2018 Junior World Championships Ladies SP

In Trusova's favor, I do think she has pretty impressive speed and ice coverage.

But she performs like a little girl. She's cute! And with this music it's just weird!!

I"m not sure she should be getting better GOE or PCS on anything compared to Kostornaia. PCS inflation is typical, but idk why her GOEs are being so inflated.

Technically excellent as always.

I will never understand why they couldn't just have substituted some other big band music for this song... it's even weirder since she looks so young. :slink:

Is it me or Trusova improved her spins?? i dont recall her spins this good. So much punch in her skating even her elements. She should be ahead in PE/IN but Kostarnaya should lead in SS/TR

Tiny boss does it again! I still prefer Kostornaia, personally, but Sasha's so gutsy. You've gotta admire that. If only this program weren't so cringey :dumb:

She skates like a 8 yrs old kid even though she's only 1 year younger than Alena. I really dont like enjoy her skating. Her artistry and arm movements are so childish.

And the judges double-down on not caring at all about artistry or quality of skating. Let's reward the little girl coming out and mugging to "Big Spender." THat's not weird at all!!! :rolleye:

Very good 3F-3Lo. And that 3Lz height, it looked like she had the time to drink a cup of coffee after finishing rotation until landing. Need to take a closer look at that, it looked insane. Super deep outside edge also.

That's a tight race! I agree with Trusova outscoring on the TES and Kostornaia winning on PCS, though.

God I love skaters that smile while skating... they literally also put a smile on my face.

GJ Alexandra very fun and entertaining!

Trusova: Aside from the music lol, I enjoyed it. But she was noticeably more tentative than she’s been imo. Maybe she’s just having an off day, everyone does. Her turns are noticeably sloppy and her spins could use some help. But the jumps were, as usual, impressive but not as impressive as usual - she has carried more flow out of them before. And she has a little star quality about her, she radiates. It’ll be exciting to see if she can find something to do with her natural projective ability in the coming seasons. The transitions and choreography only sorta work for me here.

I would've put this behind Kostornaia, however.

The level of the step or the speed of the sequence is irrelevant here. Zagitova's motions are sloppy and unfinished. She's hurries through the motions in that she never completes a single one - and that is both inside and outside the step sequence. Kostornaia does not are not. There is no perfect skater, that includes Zagitova. Kostornaia has her flaws, I chose not to highlight them here because I was floored by such a fantastic junior performance. I could critique any skaters if I looked for it.

The point is in motions there, not in holding the lines, because holding the lines is sometimes holding the speed, which means not enough ice coverage for level 4 StSq... just wanted to explain that..
