2015 Worlds Short Dance March 25

P/C are the only ones who make me watch ice dance right now. They give me the same feeling V/M did in 2008..

As I suspected, the difference is in the steps.

All this BS about politics. It's fairly common knowledge that Igor is the best technical coach in the world. His skaters proved it again.

Level 4's for everything.

The tech specialist who made the calls on levels is Canadian. The assistant tech specialist for this event is Russian.

How this translates into political maneuvering on the part of the Americans is beyond me, but by all means, continue to live that fantasy.

I kind of agree with this. P/C have that magical (and sexy ;) ) connection that V/M have. None of the other couples do. There's something almost sensual about them that's really stunning to watch.

C/B skated really well... What I don't understand is that non-touching step sequence. How on earth could they score high on that? The first half is mainly crossovers. Even C/L, though hardly fantastic skaters, nor beloved by the board (or yours truly) at least make more of an attempt to do, well, steps.

I'm not angry :)

Just saying what I saw

I meant "angry". I know you were not literally angry. :biggrin:Frustration maybe the best word. :)

In any case, you were mistaken. There was only 1 minor stumble from Ruslan.

There is a mistake in the protocols for the Shibs. They got all the KP in the second PD, but only got L3.

It's quite a shame for the Shibs. They have two 35+ TES scores, close to their PB TES since their breakout 2011 season, and yet the best they could place is 6th. I think it would serve the Shibs best to not dwell too much on the placement and focus on the fact, they came a long way from the beginning of the season when they were getting level 2 pasos.

OMG. I wonder if Marina will catch that? That's a whole point, which would move them up one spot.

Or it could have been an error the other way...a YYT rather than a YYY.

I find P/C extremely boring, and I'm amazed that anyone thinks the Shibutani's are capable of being World Champs right now, or even better than a pair like C/B? This thread confuses me in all kinds of ways, but it's been interesting reading tonight.

(I know I'm going to be killed because of this) but I wasn't that impressed with the Shibs: they skated well, but I would never put them ahead of C/B or W/P

How did C/B's twizzles get level 4? And why do you leave out the tech controller is AMERICAN? There is also an AMERICAN judge on the panel, but no Canadian or French judge.

It's not that they should be World Champs, I personally am not a fan of the FD but Imo they are the best technically and that was not reflected here.

Maybe not (although I prefer their SD to both C/B or W/P's when they're on), but they should have been higher than I/Z imo. I/Z had visible problems the Shibs didn't, and I think their program is better and they skate better together than I/Z do as of this moment.

A lot of us thought that maybe B/S would be back, but they ended up taking the entire year off. Then S/K didn't work out the way anyone hoped. Heck, M/K were considered good bets for Sochi as recently as 2011 when they were world junior champs but right now they're fighting to stay in the top 10. So the Russians now have I/Z to lead the way, but M/K and S/B aren't stepping up. We'll likely see Russia get two dance spots next year. And if Yuko & Sasha don't deliver in pairs and T/M place decently, they might lose their three spots in pairs as well.

M/k and s/b can't step up. They really aren't being taught modern cop ice dance. No Russian team is actually. The Russian federation is just wrong on eveything. People say they supported s/k the most and then s/k can't even get sd minimums. That makes sense. The team they are most invovled with cant even go to worlds.

Pairs is not as bad. They just need harder sbs triples. The problem with ice dance is fundamental
