2025-26 Russian Junior Grand Prix - Stage 2 - Magnitogorsk

Great skate by Arina!

But who had the idea to give Burleske to a petite person like her? Performance wise it doesn't work at all.
Remember though that she already had several "princess programs" before, sometimes it is needed to show wider range.

I don't say she was perfect but 121 is abomination. They really hate her, confirmed.

Absolutely deserved gold for Bazyluk perfect skating she completely outshone everybody else today (I didnt witness even a microsecond of her program).

Margo is a good way to be restored as junior skating queen. Today's mistakes were not attributed to bad technique or lack of form, those were normal "nerve problems", I hope next time she will be mentally OK and avoids it.

Generally those free skates were very good, much better than the short programs.

That's perfectly right and ok, but Burlesque always implies a certain strengh of personality, which Arina at her age and petite build cannot credibly deliver on the ice. Something jazzy, lighthearted for example would get her away from a princess image just as well and fit her much better. There are many options.

Agata has never had the highest PCS with a significant gap before.

The judging is not just strict or anything. It's different, it changed a lot. I like it so far.

IMO a junior shouldn't skate to Burlesque at all.

No 3A and hesitant spin entries suggests there are still physical barriers. She is clearly on her way to full recovery though. I expect a nats victory for her this year, there is no PCS gap anymore she skates beautiful even Dzepka wont be able to run away and crutch on PCS against her anymore. Everyone hopped off the Bazyluk bandwagon onto the Dzepka-Kostyleva bandwagon but I'm still a BazyBot till I die.

Burlesque suggests not being 13 regardless of your "strength of personality".

Arina: 3Lz+3T< and 3Lz! in protocol. Still they call her much more often then the others. I really wonder if this is Plushenko lobby. It lasts for a year already, since her trial.

We'll see what happens throughout the season. Her PCSs were same as Bazyluk in SP. Bazyluk would've been higher with a clean skate. Can't tell what the judges are thinking from one FS especially considering Agata's competitors weren't clean at all. I wouldn't get my hopes up for anything. We still have seniors tomorrow for which the judging tends to be more egregious regarding favouritism, and generally totally inconsistent compared to juniors. Brace yourselves for tomorrow...

It seems to me it got stricter everywhere, incl. international level, though of course with some notable exceptions.

Before, Agata's PCSs were lower than Margo's in most cases. Especially in the SP.

Arseniy Fedotov starts now.
4T, 4S, 3A fall, 3F, 3F+3T, 3Lz+3T, 3Lo+2A+2A.
Good but Axels are problem on this stage.
