2017 Four Continents Men SP

yea it's the character 네. Unfortunately they're just different enough to be confusing. The transliteration conflict on twitter is real lol

i remember a Korean friend telling me about the meaning of her name, it was very poetic... so why don't we choose him a stellar meaning ;)

what does the 네 character mean? and what would the other ones mean?

In a week or so I guess it will be 150 pages! :dbana:
i doubt it... for many of us, the live SP is at a very bad time.. middle of the night.. :(

and usually, when there are so many men upgrading their programs, it means pops and splats... pops and splats= silence in the competition thread...

the only way this thread is going to 150 pages if is one very gorgeous skater wins the event with very few quads :)

= 'yes', 'okay'. also functions as certain pronouns (informal 'me', 'you'). I can't properly explain why it's weird. Pair it up with 'ee' and it's like....the grammatical parts of common sentences.

Anway Neideun is emerging as the winner on my timeline. Phonetics be damned!

Jason Brown! He only has two planned for this competition. THE HORROR.

I kid -- that would take an meltdown of epic propositions.

However, I do not think it's completely out of the realm of possibility for him to be a dark horse for a podium placement. Major meltdown from others required for this too, but not as much as the other scenario. :slink:

LOL.. as soon as I posted, I thought... let's wait for Mrs P to put Jason Brown at the top of the podium... If that happens, I predict another 50 pages extra :) total 200 ;)

all i can say is

TOUCHÉ :) hehehe you made my night ;)

We'll see. Ok, 150 is maybe exaggeration :con2:

Are most fans here from North America? :scratch3: When I sleep, the forum is very active, but when I'm awake, not that much. So I guess most fans must be from there or maybe from Asia too.

very few but very active Canadians ;) including yours truly 4everchan

I believe indeed that many Americans are on this forum... so yes, 4CC is a bit tough to follow live :)

to be honest - it is not impossible...One skater can be on fire, but the rest of the pack could have a hard times and as a result skaters like Jason or Kevin would benefit big time, if skating lights out of their material...

Then - I predict that the thread could reach 150-200 pages if:

- all big guns will have time of their lives (execute everything cleanly-ish, let's say)
- same as above plus Yuzuru not winning
- none of big guns wins and a victory will be a surprise (e.g. Jason)
- some PCS controversy

30 pages, I'm getting nervous...:slink:

ETA - 31, mine is the first, what a spamer, shame on me...

If the universe looks to be ironic after all the buzz with these planned layouts, it's the perfect way to do it.

Seems when it comes to Jason Brown, the opposite of what is predicted by posters occurs. I believe at 4CC 2015 a lot of people had him on the podium and he placed 6th. Then he was off people's radars at Worlds and he placed 4th. NHK Trophy this season same thing.

I don't mind that he's under the radar -- UNIVERSE DO NOT TAKE MY PREDICTION AS GOSPEL AND TRY TO BE IRONIC OR SOMETHING.

P.S. the FS is actually very GS user friendly -- Sunday afternoon for Asia; Saturday night for NA. (Sorry European GS posters....)

Some of us Canadians run on Japanese time and post in the middle of the night.

For me I'm also interested in seeing how some of the lower ranked skaters do. Kevin, Keiji, Julian, and Han in particular.

well if yuzu doesn't win, there will be some pages written because it will mean that either
1) he didn't do well.. and that will worry everyone
2) he got beaten doing well, most likely by someone with higher TES... which will mean that people will wonder if he needs to improve his layout or if the winners deserved their PCS....

So i think that yuzuru not winning gold will bring the most pages ....

Guys. do calm down. Remember this is only the SP thread. We can save the rest of the 100 pages for the FS thread!

i agree with you however, i do believe that a lot of water has gone under bridges (something we say in my language, not sure if it translates into english) since 2015...
i mean remember Nam was 5th at worlds...

so yeah... right now, many don't even put patrick in 5th at worlds... so yeah... :)

Unfortunately, when a guy attempting 3 quads like Patrick is no longer competition in this sport, it's hard to believe in Jason, no matter how beautifully he can skate.. the silver lining, he will be a great show skater if he decides to grace us with that.

Never thought I see the day that Han Yan would be considered a lower-ranked skater.

4CC IS HIS COMPETITION. :)

4CC 2013: Wins bronze medal after not making JGPF after winning Jr. Worlds last season.
4CC 2015: Wins bronze medal after not medaling on either of his GP assignments after making GPF last season.
4CC 2016: Wins bronze medal after an OK GP season (with a GP medal in China) after top 10 finish at worlds
4CC 2017: __________________ after career low GP placement after not making the FP at worlds last season. ???

i can do that for the LP... not for the SP... i would be a mess.. oh well, we will see :) LOL

The SP will fall right during my morning, so I'll know what I'll be doing at work on Friday. Luckily, my boss is away so no one'll be watching me 'working'.

All the stress of watching the FS will be absent, though, since I'll just check results after waking up. ;)

I would love to see Han somehow take the bronze. I mentioned about a dozen pages back that I'll appreciate his skating even if it's almost impossible for him to do that in this field. In the eyes of the ISU him and Kevin are lower ranked, but we know better. :)

Show skating, Schmoe skating. The guy's a competitor and always seems to find a way to make it work. It never is under the timetable people want, but somehow he can pull rabbits out of hats at just the right time.

Look up "The tortoise and the hare" on Wikipedia and Jason's photo will be under the tortoise section.

That said, at this point, I'm cool with whatever as long as he doesn't re-injure himself and skates well. But I won't be shocked or anything if he manages to do some cool stuff later this week.
