2024-25 Russian Nationals Men's Short Program

Pairs turned out to be not quite on the level hoped for. Maybe Rinky is satisfied now and the men will not be overly stingy.

Ah. I didn't realise that there was a dinner break.

Well, in that case, I may as well do something productive. Like my Japanese Predictions.

Oh, hang on. Looks like there's an Opening Ceremony starting now. So, I'll stick around.

I’ll say one good thing about Russia - they’ve got the best national anthem in the world. Like Yagudin’s commentary I thought it would never finish, but the rousing melody of the anthem sung by a wonderful choir kept me enthralled throughout.

They really do.

That is what I always loved the Russian anthem - how rousing it is. Let's face it, there are quite a few national anthems that are so dreary.

Hey, look at where I'm from. We have "Danny Boy" as our anthem! :rolleye:

But, I have to be honest, I was a bit disappointed in the choir singing the Russian anthem today. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't that they were bad. But I have heard much better renditions of it.
