2025 Masters de Patinage

You're right - there's no screening of Adam's free. I've never heard of this sort of censoring before (until yesterday).

These are my thoughts as well. Never hear of anything similar before.

Obviously Adam is in a very weak state, his warm-ups only show that much. But again, this broadcast veto only makes him look even weaker (and quite a bit entitled if I'm completely honest here.. though I'm willing to withhold judgement on that front). But it's 100% altogether dumb, that's for sure.

Btw, Adam's FS score was 136; third in the free and third overall behind Kevin and Pitot:..... we can still see the scores and shortly even the protocols.... oh goodness, this veto thing is just SO dumb! 🙈 (ah yes, I know I'm repeating myself in just 2 paragraphs, but really, never saw anything like it)

If the online world rumors are correct, Adam had three falls and an otherwise lackluster performance.

He really should not have skated here, but now I'm thinking he was semi-forced to do so against his own wishes.

I remember several years ago at Skate America, Kevin was injured or ill - didn't want to skate the free - and was sort of made to do so by the French Fed. It was terrible. I'm really starting to not like those people.

Protocols are up, yes, 3 falls, some -GOEs and overall uncharacteristically low +GOEs.
This was my hunch, last year Adam withdrew every time he was not ok, so I don't suspect he wanted to skate ill.

Ok, enough already with Adam's auto-veto nonsense 😁 Lets move on to the nice (and logical! :cheeky:) things!

Kevin!! I just found out he is returning Bolero (yeah I know, quite late to the party) and was incredibly happy! This is a great program that I love and it got kind of a rocky season, so it's wonderful it's getting another go and, as a plus, for an Olympic season; it's a perfect Olympic program indeed, so powerful. And the skate was lovely (great energy and perfect ending); I hope it only grows on strength, passion and energy as the season goes to culminate in an amazing grand finale such as the music 😁 :cheer:

Also, Pitot was quite good, should probably look closer at his skates, and the skater from Monaco was not bad either (some jump mishaps but he is really tall and big, so probably not the easiest for him); Luc too, early in the season and not quite in shape, but with potential. French men may be quite interesting to follow during the season.

I wasn't able to watch live today because of work but I sneaked a peek at the protocols and o.o there must've been something in the water, because it looks like jumps went well for no one.

But same as @niks - I love that the Bolero program is back, I loved it the first time around, and I hope he can have a great season with it. I know the French national comp scores are always inflated, especially on the tech/GOE side, but I love the potential here - cross checking with what he got with that program internationally before, the inflation was not that big - and that's the score even with a pop and two combos missing.

Regardless of the circumstances of the video block, I'm glad we did not see Adam's programs in such a rough shape as the first impression of them. And I really wish all thee national feds who force their top skaters to go through domestic comps in bad physical shape really reconsider their policies - there's zero value to monitoring or evaluating performance when you *know* it's not gonna be even close to good form/a realistic picture of what they can pull in a month or two during the actual important events and you're risking your top athletes getting injured or sick even more.

I recall watching GPFrance 2023 for the first impression. It was simply fantastic. Had I watched any of the earlier so-called events, I would never have enjoyed the programs as much as I did. Some people like to watch crap and then complain about it. OMG WHY DIDN'T HE SHOW HIS PROGRAMS - HE MUST BE ITCHING HIVES OR OVERDRAWN ON HIS CHECKING ACCOUNT!! HE'LL NEVER WORK IN THIS TOWN AGAIN!

...and some people like to watch skaters evolve from the beginning of the season until they peak. I think it's fair some fans are frustrated by this non-disclosure ;)

Look, Skate Canada is having a high performance camp this week. It's not a competition. There is no footage available.. just snippets here and there.. If the French fed and its athletes want to do that, they can. If they want to run a competition, then, let us watch all of it ;)

Maybe wait some time before you'll watch them. For now they aren't really dancing together.
This was my main takeaway as well. Hard to fully judge in that video quality but it seemed to me they barely made eye contact for more than a few seconds at a time and that Laurence was struggling to maintain sharpness of arm movements in the second half of the program--it was definitely designed to highlight Guillaume's strengths and not hers, which is unfortunate. Music cuts need work, I love Depeche Mode but this was very monotonous and almost lethargic at times. Furthermore, it puts a bad taste in my mouth how similar the opening choreography is to Papadakis/Cizeron's 2021-22 RD... to mangle a phrase, it gives the impression of reheating nachos that were much fresher and more enjoyable with Cizeron's previous partner.

It's not unsalvageable by any means but IMO as debuts go they don't look like they're ready to set the ice dance world on fire just yet.

I think it's juvenile. A skater doesn't have to answer to so-called fans. The next time a person wants to demand something from a skater, let them pony up and start taking on some of the skater's financial burdens.

I think there is a misunderstanding here. I don't see what any of this has to do with fans demands. It's not the fans, not real fans nor so-called fans, that are demanding Adam out of the blue to show his programs. You would think they broke into his rink and spied on him or something.

It's the format of the official competition he entered that implies the broadcast of the skates of all participants. In fact, any competition implies the showing of the programs by its very basic definition, and competitions that are streamed imply their general broadcast. And of course, when you enter a competition, you know all this very well, so in fact, it's nobody asking anything out of you, but you actually wanting to enter the competition and accepting everything that goes with it.

Just to be clear, I don't think fans are those really damaged by the nonsense we witnessed around Adam these last days. Of course, some fans might be disappointed, others simply flabbergasted, most truly concerned for Adam's state at this point. But the real damage here was actually done to Adam himself (and sadly, most likely by himself).

There is no official statement coming from the French Fed confirming or denying who was responsible for a skater attending this event. That means there is no way of knowing who was asked to be here, told to be here, or who came here on their own volition. Anyone claiming they know with 100 percent certainty is simply barking up the wrong tree.

Good luck to the gents heading into the GP season and OLYG 2026.

Free Dance

That was Tiffany Zagorsky with the Hungarians with her natural long blonde hair wasn't it?

Lying on your back doing bicycle kicks on the ice during the Choreo Character Steps? 🤔

It's a no from me.

What is this get up? D/LM leaving it VERY late in the programme to make an impression...
Is Geoffrey injured? He seemed very shaky today.

She has several teams here, it seems.
Yes, I didn't know she was Coaching in France now.

Generally thus far in the FD, the scoring has been very restrained by the Judges. Let's see if it continues?
