2016 JGP Ljubljana Cup Ladies FS

I wish she would tone down the permanent pageant smile...it's a bit much
I hope she NEVER tones down the smile. When she looks like she is enjoying herself, I enjoy watching her. I'm lovin' Ashley and will enjoy seeing where she will go in the future.

Rika did get full credit for her 3A w/ a GOE of .43 for total score of 8.93! Only Korean judge gave her -1 and SUI gave her +2, otherwise all other judges were 0 and +1.....Holy smokes, just loved it!

Late meaning behind her music or age-wise? If it's the latter, her ISU bio says she was born in 2001 and started skating in 2005, which means at age 3 or 4

I meant age-wise. Thanks for the info.

Sixth group was really nice to watch until Zagitova. I gueas she just couldn't deliver after the pressure of Rika's points. But this results may be enough for all three to qualify for the JGP final.

Eun-Soo  She is so heart warming. I hope she will be the rising star in the next seasons.

Congratulations to Rika who was the clear winner here! Her skating reminds me of Akiko

Marin looks so nervous, stressful. The attention on her effects her badly. She is smooth and elegant, wish she skates with more joy.

Lozko.. I think RF and coaches should give her time to fix underrotation issue. She was so sad to see those low scores after kind of clean skating. Do skaters understand it when they underrotate jumps?

So for the finals:

Sakamoto 28
Kihira 28
Zagitova 26
Honda 26

Tsurskaya and Gubanova are both in if they place top 3, and they both are expected to do so. After that, Honda is last.

Konstantinova is the most relevant one here. She'd need to either win against Gubanova or place second with a really high score. This is unlikely. However, Gubanova has a history of some inconsistency, and so if she fails enough that Konstantinova wins but so that Gubanova still places second or third, Honda is out.

8 triples, all positive GOE. This is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSUEb85kiys Look at her lutz and flip takeoff edges. Squeaky clean. History has been made!

Her performance wasn't half bad, either. I think that she had more soul than most of the younger Japanese ladies that have emerged. She is going to be the next big name if you ask me.

She already has a 3A+3T combo and so we might even see a 9 triple program down the line. Actually, guess that's impossible. Well, anyway.

8 Triple program. -That's impressive. Some of her landings were scratchy so she can get more GOEs if she makes them better. Go Rika.

5 different gold medalists after 5 events. JGPF qualifiers may need a gold in order to make it at this rate. How much faith do you have in Gubanova winning a second gold? :coffee:

Gubanova has to win a second gold in order for Marin to make JGPF. As long as Gubanova and Konstantinova go 1-2, Marin should be good based on the tiebreaker.

Although the placements worked out as well as they could have, Marin and Rika should never have been sent to the same event. Look at Russia clearing the way for Tsurskaya and Zagitova each to make the final... Fingers crossed that two silvers is enough for Marin!

No their won't. We tried to make a nine triple program a few months back. Zayak rule makes it impossible.

I hope Mao was watching lol, i think this is the best Birthday gift for her: a junior lady landing a 3A after her!

Rika needs to hook up with United Airlines and get an endorsement deal ASAP since she literally does "fly the friendly skies" while doing her gorgeous 3a set to Rhapsody in Blue ;) Kids these days.

very difficult transition and choreo from Rika too!
She just got that effortless rotation technique that no other does. Extremely strong core and snap. She doesn't need to jump high. which allows Rika to have the stamina to do a 8 triple program, with lutz as the last jump to say the less.

I'm Glad that Marin is in the final. But do you really believe that TES of Zagitova is lower than TES of Alexandra Feigin.

If Mao had already retired, yes. But now tbh it may be a rather dubious gift for her, considering her own 3A troubles ... :ohwell:
