2025 CS Cranberry Cup Senior Women Short Program

It’s cute as practice gear. But it’s kind of arrogant to other athletes not caring to wear a costume at a international competition where costume is a part of the whole package. It’s almost like she doesn’t consider it as a real competition. Costumes can be really uncomfortable to wear, and a lot would be more comfortable to compete in practice clothes instead, it could even give you a unfair advantage because you stay warm. IMO that should give a deduction just as costume malfunction. Other skaters have used old costumes waiting for the new ones, or borrowed from others when luggage get lost.
That is true a poor costume should be reflected in PCS, but Isabeau's costume wasn't poor it was simply non-existent. Although it was similar to her exhibition costume at World's. Still, for all intents and purposes it was a training uniform.

And I'm trying to work my gig still trying to scrape some pennies to buy tickets to Prague before they are sold out...
i am debating whether or not i should go to Canadian nationals... it implies minor traveling (3 hour bus ride)t a few days at the hotel which would be quite far away from the venue since they are using the hotel that is close to the venue for the skaters/coaches (well i guess it was because of that since it's been sold out forever) and then well tickets (not expensive I suppose, a few hundreds)... but yeah... it feels like too much trouble for now.... I don't mind the travel nor the hotel part.. but being far away from the rink in a place that is not transit or walking friendly is not optimal... Nationals this year are in a smaller town on the boarder of Ontario and Quebec... so it would almost make more sense to stay in Ottawa and trek there every day.. but yeah... so far... i haven't decided. Prague is at least a wonderful city .. Gatineau, not so much LOL

I managed to book hotel that is about 10-15 minutes walk from the arena and about 30 minutes from the old town. Last time I was in Prague I slept in a lovely hotel 3 minutes from Hradczany but this is too far from the arena :( Prague is just 5 hours drive from me, so there will be no better occasion in forseeable future.

For clarify , I'm 50% Chilean and 50% Argentinian (my dad is Argentinian) so bond obligates it. . Here I'm in a discussion with a friend mine she's Argentinian coach so it's very interesting discussion 😂 about scoring
ouch :D and the season just started...

Wow so Levito got six 3's and one 1 for a combo where the 3T was a clear underrotation almost a downgrade. Got an underrotation on the 3Lo, but imo the 3T underrotation was more blatant but not called. So odd.

Of course Samo got the q on the 3T (which I don't disagree with but a much better landing than Isabeau's), but a bunch of -1's of course. One judge had her at 5.75 for composition...:scratch2:

I'm not interested in the costume discussion at all.

I am very much interested in the skating and the scoring.

70+ for a ladies SP without a lutz and with a called underrotation is really something. Except for the loop, the judges clearly like Isabeau's SP a lot. This was an extremely successful debut of this program. It's only going to get better.

Obviously not, but I seem to be in the minority here, because I thought what she wore was cute, and very Isabeau :)

The kisses to the audience, for the second season in a row, less so :)
She wore the shorts and a little red T-shirt for her exhibition at 2025 Worlds!

Nice skate by Samo, 3Lz exit was little unstable but otherwise very solid.
The 3Lz exit was not unstable, but I have no idea how a judge gave her +4 for it anyways. Crazy!

an easy 70+ if she came from the right country
If Gushchina is getting low 70s for her best skates, Samo's skate here taking 66 is generous. Yes Gushchina is underscored, but even taking a fairly scored mid 70s Frolova performance I dont see Samo being 10 under as underscored at all, completely different level. If she was skating in her "own" country I think she would be getting the same or less.

Her Pres/Comp seems similar to Vazhnova last season which again is very generous. I have her in 6/7 one judge even gave her an 8 for presentation I think thats crazy.

Wow really held her back. 29 PCS smh.
Agaeva gets 30 you think Samo is better? I dont personally.

never seen a tanned goth girl before
Lots of latina goths these days

I have no idea why the violin cover of Chopin's Nocturne Op. 20 is always preferred over the superior piano original in FS... also why is Op. 20 literally the only Nocture ever used, like I need Op. 8 to be a warhorse right now
Fully agree on both points. I think string arrangements for Chopin tend to be... a little superficial. Chopin gives skaters plenty of choices that work well for the sport its really bizarre why they stick with no. 20 so much... and its not like the others arent also incredibly famous they could easily be warhorses. Sinitsyna had an SP to 55/1 a couple seasons ago it was great!!

my favourite nocturne is opus 48 no1... or number 13
Me too!

Yay Sonja! Gracie says she takes one practice a day and only does spins and that's why they are so good.
They are good but I thought her spins have a lot of drift TBH.

Wow Andrea Montesinos is one to watch out for in the near future. She moves really well.

Overall Hilmer is by far my favourite from today. So fun! Extremely well executed. Gonna try to make it live for FS at least for the better groups.

She choreographs her own programs, and they are an absolute delight.
Wow! She is so creative! And she didnt miss a beat in the skate with that little sequence. I am really interested to see what she has for the FS.

Podium makes sense. Is Isabeau's costume temporary? I dont get the correlation with the program seems really disconnected. I wasn't super impressed by first or second here. I mean the objective placements are correct but I liked Jia more than both by a lot I really hope she brings it back in the FS. I would have cut down Isabeau's PCS but still in first. She is the best technician here for sure anyways. Spins and levels much better than Samo and jumps not far off.

Go ahead, ask some judges (preferably not from a Russian satellite country) and commentators if they know who for example Sofia Dzepka or Lidia Pleskacheva is and what they know about them, and report back. Ideally in a setting where they can't look up the skater, otherwise it's a useless question.
TBF those names are not really comparable to "the Armenian". I am really sure they know her well. Its too bad she had to get dragged into conversation here but anyways if her scoring is the same as Samo's then Armenia has nothing to worry about, lol.

Depleted? Isn't Mao Shimada one of the best skaters in the World right now?
I have Shimada quite easily as the best ladies skater competing internationally right now. I think she is in her own league. Both junior and seniors. Kaori is there but no ultra-c like Mao.
