Wow. I witnessed Javi's career from his first entry at the European Championships and now he is World Champion. When I created his Wikipedia article back then, they wanted to delete it because of lack of relevance.

Also, two guys in the top 6 (Misha Ge and Jason) don't have a quad. Proof that consistency gets you far.

I love quads, but too many skaters are going for broke, putting too many in a program.

I'm impressed with Misha Ge. This is his best placing at Worlds by far. Makes me wonder how much earlier he'd have competed like this without all those visa issues.

IMO Jason succeeds with his consistency but he also sort of has that x factor. He's a lovely skater even when the technical elements aren't there. I wouldn't have put his PCS that high but I guess that's his reward for doing well all season. But if you're looking at just technical elements, then yes it's fair to be critical

I thought his political components scoring were definitely inflated today, but then at least it wouldn't make much of a ranking change so I don't mind. US need the spots!!

Congrats Javier! Well deserved. My favourite long was Denis Ten's. Normally I'm not the biggest fan of him, but I really thought this years programs suited him perfectly.
