2016 Europeans Ladies Free Skate

Sigh, Lena is the ultimate Almost Girl. Outside of juniors she's never been the #1 Russian lady, always behind some combination of Yulia, Adelina, Liza, and now Evgenia. I think mentally it may be easier to be beaten by Liza last year because Liza has more experience, but it must be tough being beaten by a younger skater, just out of juniors, whom Lena used to defeat.

I know she's not a perfect skater and I didn't like her jump landings even when she was crushing the Junior Grand Prix. But is it possible that Russia doesn't promote her enough because her coach doesn't have as much pull?

but Lena is much more loved by russian forumers and fans, so I dont think it has anything to do with her coach
the politicking doesnt go outside of cska I guess

I love Evgenya but real try will be the next season for her. Congrats. For me 1 and 2 are correct, but I would agree ofer Pogo - Kuchvalska

Yes. The next season is the one that will determine if she's just a 1 season wonder like so many before her. I have some confidence in her but her poor technique with the axel is catching up to her... Getting some Julia vibes regarding that.

That's why I like Elena, always shows true emotions, on ice and off ice

About the Tano excess, I think we should all blame the judges or the judging system. I wish the judges only took the first few jumps as a novelty into the difficulty/GOEs. Sometimes, the too much of good, is just too much. :palmf:

Elena Radionova is just trying to make up for Ksenia Stolbova's absence this year :p

Someone has to be the "Russian pissed off that the other Russian I beat earlier this season won and not me"

I'm not really too concerned with the scores because as stated earlier.....if people want to compete with Zhenia the Late(program jumper) then they just need to take a run at the same layout. Nothing is stopping them from attempting it. Just add a really long StSeq and when people wake up then go ham with the jumps.

Scores aside......who had fun watching this event? I know some heads came unglued but I had a blast. Who's with me here? Hooray for Bratislava and everyone skating their best. That's all that matters.

I'm going to the jumpamatron machine myself :slink:

God, I forgot how excrapable (Freudian typo, and I'm totally keeping it:devil:) that program is. (Although I thought Elena looked beautiful in her new dress.) Who did the "choreo"?

correct me if I'm wrong, but it is choreo by Mr. Nikolai 'Voiceovers from sinking ship' Morozov himself

Do I think a barrage of tanos is aesthetically pleasing? No. But you do what you gotta do to get those points!

I think that it's just the fact that Medvedeva's simply better... It's weird that people don't seem to consider this as a possibility. And I haven't even been a Medvedeva fan, in 2013-2014 she wasn't even my favorite new junior(Proklova was) and I'd say that I did even somewhat dislike her at that time.

No, that's only in the US nationals. (No one knows why but US apparently need to be special)

Ahhhh, I see lol. Still learning, and I saw talk of it during US Nationals so I thought others had it as well. Oh yes, we Americans always have to buck the trend lol - Fahrenheit, empirical measurements, pewter medals...

I think she has to seriously work on her posture if she wants to be really great. Evgenia hasn't the best posture but it's far better than Elena's. A lady figure skater can't get away with that and honestly, I don't want to see a World Champion with a hunched back. No matter how engaging, fun, tacky and consistent she is.

Evgenia won fair and square.yes, she had the fall but her landings were better, her program was better, and she's superior to Radionova on every level.

I wonder why Elena changed her dress. I liked her other dress better. The black is kind of grim, I think. I missed her and Evgenia's skates but saw Anna's. Some spectacular falls there, but Anna sure looks good. Nothing "juniorish" about her!
