2025 Quebec Sectionals (Junior and Senior) | Nov 7-10, 2024

They cut to the slow motion replay during Sandrine and lost the TES box when they came back.

Sandrine goes into first :hap10:

Sandrine is always upset with how she skates. She has such high expectations.
156.36 is now the second time she has surpassed 155. She is next in line, to be sent to an international junior event.

Wow!! Megane so close to winning!! 154.01

Very good junior event

Top 8 who should move on to Challenge, I'll have to verify if I have it right when the results go up:

1 - Sandrine Blais
2 - Megane Vallieres
3 - Laurence Gignac
4 - Eva Sicurella
5 - Stavrina Aranitis
6 - Selena Koster?
7 - Alice Roy
8 - Yaena Nam

I'm going to make a spreadsheet tomorrow to track Senior Women, it's easier doing it from the start 😅

Also, the cut off seemed to be only for top 7 here. Yaena was in tears that she missed out with 119 and the girl that skated and placed 7th here was so happy to finish 7th with a 120 score.

@saine So, I think Aleksa V. gets a bye to challenger for Juniors and not Seniors

I think the placements are correct. But, Yaena was crying tears of disappointment when she got her score and was in 2nd, at that time. So, she must have just missed out qualifing to Challenge.

Mely-Ann was close

Aleksa Volkova got a bye for Senior Women, Patinage Quebec listed her for it in their expected Challenge entries list. They also list 8 expected entries for Junior Women in Challenge - https://patinage.qc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/2024-2025_PQ_Bye_JR_SR-v18102024.pdf

Hmm!! 🤔
I just found it so strange that Yaena was crying when she was in 2nd with only six skaters to go. I was thinking to myself, you qualified, be happy. Maybe, she missed the minimum TES score 😵‍💫

I went back and checked her TES, she did score over the minimum in the summer at CQE so she should be able to go. I think she was hoping to do better and wanted a better score.

Okay. Time for NHK (free skates)
Will be here tmrw for Senior Ladies free skate.
I’m loving these domestic competitions.

Also, my prediction for Junior Ladies is that Lia, Sandrine, Ksenia sweep the podium at Nationals like they did at PreNovice, Novice.

Wow 😮
Our Juniors are very hard on themselves. At least she gets another chance at Challenge

Quattrochi/Desmarais - not as good a free as on the JGP (fall on the 3Sth, Simon fell on the 2Lz so no sequence), but better to get to have a messy free here than JGPF. 87.96 for the free, 134.37 total. So about what they scored in Gdansk.

Rolland/Lacasse - Noemie slid quite a bit on the fall for the 3STh 😳 Also a fall on the SBS 3S. TES looked close to Quattrochi/Desmarais when it ended, and they had more of a lead from the SP.

88.12 for the free, 139.13 for the win, I think they should get two JGP assignments next year Skate Canada.

These two have improved SO MUCH.
If they could get a better twist, they are trying already some triples and will get them

I was cut off from the stream but WOW at the Reverse Lasso lift. Etienne is such a great lifter.

But hé did have a bye to challenge right?
He does. It's supposed to be conditional upon competing at sectionals according to the Skate Canada rules for JGP assignments, but there've been a few skaters who haven't done that as per the rules. He should be fine to go if he's okay to compete.

Well, he showed up and competed ;) Does it say anywhere they have to do both the SP and LP ?
