2014-2015 Programs by Discipline

Ill say this....it's very exciting learning all these new programs. Whether you :bang: or :yay: it's hard to not get caught up in it

we are always so excited waiting the music announces, I don't know why, forever the same music :bang:

POTO is becoming the Carmen of singles.

You gotta wonder if anyone else is going to announce they're using POTO this year. I know if I'd selected and found out that at least 3 or 4 other people are using it, I'd be scrambling to skate to something else right now.

It was odd back in 2008 when both Miki and Yukari skated to Giselle back to back at Skate America (Yukari totally won that battle). Can you imagine having to watch 2 or 3 POTO back-to-back(-to-back)?? :bang:

I hate it as well. But as far as I know, POTO has more than 20 sessions of music, they could randomly choose different sessions from the other. I hope so.

Carmen too, but they all end up with the same music. The Barber of Seville as well, but they all end up with "Largo al Factotum", Marriage of Figaro but I'm afraid they will end up with the Overture. AT least The Marriage is not overused in FS.

Hanyu, Mura, Murakami, and Gold are all skating their LPs to it.

Although this is the case, if all of them use different 5min pieces of POTO's music then it shouldn't it be ok  And we won't hear it exactly back to back right  as the guys and ladies skate on different days. And Hanyu and Mura will not be in the same competition except maybe NHK

Ehem, Javi? :slink: Borser squad is crazy for quads.

Fernandez never had a 2nd half quad combo or 3As in the 2nd half. Kovtun had both his 3A's in the 2nd half last season but no quad. So to answer lilahozi's question, no one has attempted such a layout.

Let me add another Men's Singles to the POTO fray. Per the Michael Martinez thread here he will also have that as his LP while retaining his R&J last season.

Imagine if Hanyu, Mura, and Martinez all go to Four Continents, with Gold and Murakami there as well... (which I think is very possible) Five singles POTO in the same competition! LOL and :bang: at the same time :ohwell:

I know that feeling. Once in a piano recital there were like 4 kids that played Scientist by Coldplay :ohwell:

Giving the credit where it's due - Miki actually said that she felt it would be boring for the audience to watch two programs to the same music in a row and changed her program before the GPF.

It already had been the Carmen of the singles - now it's becoming something more! I don't think I've seen that many Carmen programs from top skaters in one season. I remember there being like 3-4 Carmens in one show back in 2006, but those were EX numbers, and luckily the music cuts were very different from each other (to the point that an audience member unfamiliar with Carmen would be unable to recognize that all music pieces were inspired by the same opera).

As for PotO... Ugh. :( Did the skaters get drunk at one of the show in Japan and made a pact to skate to the same music?

The thing is, many of my favourite skaters have already skated to PotO, and IMHO it was one of their worst programs. And if Akiko, Yukari and Daisuke couldn't manage a masterpiece with this music, I'm not sure anyone can.

So far I have the most hope for Kanako's LP - I've seen some practice clips and she seems fierce enough to make the program entertaining (plus, she said she'll be portraying Phantom, not Christine). Yuzuru can get pretty fierce, too, plus his jump layout can make the program exciting regardless of the music. Still, so many PotOs in a row... :ohwell:

I just listened to Julia L.'s SP Music (Bel Suono, Megapolis), and I gotta say - wow! Girl sure knows how to pick her music. Fantastic choice!
If you like 'Megapolis' you should also listen to their other wonderful pieces
Lonely Heart
Prayer
Waltz
BTW, excerpts from Waltz were used in Elena Radionova's 2012 JWC winning FS (final segment) by the same Mr. Averbukh :)

Sounds like a splat fest.

His 4S is so inconsistent; he also always looked dead at the end of his FS last season.

Yuzuru Hanyu never fails to amaze me!!!!!!!!! a wild roller coaster ride is starting again!!!!!

We're here complaining about all the POTO that is going to be used. How possible is it for someone at this point in the game to go ahead and switch music, just like that? Don't skaters have most of the choreo finished at this point?
