2025 Grand Prix de France Rhythm Dance

I do see now how the Charlene/Marco program went flat during the “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely” section. Doesn’t exactly scream ‘90s dance party, even though they tried to speed up the tempo of the song, it sounded and felt strange. It’s surprising that Barbra signed off on that, but these two did have a longer off season going into this season and didn’t skate a challenger, so they are clearly behind where they normally are at this time.
At the Bolero Cup Fear and Gibson used the more downbeat Viva Forever for part of their RD. After some feedback they swapped it to the more upbeat Who Do You Think You Are.

I think Guignard and Fabbri made an error by not competing at an earlier event.

Chock/Bates and Gilles/Poirier are doing the same (as usual), but they are probably the only ones who can afford that.
Considering they finished 1&2 at Worlds while the Italians lost to Fear and Gibson, I would say you are right.

Sure, it is not easy to compete as much as some of the younger teams are (the Brits, the Georgians). But these two teams were skating at every competition they could fit into their schedules since September. You get your programs out, you get feedback, points, build momentum. What a ridiculous mistake in a year where you are fighting for Olympic medals.

I diagree with you, they have no chemistry and the program was just a lot of chorepgraphy and showing of skating skills, it was not really performing, it wasn´t really innovative either since he did something similar with Gabi. They have good basics skating skills, you can´t deny that, but that is it for me. The concept of the idea of them skating together is good, but it stops there too. Also Guillame weakness is becoming more obvious now. Laurence is outskating him. I´m not sure he is going to like it in the long run.
Let's wait for the free. The SP didn't really suit anyone but Brits and S/D.

In that case, Madonna's costumes by which it is inspired were ugly too.
Not necessarily; it's a matter of whether the "dress" does the body that's wearing it any favors. In the case of Laurence, my opinion is "no."

Eva Pate's costume was similar in coverage, but it looked better on her, IMHO.

I actually don't mind the costumes, though I would have FB in a more saturated color than pale pink since it washes out to nude.
I thought the washing out to nude was intentional.!

I think it's more to do with the colour of it. The same costume would probably look better in black instead of the baby pink.

We are a funny lot, we all want ice dance to be less rigged, but then when the results aren’t exactly what we expect we get upset. 🤣🤣
This is true, and it's amusing to see it play out whenever it happens.

I'm enjoying the thread. I didn't bother watching the RDs. Generally, I don't like this segment, and there are absolutely ZERO teams here I have any real interest in. Still, I would have liked for Canadians to have placed higher. All the RDs I've seen so far this season have been garbage - I blame the theme.

Fingers crossed that C/B and G/P bring something special whenever they debut - although Piper and Paul are going with Ru Paul, and that doesn't sound promising to me. No idea what Chock and Bates are doing.

I thought it was better than other teams' music, but what do I know? Maybe the judges need choke-and-construction zone sounds.
It was better. Except they sped the middle part, it's a slow song, people dance to that kind of stuff too, just differently. Apparently people ISU who make rules are unaware of this. I watched RD because I was curious what happened, but this whole idea of upbeat "essence" is just wrong. For one thing, skating is not about jerking one's limbs and shaking one's bum as fast as one can, it's about gliding on edges. GF are rare skaters who are old enough to actually remember what they listened and danced to in the 90s.

It's a risky move. One that almost backfired even on Chock and Bates. Remember their grand prix performance the year they won their first world title?
I do! The past few years it seems like they were taking turns as to who would show up at their first competition with some type of issue (e.g., illness, a case of the stumblebums, food poisoning, etc). They make me nervous as I'm pulling for them to win big this season 🤞🍀🙏

I totally agree.

I still can’t believe Team Guignard/Fabbri failed to take advantage from the major error committed by Cizeron. Ugh, they may never get another opportunity like that and their stock just continues to plummet. :eek2:
