2017 Worlds Free Dance

I know very little about the split. Please correct me if I am wrong and fill any gap there is.

Sara wanted to quit skating and move on to her life, going to University and so on. It must have been hard for her to live in Canada apart from family in a young age.

Adria was left alone in Canada, looked for a partner and found Olivia.

Later, Sara, after a long time of soul searching and perusing her study in university, wanted to continue skating, but Adria had already moved on at that point. She found a partner in Russia. Now, she is traning in Russia with B/S. Per an interview, Adria and she is in good term and Adria blessed her new partnership with Kirill.

At the Spanish Natioals, I believe Sara and Kirill won the Spanish National title. But they did not have minimum score to compete at the ISU competition. Spain has one spot for WC and (not sure how many for EUro). Also, I am not sure what was the reasoning behind who goes to which competition.

http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?56702-Sara-Hurtado-amp-Adri%E0-D%EDaz-split This is the full thread from when it happened if anyone really wants to go read 15 pages about this. In short no, Sara never mentioned anything about school, and in fact was clear from the beginning she didn't want her skating life to be over, she just wanted her skating life to be over with Adria.

I also don't know what this outfit has to do with the nutcracker. I mean they don't have to be in tutus but.. it's a world famous ballet. Probably 2nd only to swan lake.

Wow, who would have guessed it's from contemporary fashion. I stand corrected.

Still not a fan though...:slink:

I would like it better with different colors in the accordian part.

Speaking of costumes- that's not what people mean when they tell you to use your body to express the music, Team ITA. Her dress would be fine, it a little cheese, but his sleeve puts it over the edge for me.

Agreed about his sleeve. Some nice moments in this program though.

I don't understand the costumes at all -- and the dress isn't even very flattering for her.

They are so technically proficient, I wish they'd reconsider their packaging. Every single year their vibe is so generic.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: these two really need better programs. They actually really are decent performers and technicians, and the judges seem to enjoy them. They could probably break through if they could just string two well choreographed programs with good music together.

That first twizzle where they held the end was :jaw: Can't believe I've never noticed it before...

Was the exit out of that one lift on purpose?

And also, I gotta say, I've always felt that G/F are one of the most underrated ID teams out there. The speed on those twizzles (and everything else) :jaw:

The Ukrainian team used to be really interesting. Seems like in ice dance, it's much much harder to get out of the second tier zone.

I've given G/F a lot of very deserved grief over the years, but that was the single best program and performance I think they've given. The twizzles were fanstastic. I might actually download a copy of that, and that is something I NEVER thought I would say.

Good for them.

They did have the minimum score (Europeans), I was discussing this with someone during the SP and they said that the Spanish Federation thought S/D would do better that H/K (the results are quite similar though).
