Wow! This finished a LOT later than scheduled. The day was supposed to be finished 45 minutes before the final skater's scores came up! And that is even with 8 of the skaters due to skate today withdrawing!
Did something happen earlier in the day? Ice problems necessitating extra resurfacings? Or did the organisers just plain underestimate how long it would take to get through the eight competitions.
Well, at least the Advanced Novices aren't back until tomorrow afternoon. So, the late finish shouldn't have any impact on their preparations for the FS.
4/7 groups done. Canada in first and second, so far!! Go Canada
@CaroLiza_fan The girl from Cyprus did really well… in fourth place
Varvara ended up in 9th out of 49. But, I'm delighted, because she had a very quick turnaround after competing at the Black Sea Ice Cup in Bulgaria at the weekend. And although she was 2nd in both segments and overall, she had a disaster of a Free Skate on Sunday. So, I was worried that it might be praying on her mind.
True, her score today is a good bit lower than she got on Saturday (41.70 points), but it is only 0.81 points lower than her second highest SP score from the Sofia Trophy earlier in the season. And she is only 1 position and 0.39 points behind another skater that I rate, Alica LENGYELOVA (SVK).
Hope she has a good Free Skate tomorrow.
