2025-26 Programs By Discipline

Looks like Ami Nakai will have to change her FS because of copyright reasons 😞
Yes, the original plan was skating to Cinderella (was she working with Wilson for the program? I think so). But due to copyright issue, she could not skate to it. Now she will get a new FS from Kenji Miyamoto. Hopefully this will not disrupt much her preparation for moving up to Sr.

Hyorin Lee KOR
FS: La La Land

Jihyo Kim KOR
FD: The Giving
I know solo dance isn’t huge yet so we probably don’t need to log the programs, but she just switched over and was a really promising junior that unfortunately couldn’t get her jumps right after injury :( she’s such a beautiful skater and worth the watch

Nothing on the exact pieces of music, but Chock/Bates are going to have a contemporary flamenco program for their FD.
Mmmm. Could be good, could be same old same old. I guess they are trying to go for some safe heat, as the Olympic season is not the time to experiment. I hope they will, at least, be more adventurous with their RD music choices.

Anything yet from Piper & Paul?

ETA: Antonio Najarro working with them bodes extremely well, so it may be a solid choice that they are both excited and comfortable with bringing to the ice in an interesting way.

I was just coming to post this link! You beat me to it.

This looks very intricate, and I am intrigued. I haven't seen anything like this from them previously. This will melt the ice in Milan if they embrace the sensuality. I bet she presents well beyond her spectacular standard.

Hi @TontoK, yeah this new Flamenco FD does look to be taking an interesting, different approach for C/B, despite the fact that it is a traditional latin dance. They have done generic, abstract, new and different with the edgy snake program, safe & contemporary, and now with this new Latin-inspired FD, they seem to be bringing back traditional ballroom, with a fresh, edgy flair. We'll see how it turns out.

FYI-- it was @ramurphy2005 who first linked the IG post by Najarro earlier in this thread. I think Madison has followed up with a post on her IG.

On further reflection, I think C/B are consummate pros, and they're so experienced and confident. I was not excited about their past season's programs. However, both programs were okay and improved over the course of the season. And truthfully, at the major comps, when it counted, C/B absolutely delivered. They have been the beneficiaries this quad of other top teams having retired, and I think the politics seems to be in their favor going into 2025-26 season. For sure, C/B's entire career and potential to rise was completely jump-started when they were accepted by IAM and given programs by Marie-France that brought out something unique that enhanced them. Since then, trying to find amazing material season-after-season has been an up-and-down adventure.

I am interested in seeing a real battle at the top in ice dance. I hope Piper/Paul bring something special to the ice, and I look forward to seeing what Laurence/ Cizeron and the Shibs can do in the Olympic season as well. Also, it would be great to see Tim/Olivia come with another dramatic, entertaining FD to secure their rise to the top. Of course, with the Olympics in Milan, Guignard/ Fabbri will be trying their best to make the podium. They are very good technically, but I think there are so many other more interesting and aesthetically talented teams than G/F.

My apologies for not crediting @ramurphy2005 for the original find. It was an unintentional oversight. Like you, I enjoy acknowledging the first person who shares something interesting.

I'm already looking forward to this program in a way I never did Take Five. Don't get me wrong - it was skated very well, and they deserved the WC, no question in my mind. But I didn't connect the same way I did with some other material they've delivered. Just not my cup of tea, but there weren't really ANY programs except Dune that really captured my attention last season. It was a blah year.

I totally agree with you that last year's ice dance programs were rather ho-hum, aside from some of the junior ice dance teams, Olivia/Tim's Dune, and perhaps Orihara/Pirinen's FD. Lajoie/ Lagha's Sound of Silence was well-skated but lacked excitement and spark. Some people really enjoy French team, Lopareva/ Brissaud's aesthetic. I am not that enamored, but they are good. In addition, U.S. teams had some fairly interesting, well-delivered programs, including Car/Pom's Carmen, Green/ Parson's Dance Me To the End of Love, and the Browns, IMO, had two good programs (RD to James Brown, and FD to The Who).

Also, I must say that former rising U.S. team, Flores/ Desyatov had an absolutely boffo, standing ovation worthy FD to Poor Things soundtrack, choreographed by Kaitlyn Weaver. Costumes, choreo, and performance rizz were absolutely star-making. That amazing FD was gonna build over the course of last season if they'd had a chance to perform it more than twice pre-season. IMO, F/D's Poor Things FD was inspired and right up there in quality with Smart/ Dieck's Dune program.
