I LOVE Yoyo Ma's Silk Road Journeys ensemble music and have used them in my skating. Does anyone know what pieces of music he is using?

Very wise move to return to "Lilies" for his short. With the trouble he has had getting the quad in the short, repeating a known program should help. (If he can get over the CRASH memories.

I remember his Mother saying he was going to retire after 2010. I wonder how much the 2014 retirement was his family pushing it. He has ongoing physical issues to work with, so I guess we'll see.

Perhaps "Latch" was too controversial?

His family doesn't interfere or get involved with his decisions. That's all him and his coaching team.

Alex and Daniel are in Salt Lake City and tomorrow they debut their new Free Dance. Originally, their Free Dance for 2014/15 was to a medley from the “Godfather”. Marina, wanted them to skate to Gone With The Wind. This is Alex’s favorite movie and is a Aldridge Family tradition to watch annually. It’s a love story in the Antebellum South complete with Alex portraying Scarlet and Daniel as Rhett Butler. When Marina first played Itzhak Perlman’s version of “Tara’s Theme”, we all fell in love with it. Marina added the Charleston Heel and Toe Polka (Our US Nationals is in North Carolina), and the iconic theme composed by Max Steiner. Marina and Massimo work with with Alex and Daniel on this and again so we hope you enjoy. Their costumes are still being worked on so using temporary for now, thanks to our training partners; its early in the season and between World's and Coaching changes it been hectic. I just love the Itzhak Perlman violin solo.

If you mean, a thread for videos, there is a video thread in each competition folder for the JGP.

There are quite a few vids in the Russian Test Skate thread.

Likewise there are quite a few vids in this thread.

Which skaters' new programs are already online? Is there a thread for new programs? TIA :agree:

The most recent one I've seen is Max Aaron's Footloose short program. I like the music choice and love that step sequence (despite the fall), but I think I need time for the rest of it to grow on me. It's weird; the first half feels like an exhibition but the second half looks like a competitive program. I'd like to see him do it in front of a large, engaged crowd. I think it'll make a big difference, performance-wise.

Thank You Doris for the Video Links. This is a real blessing for skating parents who can't attend these events and offers an opportunity for the parent to share with family and friends.

Apologies if somebody has already posted this information, but 77 pages with 1152 posts is rather a lot of go through! ;)

With her appearance at the Nebelhorn trophy coming up, I decided this morning to ask Anna Ovcharova what music she is using this season.

SP: "Butterflies Are Free" by Alfred Shnittke
FS: An Edith Piaf medley

I've never heard tell of the SP music before, and I can't find it anywhere. So, it will be exciting to hear some music that is completely new to me!

As for the FS, well I love Edith Piaf. But, whatever music is used in the medley (I didn't ask), if Anna and her Choreographer choose to include the lyrics, I really hope it is the French lyrics. Edith Piaf songs just don't sound right with English lyrics!

Hope this helps

:scowl: why????, I mean, I love that music but her recent video skating RJ was so flat. I hope it will be different.

That was just an exhibition. She skated both her SL and Don't Give Up On Love programs very differently from her competitive ones when she was in the exhibitions. We don't even know if she had worked with Ilya yet at that point. I think the music suits her very well.
