2016 Skate Canada Ladies FP

Everyone knows you can't compare across competitions. Also, I'm sure YOU DO know that, with the winky face. 10/10 troll.

Was not my suggestion, was another poster who inferred that Kaetlyn would have scored lower at SA. Well, this is SC and her score stands.

I think your writing is dumb.
And when did she do Schindler's List? check your facts before speaking.

That's all.

Stay classy, and nice personal attack. Never said ANYTHING about her other than the program sucks, and guess what, that's not on her, that's on the choreographer and the coaches. I also said she deserved to win, even with the horrid program (that I SAID would be horrid on anyone.)

Apologies, I was thinking of Lipnitskaya. I fixed it, thank you for pointing this out in your very RUDE way.

That's all.

I am sure she does not want to offend anybody. There are too much negative feelings in your post.

I'm sure of it too. She seems to be a lovely girl, I follow her on Twitter and she's very kind and supportive.

That programme caused the many negative feelings (where?) in my post.

She has never skated a schinder's list program, and her LP last year was about the happiness, so this is her first "sad" program.

If you don't like her that much, just don't watch it.

Please show me where I said I didn't like her. Not liking a crap program != Not liking her. I also said she deserved the win. So please, show me where I said I didn't like her.

Time to get out of the weeds here...some people would rather hate, than celebrate. It's party time,

Hey I, for one, am very happy Osmond is back. I like her fire. Her jumps are high as the sky, and that program where she fell on all those passes last year (last year?) was heartbreaking. Glad to see her back and skating (relatively) clean.

I just think that some of these "offended" New Yorkers needs to get off that high horse they are sitting on. The schamltz she is skating to wasn't even written and invented in Russia but in New York by a New Yorker.

For heaven's sake I'm in Finland, thousands of miles from New York and I've never been there, but I stand by my opinion that putting 9/11 soundbites in a programme is offensive. I love my high horse, the saddle is very comfortable and the view is great.

Listen, I LOVE her. And I also find the program greatly disappointing (I live in NJ/ worked in NYC on 9/11). It's partly a matter of taste and partly that the schmaltzy voice-over is just too....TOO. It's reductive, I find it seeks the lowest common denominator; but mostly- she doesn't NEED it. The music is pretty. She's amazing, and elegant- and I think she can do the program justice, do the sentiment justice. The extraneous stuff brings down the quality of the program for me.

I do not really like the music and the program. I did not like programs to Schindlerrs Liste too. But we discuss here about the following thing. Is a Russian allowed to skate to this or is it only reserved for Americans or for nobody. I say a skater of a country with so much victims in WW2 may skate to such tragic themes.

You say

" can she ONLY do tragedy? Shindler's List, 9/11..."

This is her first "sad" program about tragedy so that "ONLY" makes me wonder if maybe you had never watched her in the past.

I don't know what's wrong about her FS honestly, the program is not that literal to recognize it is a 9/11 program. It could be a program about a tragedy in general.

Medvedeva's program is just :slink: The choreo is a rip off of last year's LP, the voiceover, and overall music is disturbing and inappropiate; her jumps are really tiny and insecure (no URs on that 3S-3T-urrrgggh? + an ! on her 3Lz), and still getting 144 points? I think I will stop care about the whole scoring because it doesn't make ANY sense at all. :dev2:

Except it's not. It's taken from a movie about 9/11. It's tacky, in poor taste, and it's beneath her level, quite honestly.

Well, you can hear Dubya in the background, so I suppose that counts as some kind of general tragedy

I would find it extremely tasteless whoever skated to it. Even moreso if it was an American lady.

It's not about countries or politics. It's about potentially hearing your loved one's screams while watching a competitive figure skating programme.

Right Ladies LP!

Evegenia... not loving that dress. Hmm... there were moments of her FP that's great while the part of the voiceovers doesn't really fit her skating (it would've been better without those voiceovers). Her jumps are great as asusual. I feel this program has more jumps and arms swaying. Also exept for that miming, I think she didn't deliver the supposed theme of her program.

Satoko... Like her costume and hair ornament. Lovely spins, nice stsq, and spiral. Better than yesterday, she really needs to keep working on her jumps.

Kaetlyn... nice dress and that little girl is mesmerized. She skated well to her music but this program fell a little bland to me.

Mirai... nice costume and music imo. Her jumping passes aren't there and her expression is too serious. I think it's better if she can smile a bit.

Elizaveta Tuk.... the queen Cleo. Hmm, can't say I love the bottom part of that costume. The program is not my cup of tea but I thought it was different.

Rika... nice expression and speed throughout. I like that costume too. Jumps aren't perfect but I enjoyed her chsq. I also think shes's kind of underscored.

Congratulations to the medalists Evegenia, Kaetlyn and Satoko. :hap10:

Here's the thing. I'm fine with Schindler's List programs, as the Holocaust happened at least two or three generations ago. Time doesn't heal ALL wounds, but it does mend them. 9/11 is a teensy bit too current, and America is still dealing with the reprecussions (as is Europe.) Honestly, I'm fine with NOBODY skating to it. It's just not in good taste. AT ALL. FOR ANYONE.

The ONLY reason Ross Miner's Boston Marathon program was fine with me is because he's a Bostonian. He lived and trained there for a decade.

Well, that's not really true... It's a 9/11 program due to the music source material and (most blatantly) the footwork section with voice over snippets talking about the plane taking off from Boston / hijacking / etc.

That said, I don't think the program is offensive with regard to 9/11... Ha, my problem is that it's offensive to my taste —> cheap / tawdry / schmaltzy / gimmicky —> and Medved = deserves something better than this unsophisticated dreck.

However, I don't this is an affront to my American (or really, just my human) sense of respect/propriety regarding 9/11. What makes this program offensive/inappropriate but a free skate to "Schindler's List" not inappropriate/exploitative? (Or even Ross Miner's tribute program to the Boston Marathon bombing a few seasons back)?

I will state this:

If you are mad, upset, angry about the program, I understand. But please, please direct your ire towards the person who actually deserves it: Averbukh. It was his concept and his creation and I have no doubt he probably sold it to Evgenia in some totally innocuous way.

Averbukh's is the fault, Averbukh and whoever of the RuFed allowed this program past the test skates.

Huh? You can hear 'One of the two planes was hijacked...'; George W. Bush; screams; "Oh my god" and sirens. How much more literal do you want it?

Just shook hands with all the ladies medalists, Evgenia was amazed by me and my identical twin sister, Satoko and Kaetlyn were extremely gracious. I'm super satisfied
