2024 JGP Riga Cup Free Dance

Every program in this group has been crafted and constructed with conceptualization and thought, which is more than I can say about Chock and Bates' material for at least two seasons. That being said, the Japanese team captured my heart the most so far.
Respectfully I disagree strongly

10. Michelle DEYCH / Ryan HU 🇺🇸
Romeo and Juliet by A. Korzeniowski

OFTW1 +OFTM2
SyTwW3 + SyTwM3 (Ryan stumbles out of second set, but they have a really neat sit twizzle transition between the first and second sets)

MiStW1 + MiStM1
ChSt1 +1.19
ChSl1 +1.45

RD: 56.17 (6th)
FD: 65.68 (7th)
TOT: 121.85 (5th)

Sigh on the music choice, but at least they sold it well. Ryan in particular has gorgeous quality of movement, I thought he looked a little uncomfortable in the RD but he really shone here. The spark kind of went out after the lift fall, but I think this program could be amazing in the future (at least as good as a Romeo and Juliet can be), it's well-choreographed and takes advantage of their best qualities. Fortunately, they didn't hit their heads on the lift fall.

And now for anyone who was sick of originality and creative ideas, a Shpilband Romeo and Juliet program. Excuse me as I pour myself another Moet mimosa.
Sometimes I think the coaches roll their eyes inward, but give the skaters exactly what they asked for.

I know that a lot of times a warhorse comes up because the skater(s) wanted to skate to it, but I don't know, maybe some touch of originality would be nice? Like, you don't have to go techno R&J (like my darling's) but there have got to be ways to do R&J and be different from the gazillion others that have already done theirs

or maybe they really lack the imagination they'd need to make 10 different elite programas every year
or this, but sometimes the skaters say this is their dream program
who doesn't like a Marina Zueva program. Of course Marina had no hand in this one.
Either way, I was looking forward to seeing more of this team as they develop and I am both impressed by their look and depressed by the horrible fall

As someone who spent years fantasizing about Kevin Costner in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, seeing a young and attractive Canadian man skating to the soundtrack in a sleeveless black shirt is making me feel feelings.

I'm not sure why Bryan Adams is here, that choice seems seem a little disconnected, but I like the parts individually. This was a really strong skate for them, you can tell that they're a lot more experienced than some of the other teams here.

and that despite the fact that you're medicated. remarkable
