Senior Pairs Short Program

They just had a rough SP. Themi fell and she didnt land the throw. And as of now I think they are in 5th or 6th. Ugh

Im soo sad for Naomi & Themi :frown:

i really feel for naomi. The poor gilr can't get rid of that injury. Whoever advised her to skate pairs was wrong.... her hip will get more of a piunding landing throw loops than it would if she kept singles skating.

gotta give it mclaughlin and brubaker though.... they are having a great year!

Naomi rarely lands any throws...

E/L's program is always very very original... I truly enjoy their performance... Having said that, they really need to relearn the throw technique if they want to make a move at international stage. Every time, she is rarely straight up in the air, there's no way she can land those throws...

C/O look good, but I'm not too optimitimisic about their sbs jumps...

Here are the scores for the SP:

1)McLaughlin/Brubaker 66.54
2)Inoue/Baldwin 65.24
3)Castile/Okolski 58.95
4)Evora/Ladwig 57.10
5)Vise/Trent 53.97
6)Yankowskas/Coughlin 52.09
7)Katz/Lynch 50.62
8)Nam/Leftheris 48.51
9)Beriau/Merritt 47.09
10)Pflumm/Pottenger 46.73
11)Butler/Jacobsen 45.33
12)Lepzinski/Burgess 42.89
13)Moyle/Pottenger 38.03

Aww Kendra Moyle!! I was looking forward to a big splash. And Castile and Okolski are gonna have to fight to keep that Bronze-colored spot of theirs....I hope they can succeed. And Im VERY surprised Inoue/Baldwin are that clooose.

I too was surprised that I&B did so well (I'm not a fan). However, I do think the judges held them up. They almost matched M&B in technical content scores despite sbs 3s and triple twist vs. sbs 2x and double twist. I&B did have exceptional spins though. Also, pulling off a SP with little training is easier than a LP- that's where I&B could have problems.

Okay. I may take a beating for saying this--- but --- some of these pairs are not well matched. Either the ladies are big or the guys are little. I'm just saying!

Yay!
Evora/Ladwig are in a close fourth! I really love their long program, but I have only seen it on youtube. So, maybe NBC will show it since they have a shot at the podium.
Did anyone see their short? How did they do?

waxel I will take that beating with you, cause I felt the same thing as I watched it.

As for Inoue & Baldwin they did very well in the SP and I am NOT a fan of thiers. However it shouldnt have been as close as it was in scores, but they did do better than I expected.

Sorry Im not doing good with words now as I am still reeling from Naomi & Themi being in 8th:frown:

Evora & Ladwig did well, and you could hear the crowd hype up for them. I really like thier LP and hope they do well.

Is there a final listing of the top eight yet? It is killing me not to be able to see the results! I am on Eastern time and do have to be a work tomorrow early :-(

I know it is all but impossible to REALLY tell what NBC will be showing on Saturday, BUT am I right in supposing that they will be showing the top two groups, in other words, those skaters who place 1-8? Or will it be 1-7 (a 3 group and a 4 group). Any guesses? Might they chack a 1-7 placed team to show NNN/Th??

Well, In some cases, as in McLaugh/Brubaker, he is small but he is more built. And, I like having them closer in height, because it feels like its something new, compared to the years and years of hugely tall guys and 5 foot girls.

I reeeeeeeeeeeally hope NBC shows teams 1-8 so Naomi & Themi get shown, as Id hate to wish a chacking of someone but you never know. They may just show top 4 and show more of whatever else is shown with it. But they can always use Naomi's surgery as a fluff piece:p , but I say if it gives them coverage so be it:agree::laugh:

I&B probably got lots of +GOE on each of their element... They really have improved a lot which is a pleasant surprise. Their elements and choreography are really refreshing and polished and they used to be very mediocre.

Have they changed coach?

I understand that John Baldwin, Sr is one of their new coaches. I'm happy for them and can't wait to see their skating (always wished they'd change their look, choreography and musical selections--sounds like they got the message from somebody! :)

wow. I/B! I didn't expect them to do this well... They are in really good condition. The choreography is also much more interesting this year... Technical content is not there though... Good for them.

Don't you think the judges totally held them up with their low techical skills. I mean double axels and a split double twist? We see these moves in Novice Pairs. I 'd have them in 5th or 6th place. Baldwin SHOULD be able to a triple -toe -loop by now.

Under CoP, there is only 0.5 pts difference between a 2A and 3T... and I'm sure they got tons of +goe for that well executed 2A... This is their strategy, and I don't blame them...

The difference between a 2twist and 3twist is also not huge...

I read the Nats review on the front page, and it says I/B used their touring to improve their elements, so I'm with them getting good GOEs on their elements. It sounds like the really improved their programs. Can't wait to see them on Saturday. I really wish M/B were old enough for Worlds.

ETA Looking at the scores, M/B got a higher TES, but I/B got a higher PCS. I think the scores make sense considering I/B's maturity. I/B probably really improved their elements while touring too. Good for them. I really like I/B. Bummed about NN/L though. Did not expect them to be so low.
