Omg the next time a National competition is happening, it will be to determine spots (kinda) for the Olympics!

Vincent's reaction was the most adorable thing since...well, Karen Chen's reaction :laugh2:

OMG, I just realized that both singles champs have the same last name

Wow, Vincent really held it together under what must be incredible pressure. Not perfect, but really good.

Edit: I have a LOT of confidence in the ability to get back 3 spots for next year...

Tammy's having a good weekend with both Vincent and Karen.

Nathan Chen has just evolved the sport so fast it's already outpaced the 2016 anime Yuri!!! On Ice, which like any anime (even for one that's as meticulously accurate as YOI), tends to exaggerate what athletes at the top level of the sport can do. On that show, there are skaters who land 4 quads in a program, including the quad lutz and the quad flip. Which seemed a bit out there at the time! Well, look at us now!

I wonder if they'll actually send vincent to sr worlds though. He'll have to do the senior b for the tech mins and he'll be going to jr worlds for obvious reasons- too much in a short period of time? Or not? I guess the fed may want someone with quads to have a better chance of 3 spots...
On second thought, jason is much better in pcs and has senior experience already, so he'll probably get the 2nd spot.

Overall a very satisfying last group. Even Ross was really entertaining to watch.

Mrs. P, just curious:

Did GS have more traffic for the Men's FS or the Ladies FS?

And I hope everyone will join me in giving a round of applause to Mrs. P  and Doris  for all the US Nats and Canadian Nats threads.

Congrats to Nathan…five quads!
Congrats to Zhou.
Brown? sigh
Congrats to Hochstein.

I know you care about quads, but he just started jumping like earlier this month and even just started jumping 3A A WEEK AGO. It would have been a huge ask for him to even practice the quad.

The last group was amazing  Nathan, you're unbelievable. I just love both Vincent and Jason so I don't know how to feel.

I didn't think he was going to do it and had Jason 2nd. Really impressed by this 16 years old. Feel sorry he had to go after 5 quads Nathan and all that uproar, he did 2 and that is already good enough to win in past events. The point is he was tested and it worked out. Vincent went under the radar for past few years. Good for him!!!

I would still send Jason. Zhou should go juniors...just my lil opinion.

How can any man come close to Nathan? He has t locked up. Even if I'm nt a huge fan of his *ahem* skating ...he's guaranteed to win at least every nationals at this point.

This isn't the US Nationals Championship. This is the US Nationals CHENpionship.

Wow! Is that a first for 5 quads?

Anyways, USFS has a tough decisions for the worlds second man...Vincent doesn't really have great components with poor posture but Jason has no quad...

Jason said he's committed to bring the quad back for worlds. He obviously just couldn't do it here given his stress fracture recovery.
