2023 Four Continents Women's Free Skate

This has not been Maddies competition, hopefully she can redeem herself at worlds:console:
Oh Canada; Oh no. This does not look good for Canada. It is kind of the Jennifer Robinson era and that's not good. Maddie has had several bad skates - all her freeskates this year have been a struggle. I am not sure if iti s psychological but itmay be too late. Poor Canada. On other notes Lee was wonderful and the results here should encourage Korea. Now you can see the battle is on Japan, Korea and USA at w orlds with Belgium, Georgia (Eastern Europe) in the mix.

Yelim's Ina Bauer in the SP is such a sublime moment, the free not quite as spectacular but the potential is there
But one of the stunning moments in a stunning short program. Her Ina Bauer is a thing of beauty and she holds it and lets it curve with the music. The choreography sequences are meant to do something like this, to create a moment in the program, by putting a value on it for the skaters.

Again, Maddie was not the only Canadian at this event.

Just saw the results and i'm shocked.
What happened to Isabeau?
Haein must have laid out out a superb free to get that score. Congrats to her for the first big title for South Korea since too many years. Also congrats to Yelim and my baby Mone for their medals.

Sick

I found the footage of Isabeau backstage shown during the warmup of the 2nd to last group and would upload it if i could figure out how to do so from my ipad. Here’s a screenshot instead. I could tell she was in her costume and ready to go. Maybe it came on suddenly.

ETA: The replay is up on Peacock. You can see Isabeau at 2:01:25.

Damn, poor girl. At least it isn't an injury.
The rink announcement was "medical reasons". That's the wording they've used on all withdrawals. It could be illness, injury, or altitude.

The surprising thing was that they didn't make any announcement in the arena during the warm-up. There were just 5 skaters when there should have been 6. Either someone at USFS missed the boat on informing the organizers of the withdrawal or they still hoped at that point that she could skate. I think officially if there's no withdrawal they call the skater's name when it's their turn to skate and then wait a short, fixed period of time to see if they show up. If they don't, they are then withdrawn. Thank goodness they actually got an official withdrawal before her turn came.

I'm still here. That is what I saw and thought she didn't look well. She also had skipped practice to rest which made me think illness.

I believe (from the Tonya days) they set a timer on the board for 2 minutes for the skater to appear.
