2018 Olympic Figure Skating Free Dance

Given the judging here, it was not an unreasonable thing to say. And they did lose the free skate to P/C. But then P/C's SDs have always been their achilles heel. And like I also said, I was so so so happy to be wrong.

I was not trying to be mean or anything, it was just so funny for me to read after I saw VM won and their reaction [emoji846] but I feel What you mean about the judging of course...

Anyways congratulations to Tessa and Scott! You deserved it like nobody else here! Two Amazing, clean performances! ❤️

And ma’ ShibSibs on the podium [emoji24]❤️ Congrats to all the teams!

We've got dream podium for Pairs, Men and Ice Dance!!!!!! SO HAPPPPYYYYY for that!!!!

That means Ladies event will be crap a super upset!! Who is ready??? Muahahahahahaaaa

Who is this 'we' you speak of? Cause none of the discipline have my dream podium thus far! Maybe mostly the same skaters but definitely not the dream order. :P

Anybody else watch the Tessa & Scott montage by CBC and sob uncontrollably?

Sure did! :sad21::love:

I also recognized some of the competitions they attended in the videos when they were very young, I know for sure that I also competed in the same competitions at least twice in high school. The Great Lakes Winter Skating Festival used to be an annual event held every January in London, Ontario. I’ll have to did out my old collection of programmes to confirm.

i love how they went back to the original 'risque' lift. It was like they went "**** it. This is our last skate. We don't owe anyone anything."

This, I think that after their TE performance and score received they indeed went for it on a full speed and upping the drama for both programs. The lift had to be performed that way and went into the history as their signature.

Yeeeeeeessssss!!!!! Yeeeeeessssss!!!!!! Yeeeeeeeessss!!!!!! I am incredibly happy for Tessa and Scott. With their gold medal all my figure skating dreams for these Olympic Games have come true: gold for Team Canada, gold for Aljona and Bruno, medal of whatever colour for Javi and individual gold for Tessa and Scott. Wonderful :)

What a fitting last performance from V/M! Thank you for all you've done for the skating world!

And I hope this means P/C and S/H are going to slayyyyyyy at Beijing 2022. Feels almost like legends passing on the torch to future legends in a way.

:yahoo: OMG, so happy for Virtue and Moir. They skated incredibly but I truly didn't think they'd get the Gold. What a competition: P/C's program was just beautiful and the Shibs really brought it. Congrats to the medalists!!

I’m just happy that Pasha Grishuk isn’t the greatest ice dancer of all time anymore

She never was. But now the Canadians have blown her and that era to bits. I really have mixed feelings. Costumegate aside the French are so sublime. Even on TV one can see the huge glides and speed. It is such a stunning program. Well I suspect that V/M are done and hope to see PC win worlds and to see Hubble and Donahue win silver. They are really great. Maybe see chock and Bates win bronze. They are wonderful and I was so sad for Maddie and Evan. Love them and she is so lovely.

Placements are right but not for the FD. Virtue and Moir gave the best performance technically and artistically of the night. Still lost the FD by 1 point.

Credit for their wins over the last two seasons MUST be given to their no touch step sequences in their short dances. Sorry, I forget what the element is actually called.

But I can’t forget how they both were out of this world.

Just watched virtue and moir!!!!! They are the best ice dancers everrrrrrrrr!!!! Period! I love them!!!! Watching their long program on repeat!

Donohue must be so heartbroken after a slight stumble on the twizzle and the technical fall on the choreo twizzle. That was all it took. I'm hoping that they make a comeback at Worlds with a medal.

I don’t think thats all that it took and I think Maddie also slipped a little on the first set of twizzles. They lost a level on w step seq. and got a deduction. I feel for them, I like This team, but Shibs were clearly better today and for me Shibs were better yesterday as well to be honest.

Tessa and Scott: The greatest of all time.
Papadakis and Cizeron: Great performance today, but did anyone else feel like they didn't quite have the crowd reaction and moment everyone was foreshadowing from this routine? I think unfortunately Moonlight Sonata peaked at the French Grand Prix, and although the scores got higher and higher with every competition, the magic of the performance stagnated. However they still received the highest score of all time and perfect 10's in PE and IN, so what am I talking about :scratch2:? Looking into the next quad, they really have no rival--I hope this leads them to diversify their program themes and take more risk.

ShibSibs: Happy for them.
Hubbell/Donohue: Love these two, but they messed it up again in the biggest competition of their lives. They should finally medal at Worlds.
Chock/Bates: Devastated for them.

Muramoto/Reed: Hope these two keep going! Very enjoyable to watch them today.

For the third event in a row, the GOAT has brought it home. Does this mean Carolina Kostner will win in a couple days?!

Except for this gpf, Tessa and Scott won EVERYTHING after the comeback.
Ok, ice dance is something else, but they did what Mao, Patrick, Carolina, Volosozhar/Trankov big etc couldn't do.

I am happy for 1st and 2nd, although I favored Beethoven (yesterday cost them), but I completely agree with the lady on the russian stream someone provided - she didn’t even remember Shibs, they are automatic technicians with something very saccharine about their skating.

I hope they retire. I really hoped Madison would get 3rd, but i think they skated it better at Nationals (withour counting the mustake). Maybe they were nervous.

Well I'm not sure I would call Carolina the GOAT but damn is she one stunning skater. I hope she keeps the TES as high as her PCS and with a clean skate she'd undoubtedly get on that podium.
