Bahaha, I really dig Schwendinger/Wunderlich's Addams Family. The choreography is so Addams Family.

I'm glad Fabbri/Pietrantonio will get another Junior season, especially since Alicia is so young. I'm excited to see how they progress.

Thankfully Alicia will be Senior eligible the year after Claudio is no longer Junior eligible.

The Canadians are good but unfortunately I think she's going to outgrow him very soon. She is only 13 and he has a small, light frame.

True. It stinks when potential is there but biology is against them

Parsons/Parsons are in for sure, since they're guaranteed a medal. Ushakova/Nekrasov are out, since they can get no higher than silver and their total is 276.31 which puts them behind Skoptcova/Aleshin and Polishchuk/Vakhnov.

And with Shpilevaya/Smirnov gaining silver, they've secured their place in the final. Ushakova/Nekrasov are out of even alternates due to a tiebreaker.

Qualified:

Loboda/Drozd
Parsons/Parsons
McNamara/Carpenter
Abachkina/Thauron
Carreira/Ponomarenko
Shpilevaya/Smirnov

Alternates:

Skoptcova/Aleshin
Polishchuk/Vakhnov
Kuzmich/Sinicyn

Loved their skate in the Free Dance, thought scores should have been higher, but this is a beautiful program and so glad they are in the final!!

It is amazing that:
the Belorussians improved by 18 points over their previous outing
the Estonians improved by 5 points over their previous outing
the Ukrainians improved by 14 points over their previous outing
Russian team #2 improved by nearly 3 points over their previous outing

but the Americans dropped by nearly 3 points over their previous outing, and there was a purpose to that....

I will explain in detail after I look at the protocols.

The right six teams are in the final, in my opinion. Loboda & Drozd and Abachkina & Thauron had the advantage of skating at home; but we have the right battle in the first flight and the second at the JGPF. Very rare to see that. (Usually in seniors, at least, a team gets in based on a weak field or someone withdrawing). But this is a very nice group of six. All the teams have at least one FD score in the low 90's. We get to see the battle for the future--Carreira & Ponomarenko and Shpilevaya & Smirnov--and the battle between the medalists from last year's Junior Worlds. And with all those close FD scores, there is also the potential for surprise.
