I'm trying to compile a list of the top 10 highest-scoring elements in ladies skating under the IJS (in international competition). Below is what I've come up with so far...if anyone can think of/find an element that should crack this list, please chime in.

Wow, Angela Wang rocks!

We have to be a little bit cautious because both base values and GOEs have changed over the years.

Understood...just going for total points, regardless of rule changes.

I know, Angela appearing on this list more times that anybody shocked me...what a combo she had!

What about the men?

Kevin van der Perren got a total of 19.0 for his 4T+3T+3T at 2010 Worlds.

Patrick Chan got 17.4 for his 4T+3T in the LP at Sochi (all +3 GOEs).

Most of this list would just be Patrick Chan since his 4T + 3T has gotten big GOE may times. Nobunari Oda at 2008 Nebelhorn, 3A + 3T + 3Lo = 18.45, would surely be on this list also.

It is surprising... What are Angela's prospects for going senior this year, if any?

I'm impressed with how high Mao's 3F-3Lo scores were. Especially considering how hard it is/was for the +3Lo to get ratified.

I think that callers were not as strict on under-rotations on loops back then in 2007 and 2008. Mao got 5.50+5.00 = 10.50 base value, and GOEs were not factored, so with straight +2's, that's 12.50 points.

If you watch the video, the 3Lo is badly under-rotated (though still lovely), it quite possibly would be downgraded to a 2Lo now-a-days. These things just weren't called in the 2007 era.

I'd imagine Plu would be on here with his 4T+3T+3L, if it was ever ratified under CoP... even a 4T+3L+2L might be. Probably Javier's 4S+3T would be up there. Anyone we know that did 4-3 in the second half of programs?

Just found the new leader, and this one's going to be hard to beat: Miki's 3Lz-3Lo-2T at 2004 NHK scored 13.5 points.

Neither one of those was badly under-rotated. She did underrotate her 3F-3Lo at 2008 Worlds in the LP, and that was called. Back in 2007-08 her 3-3Loops when landed were awesome, the UR issues on her 3-3 really started coming in late 2008. 2008-09 was when they started really cracking down on URs and that happened to be the same time as when Mao's 3-3 was getting worse.

Those jumps have way more than 1/4 pre-rotation and very close to 1/2 pre-rotation, go watch the videos. Those would not escape < call now-a-days.

Plush's highest scoring 4T-3T-2Lo was at the Grand Prix Final 2004-05, I think--16.50 (14.5 BV + 2.00 GOE). Stephane Lambiel's 4-3-2 in Torino isn't too far behind--15.50. He actually outscored Plush (15.36) on the same element that night.

The judges were stingier with GOE back then, plus the quad wasn't as valuable. Hence why their scores look ridiculously low (Patrick Chan outscoring them with just 4-3, lol).

There is video on YouTube of Gracie Gold doing a 3Lz-3Tl-3Lo. Its from almost 3 years ago. I guess she never put it into one of her programs.

I don't believe three triple jumps are allowed in combination. That would be why. Radinova practices it also as I'm sure many others can and do.

Why wouldn't 3-3-3s be allowed? It does use up your triples though and isn't worth the risk because the scoring system doesn't reward crazy hard combos. There are also videos of Shizuka Arakawa and Carolina Kostner doing them in practice too. Shizuka landed a 3Z-3T-2L combo at 2004 worlds but it wasn't under IJS if I remember correctly.

^I think you're right. They're allowed, but there's absolutely no point in doing them. Basically same as three-jump quad combos for the men these days... a dying breed... (well, stillborn breed, since 3-3-3 for women never got landed in competition at all, iirc)

It would only be worth it ifit was done well to get goes so you could do an extra double axel or maybe a double lutz later on to garner a few more points but the gamble is pretty much a deterrent.

I've seen people post before that the third jump had to be double but have failed in my search to find anything to prove it within ISU guidelines:slink:

It would be very risky!!
