads also comes from the exposure their performances get on the internet. It is easy to "get to know" them and root for them, because nearly all of their competitions are broadcast (and they are in a convenient time zone for me ). Arrgh, I don't even know what I want to say here, I guess I'll always love the Russian figure skating the most and will cheer for it as long as I can watch it anywhere.

Kondratyuk is really doing god’s work here. 🤣 like, really, he is a natural PR material. Good job!
Mark's TikTok is a goldmine. But you know what I'd really like to have right now? A new episode of Skating Skills. That would lift my spirits. Preferably one with lots of amazing jumps where someone gets a stupid prize in the end and everyone is laughing about it. I'd also take Guess the baby skater, part 3.

They say they will have an exhibition skate by the Olympians called Lords of the Rings on the 8th of March in Moscow. Fingers crossed Mozalev is there, with, like, a new exhibition? Unless he is planning to live under a ROC till next season…

I think Skating Skills gang is mostly off-season thing, and some of them can be in Cup of Russia. Lol, we might run a game here on who the 12 Masked Skaters are….

Interesting, because this season's instalment of the Channel One Cup is scheduled from 5-7th March in Sochi and I guess they would like the Olympians there. Or maybe it will not be the same format as last year and "just" a regular competition?

Maybe just headliners from Moscow? Who knows.

Aww, I would love so much to see Mozalev and with skating something new and interesting, but I would understand if he doesn't.
