2025-2026 Junior Channel One Cup

Judging by everything that has come out so far in the whole Irina-Plushenko mess, Lena will definitely go back and won't allow anything else. Thankfully, she's old enough now to where Irina can't just drag her from coach to coach without her say.
It would be nice to have a real coach for a change...

Plushenko gifted Elena an iPhone recently and elaborated how "now you own it yourself which means nobody can take it away from you and you can always call us whenever you need". Really suggests that Elena sees the Plushenkos or AOP generally as guardians. I don't know how much the Plushenkos "actually" care about her but it seems like they at least treat her properly and she appreciates it compared to her mother.

How about a real family? A real childhood? Or whatever "real" means—just something that isn't abusive at least?

Honestly, at this point I will believe the worst about I. Kostyleva, including Munchausen's by proxy. Except she is so toxic, she probably doesn't even need to do anything, she just poisons everything around her. I dunno. This definitely throws a dark shadow over the Cup, and I was really looking forward to it.

Lena has had many "real coaches." But it's impossible for them to do their job properly when Irina finds a problem with everything they do and essentially wants to play coach. And as long as Irina is attached to her, I don't see any other notable coach wanting to take Lena, no matter how talented she is.

Yea, it's clear that Lena seems them as people she feels safe with. Hopefully they really do care about her and won't just lose interest as soon as she hits puberty and starts struggling with jumps...but as long as Lena feels safe with them and they continue to shower her in gifts, I think Lena will refuse to leave.

I made a typo, I meant to write I hope she doesn't go back to Plushenko.

Lena's mother is quite cunning, it is hard to know her next move exactly. I think this is just to give Plushenko and his wife a bit of a fright, make them worry about who will take Lena's place in the show, just to remind Plushenko who holds the cards here.

The goal from here is probably to make the national team again so top 6 finish is the correct? So even with a coach as bad as Plushenko that is achievable, so maybe they go back for the rest of the season then pull the rug out from under him at the end of the season once Lena is in the national team again.

There is just no future with Plushenko. She'll end up like Titova. The mother seems to understand that jumps aren't going to cut it anyway, she needs to develop in all other areas for seniors, but everything has worsened under Plushenko.

There's nothing to worry about regarding the shows. They would just replace her with Sofia Sarnovskaya (who was Plushy jr's partner in these shows before Lena was at AoP), which would drive Irina crazy, given her hatred of that family. And the goal is definitely still to win nats and the final...Irina wouldn't accept anything less 😬. I'm not happy about the focus on jumps, but once again, this is Irina's fault...she's complained more than once about Lena not doing enough ultra-c content in her programs and literally said she doesn't go to choreo classes

Kostyleva has bigger issues that her skating placements right now. If Plushenko is a guardian which she feels safe around, she should stay with him.

I don't think her presence will affect their show sales at all, which feature the Ignatovs and Kunitsas. Elena is a star for competitive viewers as a prodigious prospect, she isn't really an established enough name to carry exhibitionary ticket sales alone, or have a significant impact one way or another. People attend to experience the story, production, and just to see legends like Sasha in person. Never mind Plushenko himself. Almost nobody on the roster is making or breaking ticket sales except Sasha at this point IMO. The rest is just about production and atmosphere.

It looks like Margo declined the invitation. Diana Milto got the spot.
Well, it sounds like she just wants to focus on training? Then again, TT tends to always send skaters for performance practice. Hope all it well for her and nothing new has come up.

Well, Lena only withdrew 2 days ago. Perhaps Margo already had plans and didn't wanna change them just for channel 1 cup  it could be an injury or her not being in form, but I don't think she was ever officially announced as Lena's replacement. Anyway, both Lena and Margo have already done junior channel 1 cup, so this will be a nice opportunity for Diana
