2024 Skate Canada Free Dance

I thought Lajoie/Lagha were better. First, I was distracted by his costume and kept giggling to myself. Then the giggles stopped once I recognized the song. Whiter Shade of Pale was my uncle’s favorite song. So I won’t be watching this program again. Not their fault.

Piper & Paul FD talk anything and talk nothing , music is ok but some choreography segment felt like waltz and it was ok. Is nice but I prefer more Marjorie & Zachary FD (in my personal opinion)

That was freakin. brilliant. From Piper and Paul. Brilliant! How was that so good? How did they incorporate Annie Lennox into a tango? An incredible, sublime tango! OMG, I loved it so much. I was not at all sure when I saw the music choice, but this is perfect. Best FD of the season by the top 3 by a mile for me.

Okay folks I missed a lot of skating this weekend and have one day to catch up - give me your recommendations as I have only seen Men FS & Free Dance at Skate Canada

Well, after loving Piper and Paul yesterday ... today I kept getting distracted by the hole in the back of his jacket. To be fair, I've never been a fan of the backless look for women either, but usually it seems more in harmony with the rest of the costume. This just looked wrong and took away from the skating which was smooth and beautiful.

This was very beautiful & effortless looking from Piper & Paul. I came in not knowing anything about their Free Dance, I gotta say the tango bit was surprising given how this began but it was well integrated into the routine

If you look, tango moves are prefaced in the first part of the program with the Annie Lennox. Check out Paul's leg kicks in the step sequences. It's subtle and amazing.

Oh wow Piper and Paul

It's a thoroughly well-choreographed program, I'm not 100% certain the music cuts are as smooth as they can be but each piece is choreographed so, so well... damn Carol Lane you spent all your energy on this and thus didn't have the brain juice for Nadiia and Peter...

The absolute quality aside I wasn't engrossed with it like with Vincent (but Vincent was... Vincent) or Both Sides Now or Wuthering Heights, but I think it has more to do with my tastes in music than the program itself. If they are to become World champions (please ) this is a terrific vehicle for it, it shows off so many of their strengths...

But Paul, we get that you want to win the most prestigious award in figure skating, but do consider giving it to Ro Yongmyong instead and getting a hole free shirt

Pairs is unpredictable and worth watching. I loved Spencer and Emily!

The music makes me think of Elladj Balde's fantastic skating.....

Sound of silence is way easier to skate to than Piper and Paul's music, because it builds up in a traditional way (which is of course great)
Piper and Paul were way more sophisticated.

I think that's the program they need to pass Lilah and Lewis this season.

They don't need to pass Lilah and Lewis. They have always placed above them at events such as Worlds. It is just Chock/Bates and Guignard/Fabbri they need to pass.

Congrats to Piper & Paul for winning Skate Canada! I feel a pity for Taschler siblings who landed just behind the podium but they definitely can be satisfied with their performances and seem to be improving.

The program is genius. His costume is hideous from the colour to the cut.

Compared to their RD this seems messy, I really don´t get this, but it´s not my cup of either, maybe it will grow one me as the season goes?

Funny, I found them slow AF in their RD and kind of messy. I thought it needed more run throughs. And Piper’s expressions were too much, she only had one expression with open mouth. I like their FD better, it’s well choreographed and hides their lack of speed while highlighting Paul’s edges. Paul’s costume is distracting though.
