Lazukin is a good skater but he has funding problems so he has to work to pay for his skating. That and his lack of mental toughness contributes to inconsistency. But when everything goes well he is very nice to watch, too bad it doesn't happen often.

That is the problem with figure skating. It is VERY expensive if you want to get anywhere in the sport. And even if you do make it to the top, the prize money isn't good enough to cover the costs.

The only way you can make money in this sport is through sponsorship deals. But, most companies aren't interested in figure skaters. ANd those that are are only interested in Kim Yun-A.

If this was another sport, with the success she had last year, his girlfriend would be worth a round fortune and would be able to help him out. But, because this is figure skating, she isn't.

And that is why I have an admiration for figure skaters as opposed to a lot of other sports people. Because you know that they are not skating for the money; you know that they are skating because they want to. And because you know that they have persevered with pursuing their dream despite all the odds being stacked against them.

They are an inspiration, unlike those overpaid footballers...!
